This work introduces a novel approach by modifying an existing solver used to calculate the curing resin process simulation analysis. The laplacianFoam solver was used as the starting point, adding new features to the heat equation and the evolution equation of the resin curing degree. This modification led to the development of a new solver with significantly enhanced capacity. To validate its efficiency, a typical differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curve of a resin was considered, corroborating the outcome results. Furthermore, a comparison was made between the experimental data results and those from a licensed simulation software, demonstrating the superior performance of the developed solver with over 96% accuracy. This research also presents a more practical approach than the licensed simulation software.

This paper introduces UniGen, a novel approach to generating new traffic scenarios for evaluating and improving autonomous driving software through simulation. Our approach models all driving scenario elements in a unified model: the position of new agents, their initial state, and their future motion trajectories. By predicting the distributions of all these variables from a shared global scenario embedding, we ensure that the final generated scenario is fully conditioned on all available context in the existing scene. Our unified modeling approach, combined with autoregressive agent injection, conditions the placement and motion trajectory of every new agent on all existing agents and their trajectories, leading to realistic scenarios with low collision rates. Our experimental results show that UniGen outperforms prior state of the art on the Waymo Open Motion Dataset.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are becoming indispensable in numerous industries. By combining computational intelligence with physical capabilities, they enable new functionalities and applications. Systems Engineering (SE) and simulations are commonly used processes to manage the resulting ever increasing system complexity. While simulation engineers focus on virtually replicating the behavior of individual components, systems engineers aim for formal architectures to describe the structure and behavior of the entire system. Despite their resemblance at first sight, the interactions and exchange of system knowledge between these two disciplines is still challenging, as SE models and simulation models are disjoint. There is great potential in better integrating SE models with simulation models. A survey of modeling languages suitable for designing CPS reveals syntactic similarities but semantic differences. To bridge the gap between SE and simulation, we propose an extensible data model that combines structural modeling approaches with simulation functionality and a mechanism to manage the resulting models. In this paper, the developed data model is implemented in a Virtual Testbed and applied to a modular satellite system.

The implementation of model-based requirements simulations in smart homes is an effective strategy that allows users to comprehend the execution impact of their personalized needs before deployment. This necessitates the use of device models in advance. In this paper, we propose an automatic modeling method for smart home devices that utilizes a Large Language Model (LLM) to assist end users in modeling their devices. The method involves extracting information directly from device manuals using the extraction capabilities of the LLM, deducing the automata models using the reasoning capabilities of the LLM, and verifying the model quality through the properties of valid device models. Our evaluation has demonstrated that our method can generate high-quality device models. The resultant model can be utilized for smart home scenario simulations, assisting users in validating their requirements. Thus, this provides a cost-effective and scalable solution for offering device models to simulate user requirements in smart homes.

Contagious diseases spread in population through the contact network and their spread is a function of the complex interplay of the biology of the contagion and behavior of the population. In this paper, we present an Individual-based Fear Model (IBFM) that associates fear-index with the individuals to indicate the extent to which an individual follows health and hygiene protocols as a self-protective measure against disease. We also study the impact of the collective behavior of individuals in communities on the size and span of the epidemic. We propose a framework to create a wire-frame that mimics the social contact network of the population in a geography by lacing it with demographic information and improves the estimates of epidemic variables for network simulation. We test the effectiveness of the demography-laced contact network using real-life COVID data for two Indian states. Since network simulations of epidemic spread are computationally expensive, we launch a systemic investigation into the possibility of predicting three epidemic variables, viz. peak day, peak infections, and span of the epidemic using the Regression Chain Model. We find that the predictions are fairly accurate for two out of three variables.

In the field of automotive component evaluation and verification, cost considerations play a pivotal role in the development of electrical devices. To address this, we propose to use virtual release techniques and integrating simulation through model order reduction methods. By doing so, we can efficiently reduce costs and testing durations. In this context, we demonstrate crucial steps involved in defining the entire process, specifying simulation requirements, and implementing this approach. Our focus is on building an inverter model capable of predicting transient temperature behavior of the DC-link with quantified accuracy, achieved through a combination of Finite Volume Method and Reduced Order modeling methods. The techniques for verification and calibration are addressed. The process of validation using statistical methods is elaborated.

This paper presents a novel behavioral model for power amplifiers (PAs) that aims to address the inclusion of both high and low-frequency memory effects as well as load impedance mismatch effects. Through the application of a combined methodology, integrating three-tone characterization with load-pull measurement techniques, the paper attempts to offer a comprehensive modeling of the intricate behaviors of PAs under a large range of operational conditions, including load pull conditions. The proposed model seeks to improve predictive accuracy and support the development of more efficient telecommunications systems by anticipating complex RF system performances. This work aims to provide a robust system simulation framework in the context of the complexity of modern communication signals, which are included in 5G standards.
