When Crowdsensing Meets Smart Cities: A Comprehensive Survey and New Perspectives

Crowdsensing has received widespread attention in recent years. It is extensively employed in smart cities and intelligent transportation systems. This paper comprehensively surveys the latest research advancements in crowdsensing for smart cities from a novel perspective. Specifically, this paper is categorized according to sensing entities in smart cities, including human-oriented sensing, vehicle-oriented sensing, and infrastructure-oriented sensing. Meanwhile, the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-assisted sensing in recent years is also summarized, accompanied by a timeline of related research. To facilitate easy comprehension, we have positioned the reading flow into the corresponding architectures, resolved problems, existing technical solutions, and specific application scenarios for different sensing entities. In particular, the problems to be solved are further analyzed from four technical perspectives, namely mathematics and operational research, artificial intelligence and machine learning, incentive mechanisms, security and privacy protection. Based on the proposed taxonomy, recent studies are thoroughly investigated to illustrate the current state of research in crowdsensing. Furthermore, this paper highlights the emerging applications of human-oriented and vehicle-oriented sensing in smart cities, as well as the frameworks, platforms, simulators, and datasets involved in crowdsensing. Finally, this paper discusses research directions related to crowdsensing in smart cities, such as digital twins, metaverses, and artificial intelligence-generated content. The primary goal of this survey is to review and synthesize prior research, identify potential avenues for future research, and explore opportunities for collaboration with other relevant research domains. © 1998-2012 ieee.

The Multiply-Accumulate (MAC) Unit is a crucial component in all DSP Applications, due to its ability to perform high-speed arithmetic operations. This research aims to design and implement an 8-bit MAC Unit capable of performing multiplication and accumulation operations. The MAC Unit employs the same multiplier but integrates different adders such as Kogge-Stone, Ladner-Fischer, Carry Look-Ahead adder, and Ripple Carry Adder. The structures were formed using Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL) and implemented on Xilinx ISE, with simulation carried out using ModelSim. © 2025 ieee.

This study performs an in-depth comparison of deep learning approaches - CNN, LSTM, GRU, and their bidirectional variants (BiLSTM and BiGRU) - to anticipate commodity futures prices, particularly in the crude oil, gold, and corn markets. The approach used in our study combines fundamental and technical factors with thorough variable selection to establish the most effective predictors. The Grid Search Cross-Validation approach is employed for optimizing the hyperparameters of deep learning architectures. The efficacy of applied models is evaluated using common evaluation indicators: Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Coefficient of Determination(R2), and Adjusted R2. The results presented enhance the existing research on AI applications in financial markets, providing recommendations for the development of more precise forecasting techniques for researchers. © 2025 ieee.

We introduce a novel uncertainty principle for generalized graph signals that extends classical time-frequency and graph uncertainty principles into a unified framework. By defining joint vertex-time and spectral-frequency spreads, we quantify signal localization across these domains, revealing a trade-off between them. This framework allows us to identify a class of signals with maximal energy concentration in both domains, forming the fundamental atoms for a new joint vertex-time dictionary. This dictionary enhances signal reconstruction under practical constraints, such as intermittent data, commonly encountered in sensor and social networks. Numerical experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, showing improved reconstruction accuracy and noise robustness compared to existing methods. © 2025 ieee.

The correct implementation of secondary safety measures serves as a crucial line of defense for ensuring the safety of power grid maintenance, effectively preventing secondary accidents resulting from personnel misoperations. To better align with contemporary demands, this project delves deeply into four pivotal aspects: digital drawings, cabinet scanning, safety measure card generation, and the rehearsal and verification of safety control sequences. By exploring technologies such as the pre-generation of secondary safety measures based on digital drawings, image acquisition and scanning of cabinets, the development of a secondary safety measures business model, and the comparison of states before and after relay protection operations, we strive to establish an efficient and intelligent system to guarantee relay protection operations, thereby providing robust support for the stable operation of the power system. © 2025 ieee.

The horizontal IC design and manufacturing flow creates ample opportunities for unauthorized tampering at various stages, yet there is limited research dedicated to detecting hardware Trojans (HTs) in manufactured ICs. Practical applications are hindered by substantial challenges, including the presence of trusted ICs. This paper introduces a novel method for reference-free HT detection in manufactured ICs, leveraging Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) with power side-channel signals. Experimental results, conducted on AES-128 with various hardware Trojans, demonstrate an accuracy exceeding 95.52%. To be introduced for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, our proposed GMM-based HT detection method also provides a probabilistic framework, attributing evolving probability values to individual side-channel measurements to indicate potential HT activation. Consequently, it becomes feasible to ascertain with a high level of confidence whether a manufactured design has been tampered with an HT. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).

Given the poor performance of traditional approaches in identifying small hard hat objects against intricate backgrounds and over long distances, this work proposes a refined TBI-DETR algorithm. The algorithm enhances the model's recognition capability for hard hats by integrating Triplet Attention Mechanisms within the network structure and utilizing a multi-branch architecture to capture cross-dimensional interactive features of the input data. Additionally, a Bi_FPN is constructed to optimize the feature extraction process, promoting effective integration of feature information. Furthermore, a novel Inner-GIoU loss function is developed to refine training efficiency, leading to faster convergence of the model. Evaluation on the SHWD dataset reveals that the proposed approach exceeds state-of-the-art methods by at least 2% in accuracy and 1.4% in mAP@0.5. Its superior detection efficacy offers robust technical solutions for industrial safety management. © 2025 ieee.

Against the backdrop of the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, onboard visual navigation systems have become the core support technology for achieving precise positioning and efficient map construction of UAVs. This paper deeply explores the key technologies of sensor data spatiotemporal synchronization in onboard visual navigation systems, aiming to solve the synchronization issues in multi-sensor data fusion in variable environments, and enhance the navigation accuracy and reliability of UAVs. The research covers both spatial and temporal synchronization dimensions, with a focus on the technical implementation of Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO). For spatial synchronization, a target-based method is proposed to construct an error equation for solving the extrinsic parameters between the camera and the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), achieving precise alignment of sensor coordinate systems through the identification and matching of visual target feature points. In terms of temporal synchronization, considering the data frequency differences between the camera and IMU, this paper designs a time alignment strategy that realizes efficient temporal alignment of data through data buffering and timestamp matching. Additionally, the initialization and local sliding window optimization process of the Visual-Inertial Odometry are detailed, achieving high-precision fusion of visual and inertial data through feature extraction, optical flow tracking, and motion structure recovery. Experimental results show that the methods proposed in this paper can technically provide strong support for the autonomous flight of UAVs, effectively improving the navigation performance of UAVs in complex environments, and enhancing the robustness of the system. © 2025 ieee.

In recent years, the rapid advancement of smart terminals and wireless networks has led to exponential growth in the number of powers of IoT devices and the volume of data. These data resources have become important assets for power enterprises, significantly enhancing the intelligent perception, internal control capabilities, and customer service efficiency of power grids. However, as a national critical infrastructure, electric power data is highly susceptible to cyberattacks, and if leaked, it can pose significant security risks and result in substantial economic losses. Therefore, power enterprises must strengthen data security protection and address security challenges in data exchange, sharing, and mining. This paper proposes a cloud-edge collaborative smart grid data security sharing scheme, which combines zero-knowledge proof technology and a secret sharing scheme to achieve fine-grained access control and privacy protection for user requests. For authenticated legitimate users, a homomorphic encryption algorithm is used to enable secure queries of specific data in the database. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the distributed data access authentication and secure query scheme proposed in this paper. © 2025 ieee.
