Hyperledger Fabric, which satisfies decentralization and security, is one of the most popular blockchain distributed ledger technologies, but in high-throughput, high-concurrency distributed scenarios, concurrency conflicts can cause transactions to fail, resulting in significant network bandwidth and resource waste. In this paper, we deeply analyze the operation flow of Fabric's underlying transactions, and propose a solution to concurrent transaction conflicts in Fabric based on distributed locks and message queues. Redis is used to implement the locking mechanism of concurrent keys, and the ChaincodeEvent event listener is used to detect the transactions and realize the unlocking operation;on this basis, the message asynchronous retry mechanism, i.e., use the message queue RabbitMQ to re-consume the conflicting transactions to solve the concurrent transaction conflicts encountered against Fabric at present. Experiments show that the proposed approach can significantly improve the concurrency capability of the system, including transaction success rate and effective transaction throughput, under different levels of transaction conflicts;it does not affect the performance of the system in the absence of transaction conflicts. © 2023 ieee.

Achieving maximum coverage of targets in a sensing network while minimizing the usage of directional sensors presents a formidable challenge. The rising popularity of pivoting directional sensors, capable of scanning signals from multiple angles, offers a promising solution to reduce sensor count while preserving or enhancing coverage quality. To address this challenge, we propose the development of a scheduling strategy that optimally leverages a limited set of directional sensors to cover a wide array of targets. By employing Genetic Algorithms and Average Differential Evolution algorithms (GADE), we successfully devised pragmatic layouts for directional sensors that are nearly optimal, along with identifying optimal routes for an array of detectors, facilitating efficient data collection. Through the implementation of GADE simulations, we conducted a comparative analysis against the traditional greedy approach. Our results reveal that the hybrid GADE approach consistently achieves a superior balance between the expanse of monitored areas and the operational sensors, outperforming greedy algorithms by a margin ranging from 44% to 8%. Notably, the simulation experiments underscore that the hybrid GADE method consistently generates more effective schedules and directions in contrast to the conventional greedy technique. © 2023 ieee.

This research paper presents an advanced decentralized control approach for an independent AC microgrid with renewable energy-based distributed energy resources (DERs), including two solar PV-BESS systems. The DERs are connected to the microgrid through a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) network. The regulation of VSI voltage and frequency utilizes droop control, enhanced by integrating a phase-locked loop (PLL) system for inverter synchronization. The control approach ensures seamless power distribution and maintains voltage and frequency within specified limits across different operational scenarios. The control operations are based on the stationary frame (α-β) established via Clarke's transformation. Proportional and resonant (PR) controllers are employed to regulate VSI voltage and current, ensuring performance and stability. The proposed control approach is validated through MATLAB/Simulink simulations, covering PV system behavior, load dynamics, and DER connection challenges. © 2023 ieee.

In an environment of ever-growing numbers of IoT devices and distributed software systems, we face particular challenges regarding updates and maintenance of the underlying system. Generally, this maintenance of all nodes would require human interaction and is costly and time-consuming. A solution to that are self-adaptive software systems (SAS) [1], [2], which handle the growing complexity of distributed software systems by enabling run-time adaptation. Decentralized solutions [3] for SAS (dSAS) have been developed recently to eliminate single points of failures and bottlenecks compared to centralized approaches where the adaptation logic relies on a single node. However, dSAS require a sophisticated coordination mechanism to ensure a reliable adaptation process on multiple, decentralized devices. Existing approaches for the coordination of the adaptation execution [4]–[6] are based on concepts of the Two-Phase-Commit (2PC) protocol [7] to execute structural adaptations which modify the systems architecture depending on the current context. They ensure a consistent outcome of the adaptation on all nodes - either all adaptations are performed or rolled back - and thus, in any case, a consistent system configuration. In case of an error or disconnection during the adaptation, intermediate changes and modifications get reverted to their original state. This imposes a drawback for self-optimizing (i.e., increasing performance, efficiency, and quality) [8] adaptations, where the system should work even if one node fails to adapt. A rollback is non-essential when the whole system can continue working even if the execution failed for parts of the system. In our system model, this partial adaptation improves the overall task execution. Our work aims to tackle those issues of a strict transactional approach for adaptation by introducing a relaxed consistency constraint for dSAS. Hearing-impaired and speech-impaired people communicate not only with themselves but also with ordinary people using visual languages. Sri Lankan Sign Language (SSL) is the standard visual language used in Sri Lanka. Like other sign languages, the SSL relies on a distinct combination of hand gestures, body movements, and facial expressions for communication. As a result, SSL is more challenging for individuals without knowledge of SSL to understand. On the other hand, the steep learning curve associated with SSL makes it even more difficult to acquire. Thus, the interpretation of SSL has become a need. However, Sri Lanka is suffering from a severe dearth in the availability of SSL interpreters. This justifies the need to use either vision-based or sensor-based technological approaches to help the interpretation of SSL. However, vision-based approaches are susceptible to conditions such as skin tone, background color, ambient light intensity, and real-time constraints, whilst the sensor-based solutions are generally better in gesture recognition. Further, there is no attempt has been made on developing a cost-effective, portable, and real-time solution to accurately interpret the hand gestures of SSL. In this paper, we, therefore, present a novel, wearable, sensor-based, real-time gesture recognition glove, and a machine-learning Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model to recognize the hand and finger positions in three-dimensional space for classification and interpretation of SSL. The proposed approach has achieved 320ms of lowest inference time while showing a promising result of 83% for categorical accuracy. Our aim is to help the interpretation of SSL with an affordable, portable as well as a real-time solution. © 2023 ieee.

Underwater wireless communication is of paramount importance for various critical applications, including military surveillance, navigation, disaster prevention, and commercial activities. While terrestrial networks have made significant strides in protocol development and resource allocation, the unique underwater environment poses distinctive challenges that cannot be addressed by traditional wireless communication protocols. This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the hurdles associated with Underwater Wireless sensor Network (UWSN) deployment, encompassing architectural considerations, protocol design, energy efficiency, communication channel allocation, and routing strategies. A crucial aspect of preparing for successful UWSN deployment is the creation of mathematical models that allow for the evaluation of performance metrics in the challenging underwater environment. Such models serve as a vital tool for predicting the behavior of communication systems and optimizing their performance before actual deployment. In this paper, we delve into the significance of constructing mathematical models tailored to the underwater environment, shedding light on how they can aid in the analysis of system performance. Furthermore, this paper provides a valuable resource by listing and discussing suitable mathematical approaches that can be applied to the unique underwater environment. These approaches are indispensable for the development of efficient underwater communication systems and applications. By addressing the challenges and emphasizing the importance of mathematical modeling, this research contributes to the advancement of underwater wireless communication technologies, facilitating their widespread and effective use in critical domains. © 2023 ieee.

In order to reduce the communication load in general distributed computing frameworks such as MapReduce Li et al. introduced coded distributed computing (CDC). The authors in [1] proposed a scheme for cascaded coded distributed computing on general networks. Although the numbers of input files and output functions in [1] are much less than those in [2], large numbers of input files and output functions are still required. In this paper, we present a new CDC scheme which 1) designs the assignments of input file and output function;2) requires less number of input files and output functions compared with those in the scheme derived by [1]. Meanwhile, the ratio of communication load to that of the scheme in [1] is less than 4/3. © 2022 ieee.

Submarine Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) or Under Water sensor Networks (UWSNs) can exploit natural undersea infrastructure and collect science in watery conditions. Features of underwater MSN (Mobile sensor Networks) which is the bandwidth of low connectivity, delayed propagation, moving node, and the maximum likelihood of fault vary greatly from terrestrial WSN. In mobile under WSN, therefore, communication systems that are both energy-efficient and cost-effective are critical. This article provides a routing strategy for resolving these issues in upcoming WSNs, in which a fuzzy logic inference system is applied to determine which sensors should route packages to their target. The protocol proposed in the analysis for mobile UWSNs is compared to a relevant routing system. The testing findings confirm that the suggested work is successful and feasible. © 2022 ieee.

In this research article, the objective revolves around the refinement of precision in wireless sensor network (WSN) localization. A pivotal challenge in this domain pertains to the mitigation of localization errors. To tackle this predicament, the study harnesses the capabilities of nature-inspired algorithms, specifically Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Firefly Optimization (FF). Recognizing the inherent potency of these algorithms, the research ingeniously fuses their attributes to create hybrid iterations, denoted as PSO + FF and GA + FF. These hybrid versions are meticulously designed to harness the collective strengths of both PSO and FF, thereby augmenting their efficacy. Through an exhaustive regime of simulated analyses, this article meticulously examines the performance of these hybrid algorithms. The outcomes of the study resoundingly affirm the dominance of the hybrid approaches, as they exhibit heightened efficiency and accuracy when tasked with solving the intricate localization conundrums within WSNs. The research serves as a significant stride in the evolution of localization techniques, emphasizing precision and proficiency as paramount attributes. The implications of these findings are extensive, encompassing a diverse spectrum of applications within the realm of WSNs. These range from environmental monitoring and surveillance to healthcare and beyond. By addressing the formidable challenge of localization errors through the innovative amalgamation of PSO and FF, this research offers a substantial contribution to the practical enhancement of WSNs. Through the strategic utilization of these hybrid algorithms, the study bridges the gap between theoretical prowess and real-world application, unlocking new possibilities in the landscape of WSN technology. © 2023 ieee.

Cell-Free networking is one of the prime candidates for 6G networks. Despite being capable of providing the 6G needs, practical limitations and considerations are often neglected in current research. In this work, we introduce the concept of federations to dynamically scale and select the best set of resources, e.g., antennas, computing and data resources, to serve a given application. Next to communication, 6G systems are expected to provide also wireless powering, positioning and sensing, further increasing the complexity of such systems. Therefore, each federation is self-managing and is distributed over the area in a cell-free manner. Next to the dynamic federations, new accompanying terminology is proposed to design cell-free systems taking into account practical limitations such as time synchronization and distributed processing. We conclude with an illustration with four federations, serving distinct applications, and introduce two new testbeds to study these architectures and concepts.
