With unprecedented growth of IoT and wireless communication, notably 5G, evolves, a surge in new service types and mobile data traffic unfolds exponentially. This shift propels the processing of mobile device's task from conventional distant and high capacity cloud computing to close proximity Mobile Edge computing (MEC), ensuring Quality of Service (QoS). MEC, characterized by the dispersion of network resources to the network's periphery, caters to the exigencies of delay-sensitive and computation-intensive services, ultimately enhancing user experience. Within MEC, computational offloading stands as a pivotal research domain. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of task offloading in MEC, beginning with an elucidation of the core conceptions and most promising MEC application scenarios. We then delineate the task offloading problem, analyzing industry research encompassing key technologies, strategies, scenarios, and objectives. Lastly, we offer insights into the existing challenges in current task offloading mechanisms and impending research avenues charting a course for subsequent investigative endeavors.

This paper aims to provide a systematic review of the published results on design optimization techniques in the area of compliant and soft robots, with a focus on the manufacturing processes, actuation methods and application areas. The goal of this work is to provide a comprehensive view and categorization of recent efforts using optimization for improving the design paradigms of such robot technologies, while focusing on the popular methods of topology optimization and generative design. In addition, this paper provides insights into the technical and technological trends that could potentially steer this area towards widespread adoption in domestic and industrial settings.

Among the many beverages served globally, coffee is certainly one of the most popular and it largely depends on the health status of the coffee plants on the quality of coffee beans. Coffee plants can be affected by different diseases and pests, one of which is coffee leaf disease which constitutes a serious threat to global coffee production. The appropriate and early diagnosis of these diseases is important in a bid to prevent their spread as well as maintain the wellbeing of the coffee leaf. Given that the coffee is an integral component of the global economic structure and diseases especially impact its productivity and quality, therefore, it is important to have an automatic mechanism for detecting coffee plant diseases. This research is focusing on the new deep learning technologies which are developed in the recent past experiences for the identification of coffee leaf diseases. The current trends, and the limiting factors hindering coffee leaf disease identification using deep learning and advanced imaging methods are reviewed. In addition, we applied various deep learning frameworks and validated the results obtained from every architecture. The result of this comparison shows a neural network representing the combination is more effective in diagnosing diseases of coffee leaves. MobileNent, ResNet50, and hybrid models display a detection accuracy in the range of 82% to 99.3%. Based on the analysis, the success rate of the MobileNet model reached 99.93% of the success rate of other deep learning frameworks for coffee leaf disease classification. This shows the power of deep learning algorithms to decide coffee leaf diseases on their early stage. © 2024 ieee.

Through sentiment analysis, topic modelling, and thematic analysis, the study aims to comprehensively understand the current state and trends within the quantum computing ecosystem. The findings unveil an overall positive sentiment and identified topics ranging from cloud computing services to quantum computing advancements. Thematic analysis provides actionable insights, emphasizing collaboration within the ecosystem. Rooted in the analysis of secondary data from key companies' articles, the methodology establishes a robust framework for discerning contributions, collaborations, and strategic orientations in quantum computing. © 2024 ieee.

This research aims to develop a Natural Language Processing (NLP) framework to uncover the current demanded Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in the Sri Lankan Information Technology (IT) sector. In the KSA, this paper focuses on professional qualifications and concepts, technical skills, and soft skills. Understanding the specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities demanded by industries is not only relevant to academics but also holds practical significance for job seekers, educational institutions, and employers. By employing Natural Language Processing techniques to analyze job advertisements, this research aims to bridge the skills gap, and support the relevant beneficiaries. The outcomes include the ability to use Generative AI for job advertisement annotation, an NLP framework to analyze job advertisements, identify the main areas in the IT sector according to ESCO (European Skills/Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations) classification-based customization and their specifically demanded KSAs for each domain. Importantly, the results also highlight that Knowledge and Skills vary across different domains, while Abilities remain common with slight changes. © 2024 ieee.

The smartphone industry is advancing rapidly, emphasizing the development of smaller, energy-efficient devices with enhanced features. However, this progress often overlooks the significant environmental impacts of these ubiquitous devices. While corporate sustainability reports from mobile product companies aim to address these concerns, they typically provide high-level overviews that obscure critical details, particularly regarding the carbon footprints (CFP) of individual components such as processors and memories. This paper investigates the discrepancy between the overall CFP trends reported and the actual increasing CFP contributions of processors over the years. Through a detailed analysis, the inadequacies in current reporting practices are highlighted, underscoring the necessity for more granular data and metrics in corporate sustainability reports. Specific, detailed metrics are proposed for inclusion in these reports to enhance transparency and help align the chip architecture, design, and manufacturing communities toward addressing relevant sustainability-related challenges.

This work presents establishing a nationwide university network to address the relevance of quantum computing, where challenges and opportunities for industry and academia focus from undergraduate to doctoral levels. The network comprises a series of talks on opportunities in the quantum computing ecosystem and potential collaborations and development opportunities aimed at Latin American countries. A total of 240 Spanish speakers registered, with 30% identifying themselves as introductory level and 4% as experts in quantum computing. The outcome underscores the importance of creating opportunities across various domains of the quantum computing ecosystem for a country showing initial interest in this field. Additionally, the current work presents the educational levels of the participants, including their proficiency levels in quantum computing, their areas of interest within this field, and the topics and trends they consider relevant when engaging in quantum computing. The event was hosted by the Center for computing Research of the National Polytechnic Institute (CIC-IPN) and organized by a consortium of institutions including CIC-IPN, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Superior School of computing (ESCOM), the Interdisciplinary Professional Unit in Engineering and advanced Technologies (UPIITA), the Center of Studies in advanced computing of UNAM (CECAv), Institute of advanced Materials for Sustainable Manufacturing of the Technological Institute of Monterrey, Benemerita Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP), Tecmilenio University, Superior School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Unit (ESIME) Zacatenco, and Quantum Universal Education. The event was made possible through collaboration with industry partners such as IBM Quantum, Xanadu, Haiqu, Unitary Fund, qBraid, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Kipu Quantum, Pasqal, Quantinuum, Womanium, and BQB, each contributing their unique expertise and resources to the event.

Sentiment analysis is a significant area of study that concentrates on gathering and examining people's attitudes, feelings, and views about various things, including goods, services, and themes. The approach has attracted interest to a large extent in several domains, such as NLP, assessment of social media, and evaluation of consumer feedback. Organizations, governments, and scholars can find and examine perceptions and perspectives to acquire commercial insight and make better decisions. This paper presents several challenges with the methodologies for sentiment analysis and evaluation. These challenges make it difficult to accurately interpret sentiments. NLP and data mining techniques are applied to text to get subjective data. The most recent works have focused on how to make models interpretable, overcome these problems, and take advantage of large-scale datasets to make sentiment analysis systems more robust. Also, this study provides a thorough and detailed explanation of sentiment analysis approaches, issues, and trends to provide academics with an extensive understanding. © 2024 ieee.
