Effective disease surveillance systems require large-scale epidemiological data to improve health outcomes and quality of care for the general population. As data may be limited within a single site, multi-site data (e.g., from a number of local/regional health systems) need to be considered. Leveraging distributed data across multiple sites for epidemiological analysis poses significant challenges. Due to the sensitive nature of epidemiological data, it is imperative to design distributed solutions that provide strong privacy protections. Current privacy solutions often assume a central site, which is responsible for aggregating the distributed data and applying privacy protection before sharing the results (e.g., aggregation via secure primitives and differential privacy for sharing aggregate results). However, identifying such a central site may be difficult in practice and relying on a central site may introduce potential vulnerabilities (e.g., single point of failure). Furthermore, to support clinical interventions and inform policy decisions in a timely manner, epidemiological analysis need to reflect dynamic changes in the data. Yet, existing distributed privacy-protecting approaches were largely designed for static data (e.g., one-time data sharing) and cannot fulfill dynamic data requirements. In this work, we propose a privacy-protecting approach that supports the sharing of dynamic epidemiological analysis and provides strong privacy protection in a decentralized manner. We apply our solution in continuous survival analysis using the Kaplan-Meier estimation model while providing differential privacy protection. Our evaluations on a real dataset containing COVID-19 cases show that our method provides highly usable results. © 2023 ieee.

Recommender systems are of great significance for the difficulty in increasing speed as well as the amount of online information of the users to sort out the relevant content as they offer personalized suggestions. Content-based filtering and collaborative filtering are the two very common types of recommender algorithms, but they are still facing some issues, e.g. sparsity and cold-start problems. To cope with these limitations and increase recommendation accuracy, this study proposes a new form of recommendation system that combines collaborative filtering and content-based filtering to form a hybrid recommender system. The system proposed integrates the advantages of both methods and, therefore, offers more precise and individualized recommendations. As an illustration, the hybrid method shows superiority compared to the traditional methods, which proves that deep learning might be the key to advancing recommendation systems. © 2024 ieee.

In a parallel and distributed application, a mapping is a selection of a processor for each computation or task and memories for the data collections that each task accesses. Finding high-performance mappings is challenging, particularly on heterogeneous hardware with multiple choices for processors and memories. We show that fast mappings are sensitive to the machine, application, and input. Porting to a new machine, modifying the application, or using a different input size may necessitate re-tuning the mapping to maintain the best possible *** present AutoMap, a system that automatically tunes the mapping to the hardware used and finds fast mappings without user intervention or code modification. In contrast, hand-written mappings often require days of experimentation. AutoMap utilizes a novel constrained coordinate-wise descent search algorithm that balances the trade-off between running computations quickly and minimizing data movement. AutoMap discovers mappings up to 2.41× faster than custom, hand-written mappers. © 2023 ACM.

Recently, land cover classification became an evolutionary study in Remote Sensing (RS) satellite interpretations. While extracting features from satellite images, spatial information causes the overfitting issue. In addition, computational complexity is occurring in land cover segmentation due to the usage of complex architectures. Thus, in this research, Multi-scale Skip connected and Asymmetric-Convolution-based U-Net (MACUNet) with pruning method is introduced to reduce the computational complexity. To reduce the overfitting, Batch Normalization (BN) layer is employed, simultaneously 3D Convolutional Neural Network (3D CNN) for feature extraction. Initially, the input is taken as satellite images from the GID dataset, where spatial and temporal features are extracted using 3D CNN model with BN layer. After that, these features are given as input to the MACUNet method to improve segmentation performance. Then, classification is done with class_num value utilization based on identified pixel region maps and classified into six classes such as build up, forest, water, farmland, meadows and others. From the results, the proposed pruned-MACUNet model produces better results than existing GeohashNet in terms of Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) as 80.45% and f1-score as 90.23% respectively. © 2024 ieee.

Spam email detection is crucial for cybersecurity, as it protects user privacy and reduces security risks. The persistent presence of spammers necessitates continuous improvements in spam filtering measures. To address this challenge, this study employs Grid Search Optimizer to fine-tune the parameters of four distinct classifiers: Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest, Naive Bayes, and XGBoost. Soft Voting serves as the final classifier, enhancing overall accuracy by integrating results from optimized classifiers to detect and classify spam emails across the Spam Mails Dataset and Enron1 Dataset. The experimental study compared the proposed model with relevant works and found that hyperparameter tuning and Soft Voting significantly enhanced its performance compared to existing approaches. The proposed ensemble model outperformed individual classifiers, achieving accuracies of 99.32% and 99.12%, respectively. Also, the ensemble model demonstrated an AUC of 1.00 on both datasets, indicating its effectiveness in distinguishing between spam and ham emails. This approach surpasses prior studies in accuracy, generalization, and robustness by innovatively combining Grid Search and Soft Voting. The constructed model exhibits high effectiveness and efficiency in the detection of spam emails. © 2024 ieee.

Caching and coded delivery of content at the wireless edge have significantly enhanced content delivery performance. However, an attempt to incorporate it in various edge computing platform standards is lacking. This paper explores the standardization aspects of a caching and coded delivery system in a Multi-access Edge computing (MEC) enabled 5G system. In this paper, coded delivery is proposed as a MEC service that can be utilized by various applications such as caching applications in the MEC platform. The coded delivery service utilizes the Multicast Broadcast Service (MBS) of the 5G system, employing the Point-To-Multipoint (PTM) delivery method for efficient packet delivery to User equipment (UEs). The proposed system accommodates content caching at end-user devices and MEC storage while efficiently transmitting coded multicast to improve the performance of applications such as video streaming, AR/VR for 5G and beyond. © 2024 ieee.

Data synchronization is a critical aspect in the deployment of Digital Twins within Fog-Edge Cloud environments, ensuring consistency and reliability across distributed systems. However, the security and efficiency of synchronization techniques remain significant challenges. The paper presents a novel algorithm named TwinCrypt, which is designed based on the combination of appropriate encryption algorithm called as Homomorphic Encryption and suitable computing mechanism scheme called as Secure Multi-Party Computation. The algorithm is aimed to achieve secure and efficient data synchronization for Digital Twins in Fog-Edge Cloud environments. The proposed algorithm aims to address vulnerabilities associated with data transmission and storage, offering robust protection against unauthorized access and data breaches. The performance effectiveness of TwinCrypt is analysed by conducting suitable simulations and the simulation results are compared with are conducted comparing it with the existing algorithms used for data synchronization viz. RSA Encryption, AES Encryption, and Zero-Knowledge Proofs in similar environments. Simulation metrics such as latency, throughput, and security overhead are employed to assess the performance of TwinCrypt against its counterparts. The results establish that TwinCrypt outperforms existing algorithms in both security and efficiency, showcasing its suitability for real- world deployment scenarios. © 2024 ieee.

Vehicular fog computing is essential for quick data access to devices and applications, and caching data is a must that plays a vital role in enabling faster responses and making data more available. This work thus investigates using a multilayer caching strategy to make data more readily available to the requesting nodes. The cache in the layers is distributive and updated on time based on the demand and criteria of the requests. We also distribute data using vehicular mobility by placing limited but significant data into the cache of the vehicle. These communication and data exchange types are standardized through policies in our methodology. This cache management design is extensively analyzed using established frameworks and vehicular networks through simulated environments.

Edge computing has become a new computing service model by virtue of its low latency and high performance characteristics. It deploys cloud server resources at the edge of the network to help mobile devices to complete data-intensive, large-scale and complex computing tasks. The heterogeneity of resources and the mobility of devices in the edge environment make the edge heterogeneous environment often suffer from unbalanced distribution of resources and loads, which leads to the reduction of system computing performance and resource utilisation. The CPU-GPU heterogeneous computing system in the edge environment has higher performance than the isomorphic system, and the existing task scheduling strategy still limits the performance of the heterogeneous system. Aiming at the above problems, a task scheduling model for CPU-GPU heterogeneous systems is designed, and a genetic algorithm based on reinforcement learning is proposed to achieve efficient allocation of AI data-intensive tasks. The Q-learning algorithm is used to achieve adaptive adjustment of parameters to solve the complex and high-dimensional task scheduling problem. Simulation experiments are carried out by Edge-cloudsim platform, compared with other methods, the results prove that the QL-GA task scheduling method proposed in this paper can provide an efficient solution to the task scheduling problem in edge heterogeneous computing systems. © 2023 ieee.

The impact of fake news in the present-day world is very high. It has the potential to alter anything irrespective of the profile. Not all fake news is dangerous but some may even ruin the lives of many. There are a lot of existing Fake News Detecting models but most of them mainly struggle to achieve and maintain the accuracy of the model as well as consistent updating of the datasets. Some models face difficulty in multi-language detection while other models struggle in automatic language detection. The proposed model serves as a solution for all the above-mentioned problems and it also includes web scrapping. The cross-dataset experimentation is performed using machine learning techniques for impactful results which primarily focus on Indian news. This model outperforms existing standards with an astonishing 99% accuracy using the logistic regression algorithm. © 2024 ieee.
