Condition monitoring supported with artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and industrial internet of things (IIoT) technologies increases the feasibility of predictive maintenance. However, the cost of traditional sensors, data acquisition systems, and the required information technology expert-knowledge challenge the industry. This paper presents a hybrid condition monitoring system (CMS) architecture consisting of a distributed, low-cost IIoT-sensor solution. The CMS uses micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) microphones for data acquisition, edge computing for signal preprocessing, and cloud computing, including artificial neural networks (ANN) for higher-level information processing. The system's feasibility is validated using a testbed for reciprocating linear-motion axes. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

People with paralysis due to neurological disorders such as stroke and SCI require scheduled rehabilitation exercise to regain muscle function and fitness. Most rehabilitation techniques involve some kind of devices or equipment that are dedicated to it. The sensory system is a key component in supporting the function of rehabilitation devices especially when it has elements of monitoring and control. IMU based systems that employ gyroscopes, accelerometer and magnetometer have a growing interest in measuring movement of body part during rehabilitation exercise. Thus, this study proposed the development of a wearable sensory unit using IMU to monitor the knee joint movement during sitting. The system used MPU9250 as a single sensing component to measure angular position and velocity of the knee. Based on the experimental work outcome, the system was proven to be efficient in performing the measurement of angular position and velocity and providing real time data logging for the purpose of data analysis and system control. Enhancement of this single used sensor to achieve the capabilities of two integrated sensors will be the aim for future work. © 2023 ieee.

In wireless sensor network (WSN) application, one of the most important problems to be considered is power consumption. As a result, a number of methodologies or methods for analyzing the power consumption of the application have been presented. These methodologies may aid in the prediction of the lifespan of WSNs, the providing of suggestions to application developers, and the optimization of the amount of energy utilized by WSN applications. All of the sensors in wireless sensor nodes are rechargeable batteries devices with a limited amount of battery power available. It will be difficult to replace every power supply battery available in the network on an individual basis after deploying of sensor nodes. To sort out these issues, an efficient analyzing technique for analyzing the power consumption of WSN is proposed. In this research work, a prototype model with a simulation model is presented. The proposed research work may lower the amount of power used by each sensor node, while also increasing the life of sensors by shutting down certain of their components in order to achieve higher energy savings and longer life. It is necessary to do an analysis of the power usage of each sensor node before using this power management strategy. As a result of this, the proposed method analyzes the WSN power consumption in real time manner. © 2022 ieee.

The proliferation of loT -enabled gadgets means that ever more information is being created and transmitted over the web. The release of sensitive loT data, however, is a privacy breach. Sensitive information generated by loT devices poses a serious security risk since it is transmitted across an unsecured network. The storage issue may be managed with the help of an external cloud. Cloud storage has the potential to compromise users' privacy. To prevent unauthorised access and maintain confidentiality during data transmission, current systems include symmetric encryption and access restrictions. Blockchain is an exciting distributed ledger technology with the potential to safeguard stored information against manipulation by unscrupulous actors. To protect information from Internet of Things devices, this article suggests using a blockchain-based decentralised access control system. Fog computing and the idea of an alliance chain provide the basis for the suggested approach. In order to encrypt and divide data at the network's edge, fog nodes are employed. Homomorphic encryption is used on the third-party cloud to combine data that has been partitioned and encrypted. The suggested system provides dynamic and granular access control for loT data, mitigating the risk of a single point of failure in access control. Results from experiments showed that this approach effectively protects the confidentiality of data collected from Internet of Things devices. © 2023 ieee.

We developed a tool to track the test person's gaze while conducting tasks in a web browser [1]. In the browser we can only track the mouse pointer, which is known as poor man's eye tracker. However, the mouse pointer does not necessarily reveal on which area of the web page the user is focusing and therefore it does not allow to conclude the attention of the test person. Therefore, we extended the mouse tracking by applying a fog to the web page. Only an area around the mouse pointer is without fog. Consequently, the mouse pointer must follow the gaze. In addition, we developed a visualisation tool to analyze the focus of the user, i.e. determine the areas where the user's eye had enough time to perceive the visible area. In summary, during our work, we developed two tools. One for conducting the crowd-sourced study (Pipe Maze Study), and one for visualizing and evaluating its findings (Pipe Maze Visualizer). Cognitive diagnosis is a fundamental issue in intelligent education, which aims to discover the proficiency level of students on specific knowledge concepts. In this area, the Neural Cognitive Diagnosis (NeuralCD) framework is a good solution. However, the NeuralCD model does not consider the response time of the students when answering questions. In this paper, we proposed an improved neural cognitive diagnostic model by introducing a response time factor into the NeuralCD model, named NeuralCDM-RTF. The core of the response time factor is the answering duration of the student on a problem. The duration of the response time showed the student's proficiency indirectly. We proposed the concept of response time factor and proposed trapezoid model to calculate the response time factor. By performing experiments on real-world datasets, the results show that the NeuralCDM-RTF has higher accuracy than the traditional NeuralCD model while the improved model remains interpretable. © 2023 ieee.

Due to the low cost and tiny sizes of sensor nodes. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are comprised of sensor nodes that are used in a variety of applications where human involvement can be severely difficult such as surveillance systems, agriculture, military operations, environmental monitoring, health care, and human safety. However, there are several challenges, such as the constraint of the sensor node's battery, which limits long-distance data transmission and affects network lifetime and overall network performance. These recurring issues have piqued the interest of both industrial and academic researchers in the last decade. This paper proposes a multi-region based mobile routing (M-RBMR) protocol. The proposed protocol's goals are to minimize energy consumption, increase network stability, and improve network lifetime by implementing a multi-hop communication between clusters and base station (BS) via routing nodes with sensor nodes using shortest path routing to communicate data to BS. The performance of our proposed energy-efficient routing protocol was evaluated and compared to the existing region-based mobile (RBM) routing using the MATLAB tool. The simulation results showed that the proposed protocol M-RBMR outperformed RBM by 12 percent in terms of network stability, and energy conservation respectively, improving the network lifetime by 27 percent and throughput by 80 percent. © 2023 ieee.

Content-based Pub/Sub paradigm has been widely used in many distributed applications and existing approaches suffer from high redundancy subscription index structure and low matching efficiency. To tackle this issue, in this paper, we propose a learning framework to guide the construction of an efficient in-memory subscription index, namely PMlndex, via a multi-task learning framework. The key of PMIndex is to merge redundant subscriptions into an optimal number of partitions for less memory cost and faster matching time. Our initial experimental result on a synthetic dataset demonstrates that PMindex outperforms two state-of-the-arts by faster matching time and less memory cost.

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) with 6G networks promises a huge potential for improvised industrial communication. A large number of low-power communication technologies is expected to be part of 6 G in industrial IoT for data collection, forwarding, and actuation. Industrial IoT (IIOT) requires deterministic network services, which can meet the demand for real-time services. Edge-based solutions can help 6G networks meet the requirements of real-time services demanding lower latency. This work aims to address such real-time demands with efficient use of radio resources using 6TiSCH (IPv6 over Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) mode). In this paper, we propose an edge-based downlink scheduling scheme for the 6TiSCH-based IIoT network named EDSN. EDSN leverages a computation and communication model using edge computing and 6TiSCH scheduling to minimize the overall network latency for downlink data traffic. It schedules actuation (downlink) signals based on the criticality of the received sensor data and the location of the actuators. EDSN analyzes traffic at the edge nodes and allocates a suitable downlink schedule to meet the application requirements of the edge controller. The scheme offers a fair mechanism for provisioning timely schedules for low-priority packets and significantly reduces downlink action times compared to the state-of-the-art. Our experimental results demonstrate that EDSN can effectively reduce response times and improve packet delivery ratios for priority traffic, making it a promising solution for IIoT applications that require low response times and reliable packet delivery. © 2024 ieee.

6G systems, such as Large Intelligent Surfaces, will require distributed, complex, and coordinated decisions throughout a very heterogeneous and cell free infrastructure. This will require a fundamentally redesigned software infrastructure accompanied by massively distributed and heterogeneous computing resources, vastly different from current wireless networks. To address these challenges, in this paper, we propose and motivate the concept of a 6G computing Continuum (6GCC) and two research testbeds, to advance the rate and quality of research. 6G computing Continuum is an end-to-end compute and software platform for realizing large intelligent surfaces and its tenant users and applications. One for addressing the challenges or orchestrating shared computational resources in the wireless domain, implemented on a Large Intelligent Surfaces testbed. Another simulation-based testbed is intended to address scalability and global-scale orchestration challenges.
