Environmental monitoring is critical in understanding whether the quality of our environment is getting better or worse. Information gathered by using an environmental monitoring system is important to make decisions. Vietnam is a vulnerable country of climate change. Specially, in the South of Vietnam, the Mekong delta is known as the region getting the most impact of sea level rise in Vietnam. That leads to a lot of problems making the worst effects to residents in the area, who are mainly still very poor. On the other hand, Vietnam is going on industrialization process that makes a strong effect on the environment. To deal with these challenges, different projects of environment management have been proposed and implemented and many monitoring systems have been built in those projects. Those systems are basically sensor networks with high cost in developing and maintaining. They are related to modern technology such as cloud, communication mobile and wireless. They provide the data for large community for different purposes. Therefore, building such a system is normally a long term project that requires an incremental and modular development for a complex system. This paper, on one hand, represents some common characteristics of an environment monitoring system that requires more study to develop a formal model and a methodology for their specifications, implementations and verification. On the other hand, we would like to adapt the formal model approach proposed for intelligent Transport systems (ITS) to an environmental monitoring system. The framework of Baobab is also introduced as an example for transformation from model to code.

In a business environment, managing the risk of the uncertain future is a challenge that requires resilience- the ability to survive, adapt and grow in the face of turbulent change. It aims at developing a quantitative approach for assessing supply chain resilience to disasters. The decision framework incorporates three determinants of supply chain resilience and discusses their relationship to the occurrence of disruptions, to the impacts on the performance of a supply chain system and to the time needed for recovery.

Software Development for Automotive systems is becoming more and more complex. Cars are turned into software intensive and to some extent software defined products by the increasing functionality of the various electronic control units (ECUs). Major driving factors for this development are complex human-machine-interfaces (HMI), eMobility and autonomous driving. Consequently, developing the software comes along with complex development projects and several partners. Different companies participate in such projects and form a value chain for the generation of a certain software system. Development tools have to support these project specific value chains. For this purpose the tools form a project-specific information supply chain. Ideally, they are connected to an automated tool chain. AMALTHEA provides an open source tool chain platform to support the setup of project specific development systems. This contribution presents the AMALTHEA tool chain environment and the underlying software development methodology. The concepts for the support of tailoring a tool chain and the standardization activities for the respective framework are described. Furthermore, an approach for the quantification of the efficiency and effectivity gains is described and key performance indicators are estimated.

There is increasing need for manufacturing organisations to implement lean, just-in-time, make-to-order systems, mainly due to the cost pressures and varying customer preferences. This creates unexpected disturbances within the manufacturing systems, causing delays in delivery time. In order to quickly identify and react to disturbances, it is vital to capture real-time dynamic information related to the parts in production, resources, inventory levels and quality information. In many literatures, product intelligence achieves the fundamental requirements of managing disturbance. Current challenge, however, is that existing researches focused on developing a tracking system dealing with specific disturbance. In this paper, we present a systematic guideline for implementing such a system. The proposed guideline uses principles of product intelligence and combines them with the characteristics of disturbances and the associated information requirements. A case example is also presented to illustrate the developed concepts.

developing neuro-inspired computing paradigms that mimic nervous system function is an emerging field of research that fosters our model understanding of the biological system and targets technical applications in artificial systems. The computational power of simulated brain circuits makes them a very promising tool for the development for brain-controlled robots. Early phases of robotic controllers development make extensive use of simulators as they are easy, fast and cheap tools. In order to develop robotics controllers that encompass brain models, a tool that include both neural simulation and physics simulation is missing. Such a tool would require the capability of orchestrating and synchronizing both simulations as well as managing the exchange of data between them. The Neurorobotics Platform (NRP) aims at filling this gap through an integrated software toolkit enabling an experimenter to design and execute a virtual experiment with a simulated robot using customized brain models. As a use case for the NRP, the iCub robot has been integrated into the platform and connected to a spiking neural network. In particular, experiments of visual tracking have been conducted in order to demonstrate the potentiality of such a platform.

Cloud management becomes increasingly complex and brings high costs, especially with the advent of hybrid cloud. In a hybrid cloud, numerous resources like Virtual Machines (VMs) and Physical Machines in different clouds have to be managed together to make the whole hybrid cloud work cost-effectively. For controlling the management cost, in particular the manual management cost, many programs have been developed to take over manual management tasks or reduce their complexity and difficulty. These programs are usually hard-coded by languages like Java and C++, which bring enough capability and flexibility but also cause high programming effort and cost. As the architecture-based runtime model is causally connected with the corresponding running system automatically, constructing a hybrid cloud management system based on the architecture-based runtime models of clouds can benefit from the model-specific natures, and thus reduce the development workload. This paper proposes a runtime architecture based approach to developing the management programs in a simple but powerful enough manner. First of all, the manageability (such as APIs, configuration files and scripts) of different kinds of clouds, is abstracted as a runtime architecture based model of cloud software architecture, which can automatically and immediately propagate any observable runtime changes of the target platforms to the corresponding architecture models, and vice versa. Second, we provide a unified model of cloud software architecture, according to the domain knowledge of current cloud platforms, such as Cloud Stack, Open Stack and Eucalyptus. Third, the synchronization between the unified model and cloud runtime models is ensured through model transformation, thus, all the management tasks of the hybrid cloud, could be carried out through executing programs on the unified model, which decreases the complexity of use and management. In January 2013, the eHealth TABLET (Technology Assisted Boards for Local government unit Efficiency and Transparency) project began with a two-fold objective of: 1) creating a tablet based system that will integrate existing health information systems to address the national objective of a unified health information management system by 2015 and 2) to create a transparency layer at the local government units such that communication lines between municipal health officers and the mayor are monitored. Bottom up approach was used to ensure that all features requested by multi-stakeholders are included in the design of the system. The end product was a mobile web based system with the mobile application having three main components: the electronic medical record (EMR) application which comprises of the patient record and diagnosis module, the requests/approval application, and the dashboard application for data visualization. Responding to the needs of intended users, the web based application provides the following features: web auxiallry entry, aggregated disease report application and usage monitoring. Regular usage monitoring increased usage over time. For ICT development projects in public health, iteratve involvement of multi-stakeholders is necessary to ensure higher acceptance and adoption. From a design perspective, technologies should be designed to be interoperable such that interfacing with existing systems will be seamless.

developing organisational strategies and achieving set goals is one of the most researched and taught topics in business today. Although management disciplines such as project management are often quoted as important means of implementing and realizing organizational strategies through enabling the realization of successful projects, there is considerable confusion in organizational literature on how this happens. Grounded upon a questionnaire based survey of 456 managers and using component-based structural equation modelling technique, we find that portfolio management (PPM) and benefits management practices enable an organisation to achieve planned strategic goals. While portfolio management does this directly, benefits management achieves this indirectly by reinforcing PPM with the assurance that planned project benefits will be delivered. Furthermore, we find that alignment of Business and IT increases the effectiveness and maturity of the management concepts. We also find that in order to develop mature benefits management practices organizations need to be committed to declaring benefits management as a strategically important discipline and investing relevant resources in the adoption and diffusion of the practices throughout the organization.
