Industry 5.0 is a new paradigm that seeks to improve production via the use of cutting-edge technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing. distributed denial of service (DDoS) assaults, for example, may severely harm industrial processes and disrupt the whole supply chain, but this integration of technology also presents significant security issues. Therefore, it is crucial in the age of Industry 5.0 to create reliable DDoS attack detection systems. In this research, we offer a DDoS attack detection system for the Industry 5.0 environment that makes use of Digital Twins (DTs) and Machine Learning (ML). Our method takes use of the strengths of DTs to model the production flow virtually, which can then be used to track the system’s behaviour and spot any hiccups. For further analysis of the DTs’ output data in order to spot possible DDoS assaults, we use explicable ML algorithms like the decision tree classifier.

Security and traceability of smart sensor data in centrally organized IoT-architectures require a third party of trust. In order to overcome this issue, distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) apply consensus mechanisms. Current approaches suggest DLT-based IoT-architectures which are static and only provide limited data precision in specific applications. Thus, they rely on custom tokens and additional technologies such as SQL databases. In addition, the design of the applied smart contracts (sc) allow unauthorized access. In contrast, in this paper an adaptable, scalable and purely DLT-based IoT-architecture for secure and decentral software services is proposed. It employs sc for the secure and decentralized interaction between users, software services and IoT devices, such as smart sensors. Thereby, sc are adjustable and their access is controlled by an address comparison of authorized wallets. Finally, a case-study on a sc based software service for an industrial smart temperature sensor demonstrates applicability and benefits of the proposed approach.

Decentralized and distributed autonomous sensing over networked sensorsystems has many applications in surveillance, Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous cars, and UAV swarms tactics. In this study, we develop an average consensus-based decentralized data fusion approach for a target tracking application. Specifically, we extend the standard average consensus algorithm to merge the local state estimate information with that of the neighbors. We test the performance of our consensus based data fusion approach for various network configurations. We also perform numerical studies to compare the performance of our approach against the standard Bayesian data fusion approach.

In this paper, we present a fault diagnosis approach based on a probabilistic model, more specifically a Bayesian one, while relying on a distributed Multi-Agent systems paradigm. First, a networked control water system benchmark is introduced, then a Bayesian approach for fault diagnosis is provided where inference and time dependencies between operating modes of systems are tackled. It is suggested that a Multi-Agent System, where entities interact and cooperate in a distributed architecture while expressing subjective knowledge of the system, is relevant regarding fault handling and offers more flexibility in the implementation and data collection.
