Bayesian inference has provided the continual learning (CL) with an elegant framework where past experiences and new knowledge are consolidated into the posterior constantly. Typical approaches rely on Bayesian neural networks whose parameters are updated by variational inference, namely, maximizing the evidence lower bound of log-likelihood. In this paper, we discuss the effects of local reparameterization on the optimization of such networks in the context of CL. The empirical results show that it does not only increase the inference speed of neural networks, but also enhance the CL performance in some scenarios. Additionally, motivated by the observation that variance matrices have low-rank structures, we propose the d-tied variational continual learning (d-tied-VCL) to improve the parameter efficiency of variational continual learning (VCL). Experiments on random classification, per-muted MNIST, and split CIFAR100 show that even VCL with rank-1 variance matrices achieves competitive performance. © 2024 ieee.

The aim of this paper is to examine noteworthy cyberattacks that have taken place against ICS and SCADA systems and to analyse them. This paper also proposes a new classification scheme based on the severity of the attack. Since the information revolution, computers and associated technologies have impacted almost all aspects of daily life, and this is especially true of the industrial sector where one of the leading trends is that of automation. This widespread proliferation of computers and computer networks has also made it easier for malicious actors to gain access to these systems and networks and carry out harmful activities. © 2022 ieee.

Constrained multiobjective optimization problems (CMOPs) are prevalent in various real-world applications, presenting a formidable challenge to existing evolutionary algorithms when faced with intricate constraints. When solving CMOPs, a crucial concern is achieving a balance between convergence, diversity, and feasibility. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a two-archive-based constrained multiobjective competitive swarm optimizer. The algorithm preserves two collaborative and complementary archives to improve population convergence and feasibility. By implementing a competitive particle swarm mechanism, offspring solutions are generated by drawing upon solutions from both archives, thus capitalizing on their synergistic effect and exceptional information. An adaptive parameter is also used to adjust the bias in choosing the winner in the paired competition during the evolution. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in handling constrained multiobjective optimization problems. © 2023 ieee.

L3 automated driving system allows the driver to leave from driving tasks within its Operational Design Domain (ODD), while the driver has to take over control of the vehicle once the system reaches the boundary of its functions. It will be a challenge for the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) to issue a Take-over Request (TOR) to get the driver back in the driving loop. This study investigated the effects of different types of visual planning support on take-over performance via a driving simulator experiment with 24 participants. We evaluated three types of visual planning support: Normal, Text, and Icon during emergency scenarios. Moreover, two Non-Driving Related Tasks (NRDTs) were hypothesized to affect the driver's performance. Based on a total of 8 objective metrics, the results showed that the type of visual planning support did not influence the reaction time;however, it had considerable effects on take-over performance. Compared with normal type which only included vocal alarm, the success rate under visual planning support was higher and the lateral control of vehicle was also more stable, which indicated an improvement of take-over performance.

This paper presents an consensus distributed algorithm that incorporates watermarking to address the economic dispatch (ED) problem in microgrid systems. The objective is to achieve a balanced power supply and demand at minimal cost. The proposed approach utilizes an event-triggered mechanism (ETM) to reduce communication overhead and optimize information transmission efficiency. Additionally, a watermarking technique is employed to ensure secure transmission of sensitive information, where each micro-generator includes a watermark generator and remover. The watermarking scheme is designed to obfuscate malicious eavesdropping while allowing neighboring nodes to receive information. Convergence of the proposed distributed algorithm based on consensus is established, demonstrating its effectiveness in solving the ED problem in microgrid systems. Experimental results using an ieee 14-bus system are provided to validate the efficacy of the proposed consensus algorithm. © 2023 ieee.

The state identification of the operational status of power systems plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliable operation of power systems, forming the foundation for the management and control of power system operations. In the practical operation of power systems, the duration of fault states is short, while the system remains in a safe and stable state for a significantly longer period, leading to an imbalance in the training samples available. This imbalance can cause traditional machine learning classification algorithms to favor the majority categories of power system operational states, resulting in inaccurate evaluation metrics and reduced model generalization capability. To address this issue, this paper introduces a spatiotemporal dynamic graph neural network model for the identification of power system operational states. By incorporating class cost coefficients, focal loss, and cross-entropy in a joint loss function, the model adaptively focuses on the less represented operational state categories during training, improving classification accuracy on imbalanced and challenging samples. Moreover, the integration of temporal information and spatial topology information within the graph neural network enhances the model's robustness and generalization ability in state identification. Experimental results on the standard ieee 68-bus system demonstrate that, compared to traditional machine learning methods, the proposed joint loss with the spatiotemporal dynamic graph neural network model achieves higher accuracy in the identification of power system operational states, significantly improving classification performance on imbalanced samples with a 4.8% increase in F1-score, reaching a peak F1-score of 98.6%. © 2024 ieee.

The intelligent coal shearer has introduced unmanned systems and fault diagnosis technology, achieving automation in many tasks, reducing reliance on manpower, and improving work safety. By monitoring and analyzing the operational data of the equipment, the fault diagnosis system can timely detect potential issues and provide corresponding solutions. Accurate and timely preventative maintenance can reduce equipment failures and downtime, thereby improving production efficiency and *** study proposes a built-in sensor system, including design, installation, and communication scheme, for rocker arm of the shearer. The system aims to achieve high-quality data and conduct real-time monitoring for fault diagnosis of rocker arm in a shearer. Unlike traditional vibration sensor which contains intense noise from coal cutting, the designed built-in sensor system enables real-time acquisition of infrared images on the gear tooth surface, thus providing more intuitive information for fault diagnosis. Additionally, a temperature calibration method named Poly-Forest Bagging (PFB) is proposed to solve the nonlinearity and drift problems in temperature measurement using infrared sensors. This algorithm integrates polynomial regression and random forest under the framework of bagging. Through calibration experiments and comparisons with individual models, it demonstrates that the PFB algorithm exhibits superior accuracy, overfitting resistance, and robustness compared to individual models, significantly enhancing sensor precision. © 2023 ieee.

A railroad technical operation station is an extensive and complex operation system and a variety of random disturbing factors further increase the complexity of its command and dispatching. To enhance the railroad technical operation stations' intelligence, and integration level, and enhance its dispatching management ability of complex operation plans, based on the ACP approach, this paper designs the parallel dispatching system (PDS) architecture, and describes its key technologies including the artificial dispatching system (ADS), computing experiments, parallel execution, etc. On the basis of the artificial dispatching system, computational experiments can optimize various types of technical operations and the overall operational process, to achieve parallel execution between the actual dispatching system and ADS. PDS can provide more efficient and intelligent command and dispatching solutions for railroad technical work stations, and promote the development of the railroad transportation industry in the direction of higher quality and efficiency. © 2023 ieee.

A computer system or network can be disrupted, damaged, or compromised by malware, a sort of harmful program or software. Malware affects many businesses, including financial institutions and the healthcare industry. The existing model of secure healthcare systems uses blockchain-enabled security frameworks to prevent the system from malware attacks by only providing tamper resistance for healthcare networks. Whereas the proposed method is used to identify malware in intelligent healthcare frameworks, a unique method utilizing the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) algorithm is presented in the proposed system. The proposed approach uses a benchmark Malimg dataset with the families of Dontovo.A, C2Lop.P, ***, to train a Multilayer Perceptron model to efficiently detect and mitigate malware threats and the implementation of blockchain technology in the proposed model make the healthcare system as a tamper-proof framework renowned for its heightened security, resilience, and decentralized structure which makes it nearly hard to change once recorded without also changing all blocks that come after. The effectiveness of this method in identifying malware attacks with an emphasis on attachments is proven by thorough testing and analysis. The proposed system is improved to existing techniques in terms of accuracy, as demonstrated by a comparative evaluation. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2024.
