Internet has enabled the growth of infrastructures, applications, and technologies that significantly enhance global interactions and collaborations that have transformative impact on society. Unprecedented cyber-social, and cyber-physical infrastructures and systems that span geographic boundaries are possible because of the Internet and the growing number of collaborations enabling technologies. Individuals and organizations have increasingly relied on electronic and/or Internet-enabled collaboration among distributed teams of humans, computer applications, and/or autonomous robots to achieve higher productivity and develop collaboratively products and ideas that would have been impossible without the contributions of multiple collaborators. Technology has evolved from standalone tools, to open systems supporting collaboration in multiorganizational settings, and from general purpose tools to specialized collaboration platforms. Future collaboration and Internet computing solutions that further the goal of achieving the full potential of global level collaboration require advancements in networking technology and systems, user interfaces and interaction, cooperation and collaboration paradigms, and interoperation with application-specific components and tools. ieee CIC has been conceived as the key multidisciplinary venue to serve as a premier international forum for discussion among academic and industrial researchers and practitioners interested in these advancements that empower collaboration and Internet computing. This year we have again centered the main core of ieee CIC to the following three themes: Enabling Internet-scale collaborative networking & computing, Approaches to collaboration, and Applications of Internet collaborative computing. We have received submissions covering several interesting topics such as Internet-based technologies and infrastructure for collaboration, cloud to fog/edge for collaborative computing, data and service models for coll

The coherently distributed sources model is more suitable to support the DOA estimation for massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems. Since a large number of antennas brings unbearable computing burden of the DOA estimation, we propose a low-complexity DOA estimation algorithm for coherently distributed sources by utilizing unitary ESPRIT in beamspace. Specifically, by choosing fewer beams in two-dimensional beamspace for DOA estimation, the dimension of the output vector decreases so that the complexity is greatly reduced. In addition, the U-ESPRIT algorithm is utilized in beamspace and the azimuth angle and the elevation angle are automatically coupled with low complexity. Moreover, the proof of rotation invariance and the analysis of complexity guarantee the feasibility of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm for massive MIMO systems.

Many developing countries like India continuously strive to improve the quality of arterial network- roads of the country, but to do this effectively and efficiently they lack real time information on road health. With real-time information, they would be able to instantly plan, prioritize, and perform the road maintenance work. This would drastically bring down the number of accidents. A priority-based maintenance plan would help the civic authorities in sanctioning funds to repair the damaged high traffic roads at the earliest Our endeavour in this project is to detect potholes using accelerometers mounted on four-wheeler vehicles through comparative analysis of data. It is followed by classification of potholes and mapping of the location on a GUI based Android Application which can be made available for public use, providing information about the location and severity of potholes in real-time. Index Terms—Pothole detection, Accelerometer, GPS module, NodeMCU, sensor Network

The colorimetric approaches based on CIE1931 and HSV [Hue Saturation Value] color space were considered in the article as a prospective method of characterization of the reflectance response of the optical sensor. The transfer matrix method was used for the determination of reflectivity spectra of porous silicon based distributed Bragg reflectors with pores filled with analyte with refractive index in the range 1.3...1.4. Traditional parameters of the sensor as the position of peak maxima and FWHM, CIE1931 colorimetric parameters as dominant wavelength and excitation purity, [H S V] components were determined for different low and high values of refractive indexes of layers of the optical sensor.

This paper is concerned with the observer design for one-dimensional class of nonisothermal tubular reactors considering in-domain pointwise measurements of temperature over the entire spatial domain. A Lyapunov-based design method is derived for the PDE system providing sufficient conditions, in the form of standard linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), for the exponential convergence of the estimation error with a given decay rate. The approach is applied and tested with a representative case of a tubular reactor with non-monotonic kinetics satisfying the sufficient solvability conditions. Simulation results support the effectiveness of the suggested design.

Intelligent and complex human motion analysis can help design the next generation IoT and AR/VR systems for automated human performance assessment. Such an automated system can help advocate the interpretability and translatability of complex human motions, intelligent motion feedback, and fine-grained motion skill assessment to design next-generation interactive human-machine teaming systems. Motivated by this, we design a wearable sensing framework for assessing the players’ performance and consider a live badminton game as our use case. Generally, the players on the field try to improve their performance by focusing on fast and synchronous coordination of their limbs’ reflex actions to have the ideal body postures to perform the desired shot. Learning the minute dissimilarities and distinctive traits from each limb of the players simultaneously can help assess the players’ performance and specific skillsets during a game. This paper proposes a multi-task learning framework, PerMTL to learn the shared features from each player’s limb. The PerMTL comprises a task-specific regressor output layer that helps to determine the dissimilarities and distinctive traits between the player’s limbs for collective inference in a body sensor network (BSN) environment. We evaluate the PerMTL framework using publicly available Badminton Activity Recognition (BAR) and Daily and Sports Activities (DSA) datasets. Empirical results indicate that PerMTL achieves R 2 Score of ≈ 82% in predicting the players’ performance.
