Thanks to their clarity, the use of system models is increasingly widespread in industry, providing engineers with the means of traceability, and reducing ambiguities. Systems engineers use an MBSE (Model-Based System Engineering) approach to describe different views of a system (requirements, operational view, functional view, behavioral view, logical and physical architecture views). The system model is useful to design the system architecture in either a static or a dynamic perspective. The first step in systems engineering is the requirements specification. This is an important step in the development phase, since the system must satisfy the defined requirements (functional and physical), to be able to choose the right architecture solution. Many trade-off methods exist: in some cases, it is sufficient to use parametric diagrams to calculate the system performances based on the functional causality of the system, and to execute simulations in the system modeler tool. However, there are some performances that need a more complex dynamic model requiring, for instance, differential equations, as well as a suitable solver, in a dedicated simulation tool, especially when the system is a complex mechatronic system, that needs multiphysics simulation. Many industries have adopted the digital twin (DT) concept in their activities, because of its fidelity and precision. It is highly recommended to use DT models during the early phases of development in order to verify system requirements, with a view to reducing development costs [18]. It is then necessary to ensure digital thread between system models and DT simulation models. To address these issues, this paper presents a collaboration methodology between simulation engineers and system engineers. The aim is to achieve earlier requirements verification and trade-off decisions. Drone swarm coordination, inspired by natural swarm behaviors such as bird flocking, has traditionally hinged on rule-based methodologies, with Craig Reynolds' Boid algorithm as a seminal reference. These rule-based strategies, although functional in many contexts, fail to capture the intricate adaptive learning mechanisms inherent to birds navigating dynamic environments. Recognizing this limitation, this paper introduces a multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) approach to Boid modeling for drone swarms, its more authentic emulation of the nuanced learning processes witnessed in avian species. Our methodology leverages reinforcement learning algorithms to train individual drones, enabling them to autonomously make decisions based on their local environment and the overall swarm's state. Distinct from traditional rule-based models, our MARL-driven drones continually optimize their collective and individual behaviors, echoing the adaptability of natural flocks. This adaptability, intrinsically woven into the fabric of our model, offers heightened proficiency in navigating complex, mutable environments, bringing the simulation closer to the organic flocking dynamics observed in nature. Empirical evaluations showcase that our MARL Boid not only surpass traditional rule-based models in cohesion, alignment, and separation but also excel in adaptability to environmental variations. Moreover, our model is able to capture the flocking behavior quite effectively and show robustness against external perturbations.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) systems have been widely used in autonomous mobile robots. However, the performance of the WPT system is limited due to the low efficiency of the transfer. This research aims to explore the impact of coil design on performance, demonstrating promising improvements in power transfer efficiency and range. Specifically, this research uses high-frequency electrical stimulation to reduce signal reflections in the WPT system. The proposed system, simulated with its three variations and results, shows a significant reduction in signal reflection over a long range compared to previous literature. Furthermore, a derived equation to optimize coil turns improves the quality factor. The results of the proposed system show that using a double-layer coil with intermediate coils is a reliable and effective way to transfer power wirelessly over a long range. © 2024 ieee.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) suits are widely used to protect human operators to execute emergency tasks such as bomb disposal and neutralization. Current suit designs still need to be improved in terms of wearer comfort, which can be assessed based on the interaction forces at the human-suit contact regions. This paper introduces a simulation-based modeling framework that computes the interaction loads at the human-suit interface based on a wearer's kinematic movement data. The proposed modeling framework consists of three primary components: a) inertial and geometric modeling of the EOD suit, b) state estimation of the wearer's in-suit movement, and c) inverse dynamics analysis to calculate the human-suit interface forces based on the simulated human-suit model and the estimated human movement data. This simulation-based modeling method could be used to complement experimental testing for improving the time and cost efficiency of EOD suit evaluation. The accuracy of the simulated interface load was experimentally benchmarked during three different human tasks (each with three trials), by comparing the predicted interface forces with that measured by commercial pressure sensors.

In response to the issue of model uncertainty in servo motors, a control method based on an adaptive neural network with global approximation capability is proposed. Firstly, the mathematical model of the servo motor is established and simplified into a third-order numerical model containing unknown nonlinear functions. Secondly, an adaptive neural network with global approximation capability is designed to address the unknown nonlinear functions in the model. Based on this, a controller is designed, and the stability of the system is demonstrated through Lyapunov theory, ensuring the convergence of the algorithm. Finally, traditional PID control algorithm is introduced for comparison and verification. simulation results indicate that the proposed method effectively reduces tracking errors and improves control accuracy.

Within the framework of wireless communication systems, power amplifiers (PAs) stand as fundamental building blocks. However, existing PA models based on Fully Connected Networks (FCN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) fall short in fully encapsulating the intricate internal correlations among diverse input elements during behavioral modeling and linearization processes. To address this limitation, we propose Real-Valued Time Delay Self-Attention Neural Network (RVTD-SAN) for PA modeling and digital predistortion (DPD). The RVTDSAN model leverages self-attention to extract meaningful features from the input matrix by capturing dependencies and focusing on crucial elements. The self-attention mechanism allows the model to assign varying importance levels to different positions in the input matrix based on their relevance, enabling it to identify elements with a greater impact on the PA's nonlinear behavior. The attention weights obtained through self-attention are then fed into a simple FC layer for further aggregation, producing the model's output. simulation and experimental results verify that the proposed RVTDSAN model shows superior linearization performance while maintaining a favorable balance between computational complexity and space requirements.

Metal oxide surge arresters are of great significance for surge arrester configuration, insulation coordination research, and system reliability calculation. Their accurate modeling depends on precise parameter calculation, and model parameter optimization is a complex multi-objective optimization problem. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-objective particle swarm optimization method based on the Weighted Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (W-MOPSO) algorithm to optimize the parameters of the surge arrester dynamic model. This allows the surge arrester dynamic model to be applicable to steep lightning current simulation, lightning current simulation, and switching current transient simulation simultaneously. The W-MOPSO algorithm performs Pareto dominance ranking on the global optimal solution of the weighted sum of multiple objective functions to obtain a Pareto optimal solution set. Finally, the model construction and parameter optimization analysis are performed using the YH5WZ-17/45 surge arrester as an example. By comparing the predicted residual voltage with the experimental results and comparing the optimization effects of four different algorithms, the surge arrester dynamic model optimized by the proposed algorithm can make the absolute value of the relative average error of multiple optimization objectives less than 4%, effectively promoting the optimization of dynamic surge arrester modeling parameters and ensuring the accuracy of the model.

A comprehensive study was conducted on the modeling, analysis, and simulation of overall system errors in response to the complex issue of error propagation and high control difficulty in visual-integrated composite robots. Force analysis was performed to determine the conditions under which the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) would not tip over during operation. The current accuracy status and causes of errors in each subsystem were summarized, followed by modeling and analyzing the overall system errors. The impact of static deformation and impact acceleration on composite robots was analyzed using ANSYS. MATLAB was used to perform numerical simulation and modeling of the visual-based robotic arm control system, generating 1000 sets of random data within the range of subsystem errors. The errors produced by the AGV and the robotic arm were combined and compared with the actual errors of the composite robot system, thereby verifying the correctness and effectiveness of the overall system error analysis method and providing theoretical guidance for the error analysis in visual-integrated composite robot systems.

Complex systems modeling and simulation are critical in many industrial and research fields and specifically to predict, prove, verify, and understand the behavior of cyber-physical systems. The diversity of variables in a system creates complexity [1] and a need for more efficient modeling and simulation methods. In the case of hybrid systems [2], the heterogeneity of the discrete and continuous parts makes these tasks more challenging by adding the necessity to manage different types of variables and transitions separately. Qualitative reasoning offers a paradigm to study the behavior of such systems with a high level of abstraction, trading precision and specificity against generality and formalism. This paradigm can be preferred to numerical analysis in specific situations, especially in the upstream study of a system, in its design phases. However, the different representations and the various contexts of such systems create an important obstacle to define a general methodology for applying qualitative reasoning and modeling to every case. In this article, we propose a method and a tool to unify different qualitative reasoning techniques on complex cyber-physical systems. We will also develop the possibilities offered by the obtained abstraction in various tasks such as formal proof, verification, property analysis, diagnosis, simulation driving, and system monitoring.

Bursty mixed noise composed of impulsive noise with memory and white gaussian noise exists in many practical applications. However, existing signal demodulation algorithms are designed without considering the characteristics of the bursty mixed noise, resulting in performance degradation. Therefore, an accurate model for the bursty mixed noise needs to be built to design the corresponding signal demodulation algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel statistical model based on the multivariate student distribution for the bursty mixed noise, based on which we design the maximum likelihood (ML) demodulation method and analyze the theoretical bit error rate performance. simulation results show that the proposed model can describe the bursty noise well and there is remarkable demodulation gain of the ML method as compared with conventional ones.
