The rapid emergence and evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has greatly impacted the energy distribution industry. This has led to the transformation of the traditional distribution system into a smart grid. Although the design strategies for smart grids have been studied by academic researchers, there is currently no practical guidance available for the industry on how to improve the level of intelligence in the grid. An industrial control system (ICS) is a type of device that monitors and controls the activities of an industrial environment. Unlike other forms of communication, the traffic of ICS is stable, regular, and periodical. Through statistical modeling, we can analyze the various features of this communication to create a statistical profile of its performance. For instance, by observing the inter-arrival and packet direction of this communication, we can identify the distribution of features that are useful in analyzing the communication. Due to the complexity of the issue, many researchers are currently working on developing techniques to detect anomalous intrusions in smart grids. Unfortunately, there is not enough experience in this field to develop effective approaches. Another issue that emerges when implementing pattern recognition techniques is that it can be very challenging to identify the signals. Due to the nature of the data in smart grids, there are often high levels of misclassification. The ability to detect and prevent power outages is very important for the safety and operation of the power grid. Modern technologies have evolved to provide a large and complex cyber physical system (CPS) that can monitor and control the various components of the power grid. The power grid is continuously improving due to the advancements in technology, and the number of sensors and measurement devices that can be used to monitor and control the system will increase. As technology is rapidly advancing across the globe, also the power demand is simultaneously increasing, creating a pressing need for sustainable and reliable energy sources. Conventional energy sources are no longer sufficient to meet this demand, prompting the exploration of non-conventional energy sources such as wind and solar power. This has led to the transformation of traditional grid systems into more dynamic, interconnected cyber-physical power systems (CPPS), where physical systems, communication networks, and control systems work in synergy. Smart grid systems, with their reliance on sensors, meters, and communication networks, are vulnerable to cyber-attacks, making cybersecurity a critical area of research. This paper proposes a method for detecting bad data in cyber-physical power systems using residue measurement. The approach is tested on a standard ieee bus system, highlighting that even minor data discrepancies can significantly impact system performance. The identification of bad data (IBD) is a challenging task, particularly within tight time constraints. The residue measurement technique offers a reliable, state estimation-based solution for identifying bad data in near real-time, making it a valuable tool in ensuring the integrity and security of smart grids.

In the burgeoning field of vertical farming, real-time monitoring and control systems have become pivotal for optimizing growth conditions and resource utilization. This paper details the design, construction, and implementation of a sophisticated real-time control system using the Arduino Uno as the central microcontroller. The system incorporates a Squirrel Cage Blower (12 V) for ventilation, a Submersible Pool Water Pump (240L/H) for water management, and a SparkFun TMP102 digital temperature sensor for accurate climate control. Powering requirements are handled by a 12VDC 2A Wall Adapter, and an N-Channel MOSFET 60 V 30A with a 10 K Ohm Resistor ensures precise voltage regulation. Data visualization is facilitated by a Monochrome 128 × 32 I2C OLED graphic display, while the ESP8266-01 Wifi Module provides remote accessibility to the system. The Bi-Directional Logic Level Converter ensures smooth communication between components operating at different voltage levels. Soil moisture is continually assessed by a soil moisture sensor, allowing for intelligent irrigation. These components are integrated on a BreadBoard using Jumper Wires, Male Headers, and a USB Cable A to B, creating a modular and scalable system. This paper offers an in-depth analysis of the system's functionality, efficacy, and implications for modern agriculture, showcasing a cost-effective and highly adaptable solution for implementing IoT in vertical farming. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Domain adaptation methods and appropriate feature extractors are usually applied to solve the problem that the variable working conditions of bearings affect the effectiveness of the fault diagnostic framework. However, the existing feature extractors are too complex to be deployed in real industries. In this paper, we propose a lightweight framework called improved depthwise separable convolution network (IDSCN) for the diagnosis of bearing faults in variable operating conditions. IDSCN is built on wavelet convolution and depthwise separable residual convolution (DSRC), where the wavelet convolution is used to extract frequency features from the source and target domains, and DSRC guarantees the performance of feature extraction with reduced parameters and computation. To minimise the distribution difference between the source and target domains, the local maximum mean difference is incorporated into the proposed framework. The performance of the proposed framework is validated on the Paderborn University dataset, involving a total of 6 transfer tasks. The experiment shows that the proposed framework achieves satisfactory results and outperforms other frameworks in bearing fault diagnosis. © 2025 ieee.

6G and beyond systems are designed to address wide-ranging demands from various applications. Managing concurrent requirements such as ultra-high speeds, very low latency, massive connectivity, high reliability, and mobility with available network resources is a nontrivial exercise, necessitating machine learning, artificial intelligence based automation for network management. Zero-Touch Network (ZTN) is a term used to define completely autonomous networks requiring minimal human intervention. Intent-Based Networking (IBN) helps interface users with heterogeneous network requirements or intents with the ZTN. IBN can map user intents into network requirements, and combined with ZTN, it can offer the potential for self-provisioning and self-management in 6G and future *** this work, we leverage the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) as a solution in primal form for intent translation from natural language to network implementable policies. We propose a pipeline that performs efficient intent translation and robust conflict detection inspired by the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach. Our proposed novel method translates a given input intent to contextually relevant output using a few-shot prompt approach with zero training and a small corpus of dataset. Further, we propose a conflict detection system that utilizes machine learning solutions to detect conflicts on the translated intents. Our comprehensive experiments on intent translation and conflict detection show that our approach achieves significantly higher accuracy than traditional methods. © 2025 ieee.

As clean energy generation grows, power systems require greater flexibility to ensure safe operation. As a critical emerging entity that assists the power grid in balancing peak and valley load fluctuations, virtual power plants can provide flexible real-time power through demand response and coordinate reasonable dispatch responses among all participants to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand during peak electricity consumption periods. Large industrial loads have the characteristics of a large load base. Currently, there is a lack of research on accurately analyzing the adjustable potential of power users in large industrial industries and then integrating them into virtual power plant operation dispatching. This paper introduces a multi-time-scale demand response assessment method, analyzes the response load characteristics of the steel and electrolytic aluminium industries, and proposes an optimal dispatch method based on assessing the adjustable potential of large industrial loads to optimize the load aggregator's cost benefits. Taking maximization as the goal, taking the data of Xinjiang Province as an example, the planning declaration curve of a large industrial load is solved, and the economic dispatch of a large industrial load is realized. © 2025 SPIE.

Furnace pinch roller from the analysis of the hot rolling mill unit, it was established that it transforms metal scrap into high quality rolled sheets using furnace pinch roller and metal conveyor belt. The guide and pinch rollers facilitate easy progression and avoid sheet damage during the rolling process mainly through accurate sheet guidance and retention. These rollers are positioned by a hydraulic cylinder that is supplied with a pressure transducer with a pressure limit of 30 bar so as to monitor it on line. The furnace retains working temperatures of 900°C inside and 600°C outside in order to sustain efficient rolling temperatures. This setup acts to improve the accuracy of the metal conversion process and the results obtained from it. But in the existing inductive proximity sensors scale are heat sensitive and an interferometer disturbances positional inaccuracies resulting in recurrent operational interferences and high costs of maintenance. To eliminate such limitations, the research offers improved sensor designs given the harsh conditions of operation. Also, using predictive monitoring systems is adopted to minimize pressures, increase effectiveness, and maintain unchanging Industrial standards. © 2025 ieee.

In contemporary society, it is pertinent to address the feature of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM), a new mode of urban transport, whereby unmanned aerial vehicles transport people and goods with the view to rendering relief to ground traffic congestion. However, challenging as it may be, the deployment of the UAVs within the confines of the urban built environment is complex. In this systematic review, we provide state-of-the-art developments found in multi-UAV path planning for UAM. We highlight the different aspects of navigation strategies, cooperative algorithms, optimization methods, as well as collision avoidance techniques over the years. In total, we conducted analyses on thirty recent studies, such as those that deal with the combination of machine learning, bio-inspired algorithms, and other environmental-induced factors involved in the path planning process. The review results exhibit significant advances in navigation-aware planning, cooperative systems, advanced optimization techniques, and real-alive applications. However, while all these have been achieved, adaptations in real-time, dynamic environment management, and the integration of learning-based methods with conventional control methods are challenges that have continued to be faced. Future research will propose directions to fill in these gaps to further the progress towards developing efficacious, safe, and sustainable urban air transportation systems. © 2025 ieee.

Artificial intelligence (AI) in its many forms is leading the charge in spurring breakthroughs in digital security in response to the emerging challenges in the post-COVID environment. On the one hand, businesses are finding it challenging to handle security risks related to a range of concerns, including web domain, decision-making, quality control, and system openness, to name a few. However, to comprehend the relationship between AI and those problems, research over the past ten years has concentrated on security capabilities based on instruments like platform complacency, intelligent trees, modeling techniques, and outage management systems. The literature has long acknowledged how important artificial intelligence will be in directing industries and reshaping the transportation, health, and education sectors. This paper presents an Artificial Intelligence-based Security method for Banking Sector (AISBS). AI is one of the best technologies for mapping and preventing unforeseen hazards from consuming an organization. The proposed method can be used to categorize, and resolve cyberattack issues. Algorithms like the Enhanced Encryption Standard (EES) encrypt and decrypt data to guarantee the security of financial sector data.
