Piano playing is a highly flexible and intelligent artistic task for humanoid robot due to a large number of keys. Therefore, the cooperation ability of the robotic arms and hands is essential for the smooth performance of piano humanoid robot. In this paper, we proposed an intelligent piano playing algorithm for the piano humanoid robot with a visual location module and a scoring-based action scheduling module. With the visual location module, the robot can realize the autonomous location of piano keys whether in preparation or in the process of playing the piano, so that the robot can be robust to deal with any sudden state, such as collision or missing the piano. With the relative position between the piano key and the robot as input, the action scheduling module can transform the musical score to a series of optimum combined actions of robotic arms and hands to increase the fluency of performance. Finally, the intelligent piano playing algorithm has been successfully applied on the piano humanoid robot independently developed by our team. © 2022 ieee.

In response to the increasing demand for information collection and data communication in automated control devices in an intelligent manufacturing factory, this paper proposes an OPC UA-based intelligent communication method for factory automation and discusses its communication principles and network architecture in detail. This paper also explores the integration of OPC UA with devices such as industrial robot ROS systems and sensor-embedded systems and introduces a Python-based data communication program design method. Ultimately, this paper successfully develops an MES robot monitoring module based on the OPC UA architecture and conducts a case study. The practical application results show that OPC UA-based data communication technology has high versatility and compatibility, and can effectively achieve data integration and unified management of intelligent workshop equipment information. This technology has broad application prospects and promotional value, providing a useful reference for the information construction of intelligent manufacturing factories. © 2023 ieee.

Reservoir Computing (RC), a compact recurrent neural network (RNN), is an efficient artificial neural network suitable for processing timing signals. In our previous work on a physical reservoir consisting of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) network, its computing performance was presented to be improved by phosphomolybdic acid-modification on CNTs. In this paper, a genetic algorithm was used to search some hyperparameters related to its computing architecture, including input gain, input position, auxiliary input, regularization coefficient and leak rate, for two test benches, i.e., NARMA10 time series prediction and epileptic seizure EEG classification. The parametric setting for improved computing capability of this physical system were found. The best performances were achieved at normalized root-mean-square error of 0.0877 for NARMA10 and an accuracy of 98.33% for EEG classification, respectively. © 2022 ieee.

Humans have often been perceived as a leading cause of error in Zero-defect manufacturing (ZDM) processes. There is thus a reduction of human interventions in the deployment of industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies used for ZDM such as Machine Learning (ML). However, as manufacturing (e.g., I4.0 context) is often placed within a socio-technological context involving the co-integration of humans and technology, the manufacturing processes are now more vulnerable to cyber risk and threats. System vulnerabilities also derive from limitations associated with ML. This paper highlights three challenges associated with ML: explainability, data privacy, and security for ZDM. We argue that due to the high level of data complexity and lack of flexibility in ML models, humans play a critical role in ZDM decision-making. The paper explores the concept of security culture as an enabler for transformative resilience and zero-defect manufacturing and contributes to rethinking the human-centered approach in ZDM. The paper stresses a need to enhance contextual and empirical understanding of transformative resilience and security culture in ML/ZDM environments to better address adverse events such as cyber threat situations.

As humans continue to develop the ocean, facing the exploration of the extreme environment of the deep sea on Earth, a Resident-ROV (R-ROV) has the advantage of not being restricted by sea conditions, an ultralong umbilical cable and other factors compared to a traditional ROV, which greatly extends ROV subsea operation time. In addition, underwater vehicles with autonomous or semiautonomous intervention capabilities are gradually attracting the attention of scholars. Therefore, this paper analyzes the dynamics of a self-developed R-ROV, constructs a control system and builds a simulation platform. On the one hand, the platform can reduce the cognitive fatigue caused by an operator's long-time attention in the traditional ROV remote operation. On the other hand, it provides an effective platform for the autonomous or semiautonomous operation ability of an R-ROV and its verification before task deployment on the actual hardware, which greatly shortens the research and development cycle time. © 2022 ieee.

To solve the problem of load forecasting in energy cell-tissue systems, this paper analyzes the correlation between different cells, and proposes a load forecasting method that considers the correlation between energy cells for their different load characteristics. Firstly, the energy cells are clustered using the clustering algorithm, and then select energy cell historical data with strong correlation to form a time series, which is input into the bidirectional long short term memory (BiLSTM) network for load forecasting to improve the accuracy of the prediction. © 2023 ieee.

This paper introduces a modular robotic system aimed at tibial fracture reduction and rehabilitation with vibrational stimuli generation. With the development of the economy and the diversification of entertainment, the incidence of traumatic orthopedics is increasing, especially tibial shaft fractures rank first among lower limb fracture types. Compared to traditional manual techniques by physicians, robot-assisted reduction surgery offers higher precision and reduces the risk of physician exposure to X-ray radiation. Studies have shown that mechanical stimuli help promote trabecular bone growth, resulting in stronger postoperative calluses. However, vibration has not yet been applied to fracture rehabilitation in reduction medical devices. Therefore, this article innovatively designs a modular robotic system capable of both reduction operations and vibrational stimulation, aiming to achieve the integration of reduction and rehabilitation of tibial fractures.

To ensure the balance of power supply and demand, probabilistic energy forecasting is significant to determine the power generation and dispatch strategies. In order to solve the probabilistic forecasting problem of energy time series, we develop a novel transformer-based decomposition framework, i.e., the temporal decomposition transformer (TDT) to estimate the probability distribution of future time series. TDT achieves accurate and reliable probabilistic forecasting by predicting the mean and standard deviation of time series successively through the decomposition framework. TDT uses the tranformer decoder to capture the temporal feature in the historical time series, and then two tranformer decoders predict the mean and standard deviation of the time series at each future time instant respectively, where the standard deviation is forecasted based on the forecasting of the mean. Finally, the time series probabilistic distribution is modeled by log-likelihood regression. By accomplishing extensive experiments on two real-world energy time series datasets, we conclude that TDT achieves better forecasting accuracy in both point forecasting and probability energy forecasting than compared methods. © 2023 ieee.

The smart grid paradigm brings about a significant transformation in conventional power grid networks through the seamless integration of cutting -edge computer, communication, and sensing technologies. This integration promotes optimal bidirectional power circulation, cultivating a digitally interconnected power grid that offers a multitude of advantages. The article delineates a multitude of prevalent cyberattack vectors and suggests preventative measures to alleviate the associated hazards. By conducting an extensive investigation, this study seeks to illuminate the critical significance of cybersecurity in safeguarding the dependability and robustness of the smart grid infrastructure

The convergence of traditional Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Space Traffic Management (STM) assumes critical importance in the growing commercial space transportation industry, leading to the emergence of the Multidomain Traffic Management (MDTM) concept. The integration pertains to the simultaneous operation of manned and unmanned vehicles, requiring increased levels of automation in decision-making to develop confidence and improve collaboration between humans and autonomous systems. The increasing reliance on Aerospace cyber-Physical systems (ACPS), specifically for applications involving safety-critical functions, presents a noteworthy cybersecurity problem that is frequently undervalued. The designs of ACPS are intricate as they involve the interconnection of communication, control, and computing processes while also smoothly integrating both hardware and software components. Traditional physical dangers can manifest in the virtual environment, while cyber threats can extend into the actual world. The increasing dependence of civilisation on essential infrastructure for economic progress, public safety, and national security makes it imperative to prioritise protection against cyberattacks in order to guarantee continued support for critical activities. The investigation commences by addressing the escalating dependence on ACPS services in the context of safety-of-life and mission-critical applications. The subsequent discussion emphasises the cybersecurity issues presented by MDTM systems, encompassing their susceptibility to intrusions and the intricate nature of ACPS frameworks. © 2023 ieee.
