Major industries such as additive manufacturing and semiconductors fabrication are rapidly moving towards Industry 4.0 setup and beyond. However, this progress is being impeded by mounting cybersecurity concerns that can lead to design/data tampering, data theft, and denial-of-service. Adding to this problem is the complexity and diversity of the digital infrastructure that is necessary to realize the Industry 4.0 dream. A cybersecurity risk analysis and mitigation of an Industry 4.0 system is not possible without first knowing the exact topology of all the electronic hardware, software, computing, sensors, and edge components that are being used in the said Industry 4.0 system. This is a particularly challenging task due to the diversity of hardware/software and the dynamic nature of these systems. In this article, we propose an automated framework (CAST-Map) that can tackle this challenge by creating a live/dynamic spatio-temporal map of all the cyber/digital components in an Industry 4.0 system. We also propose a novel unsupervised learning guided scheme for computing the system's cybersecurity risk/criticality value by leveraging these spatio-temporal maps. We implement & validate the effectiveness of this framework using a Industry 4.0 testbed & a randomized large scale system generation method.

Technological advancements and the miniaturization of sensors have prompted initiatives to implement these innovations in diverse fields, aiming to enhance the standard of living for individuals. A notable domain that has adopted this technology is the healthcare industry. Individuals requiring healthcare services often encounter high costs, a situation that is especially prevalent in developing nations. Consequently, the project aims to address a pressing healthcare issue that societies are currently facing, with the primary goal of developing a remote healthcare system. By analyzing data via a website, healthcare professionals or guardians can monitor a patient's health status from outside the hospital environment. In this initiative, we have designed a tailored Internet of Things (IoT) framework specifically aimed at healthcare applications. The project's aim was to establish a Health Analyzing System that employs locally sourced sensors, ensuring its cost-effectiveness for potential large-scale production. The suggested model gets the sensor data via the Arduino Nano microcontroller and sends the data to the cloud for processing and analysis., thereby facilitating remote access. The feedback actions derived from the analyzed data can be viewed on the website associated with the device.

Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) are critical for identifying and mitigating potential security threats within network traffic. However, traditional IDS solutions often struggle with scalability and real-time threat detection, particularly in high-volume, high-velocity environments. The proposed work introduces a scalable and efficient IDS that leverages Apache Kafka and Apache Spark to address these challenges. Kafka's robust streaming platform ensures reliable, low-latency data flow, while Apache Spark's parallelized machine learning algorithms (MLlib) enable rapid and accurate classification of network traffic. By combining Kafka's data handling capabilities with Spark's processing efficiency, the proposed system provides fast, adaptive threat detection in real- time. This approach not only enhances IDS performance but also sets the stage for future developments in scalable, distributed IDS solutions. The work demonstrates the potential of big data technologies to improve network security in complex and dynamic network environments. © 2025 ieee.

The proposed system combines smart metering with an automatic power factor correction system based on the Internet of Things. It is customized to improve household settings' use of energy efficiently. The IoT system in the suggested system provides automated power factor adjustment, smart energy management, and real-time monitoring. Using voltage sensor modules and current sensor modules, the full Internet of Things with microcontroller detects the voltage and current of the load. To determine the power and power factor used by the electrical load or appliances linked to the load, a mathematical operation is carried out in addition to the sensor value. The Thingspeak application on the IoT platform is used to view the power, power factor, and energy consumption by load throughout the length of the day. The Thingspeak application facilitates easy navigation of the electrical power and power factor for the user. When the power factor value is excessively low, less than 0.95 to 0.85, the Power Factor Correction (PFC) capacitor bank arrangement is connected to the load. When the capacitor is separated from the load, the load's power factor value falls within the acceptable range of 1.0 to 0.95. Because the load current and power factor are inversely related, the power factor affects it. The cost of power consumption will also rise in tandem with an increase in load current. Smart sensors and IoT systems combined with PFC capacitor banks allow customers to reduce costs, increase energy efficiency, and lessen their environmental effects.

Landslides or slope failures cause significant damage to the transportation infrastructure worldwide, resulting in billions of dollars of property damage. The initial slope movement of highway slopes, caused by environmental factors and man-made activities, must be detected early to prevent significant losses in infrastructure damages and human lives. However, traditional monitoring approaches for slope movement, such as periodic human inspection and surveying, are labor-intensive and time-consuming. With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) and high-speed internet, the potential to use such technologies for monitoring remote earth movement of highway embankments is becoming increasingly important. This paper presents an IoT-based distributed system for the early detection of slope movements to assist transportation authorities in immediately repairing the slope before a major failure occurs. We built a laboratory prototype embankment, equipped with various IoT sensors (e.g., tilt, moisture, and tensiometer sensors), that simulate a failure-prone slope to evaluate the effectiveness of our system. A user-friendly GUI is developed to enable users to utilize the system remotely. The collected sensory data for four months allowed us to analyze the soil hydrologic dynamics and the slope performance by detecting changes in the slope tilting both parallel (pitch) and perpendicular (roll). The experimental results showed that our system could detect negligible movement (1mm) and rotation (0.02°) of slopes.
