The increase in pollution levels in water bodies has made water scarce for agricultural needs. Technology in irrigation not only overcomes this rising problem but also increases the efficiency of the farmers, thereby increasing the Gross Domestic Product of a country. This paper aims at using IoT in indoor irrigation methods to control the wastage of water and increase the efficiency of the soil. The proposed system reads the sensor data and handles water automatically (using relay motors and sprinklers) through a Control System board. A WiFi module is used for communication between sensors and base stations. Continuous detected information dealing with and showing on the server is cultivated using graphical UI. Remote checking of the field water system framework decreases human intercession and permits remote observing and controlling on the android phone. distributed computing is an alluring answer for the huge measure of information created by the remote sensor arrangement. This paper proposes and assesses a cloud-based remote correspondence framework to screen and control a lot of sensors and actuators to evaluate the plants' water needs. A light source powered by solar energy is used to manage the temperature of the soil according to season/crop needs. © 2020 ieee.

As a solution to the sensor data deluge, edge computing processes sensor data by means of local devices. Many of these devices are resource-scarce in terms of the available processing capabilities and battery power. To achieve the required design trade-offs of edge applications, developers must be able to understand the performance and resource utilization of data processing algorithms. An increasing number of edge-based applications use machine learning (ML) as their key functionality. However, the performance and resource utilization of ML algorithms remain poorly understood, thus hindering the system design of edge-based ML applications. In addition, developers often cannot access real-world edge-based test beds during the design phase. To address this problem, we present an approach for estimating the performance of edge-based ML applications, with a particular application to clustering. To that end, we first comprehensively evaluate the performance and resource utilization of widely used clustering algorithms deployed in a representative edge environment. Second, we identify which properties of these algorithms are correlated with their performance and resource utilization. Finally, we apply our findings to create STARGAZER, a Deep Neural Network that given a clustering algorithm's computational load and input data size, estimates how this algorithm would perform and utilize resources in an edge-based application. Our tool provides viable decision-making support for addressing the multifaceted design challenges of edge-based ML applications.

This paper brings an overview of the designed system for monitoring hydrothermal soil CO2 flux, especially its wireless infrastructure based on a private LoRaWAN network. There are interesting results in terms of LoRaWAN performance in the target location valley of river Beeva in the Hranice karst, a hydrothermal karst area located in the eastern Czech Republic, home of the famous deepest freshwater abyss in the world - Hranice Abbys. The main obtained key result is the overall performance of LoRaWAN infrastructure in the target area, based on iC880A gateway and nodes with Microchip RN2483, all registered in The Things Network. Measured data were obtained by sending WGS84 format coordinates through the network. Upon reception, the gateway supplemented the data with the parameters of the received signal and stored with the data to Google Spreadsheets. Since the weakest RSSI received within the are is well above -120 dBm, not reaching the -135 dBm limit of the gateway, the results suggest relatively good potential of this technology in this application, even though the environment is quite of diverse character, therefore the obstacles are not uniformly distributed and growing distance does not always imply more obstructing objects in the signal path.

This paper proposes a visual analytics framework that addresses the complex user interactions required through a command-line interface to run analyses in distributed data analysis systems. The visual analytics framework facilitates the user to manage access to the distributed servers, incorporate data from the source, run data-driven analysis, monitor the progress, and explore the result using interactive visualizations. We provide a user interface embedded with generalized functionalities and access protocols and integrate it with a distributed analysis system. To demonstrate our proof of concept, we present two use cases from the earth science and Sustainable Human Building Ecosystem research domain.

Aiming at the special background of continuous tracking of mid-range targets by space-based optical sensor networks, by analyzing the essential characteristics of mid-range target continuous tracking, we proposed a space-based optical sensor scheduling model to optimize target detection and tracking performance jointly. Specifically we employed the real-valued particle swarm optimization algorithm to find the optimal solution. To demonstrate the superiority of our model, we compared our results with GDOP model, which only considers the tracking accuracy. The comparative results show that the tracking accuracy of the proposed model is comparable to the GDOP model. However, the detection probability of our model is significantly improved, which demonstrates that our model can achieve superior detection accuracy while maintaining good tracking performance. © 2020 ieee.

With the increase of data center scale, monitoring the status of its internal running devices has become the basis of automatic operations. Traditional environmental monitoring is often based on fixed sensors with limited server racks to collect temperature and humidity data, which cannot be effectively combined with the server task scheduling and resource allocation system. In order to provide reliable services to users, a reliable and low-power data center environmental data monitoring system is needed to collect and analyze data such as temperature, humidity and smoke. This paper presents a data center monitoring system based on edge computing, which uses edge computing and wireless sensor network technology to monitor the running status of the data center. The edge device collects the environmental data in real time, and then obtains the real-time running state parameters of the server through Intelligent Platform Management Interface. By analyzing the environmental data of the data center, the energy consumption and operating parameters of the server can be monitored and adjusted.

Many significant challenges related to transportation systems have been raised recently, these include the high accidents rate, road congestion, emission of gases, and environment pollution. Furthermore, transportation crashes caused injuries in accident. Researchers investigated virtual methodologies to automate the transportation process that known as Intelligent Transport System (ITS). In the last 20 years, ITS have been employed efficiently to enhance the performance of transportation systems, improve security of travel, and provide several choices for travelers. The idea of virtual technologies integration is a novel in transportation field. Collecting data from multi-sources played a significant improvement in ITS, this can help stakeholders for processing different forms of data. This huge amount of data can significantly help in the revolution of ITS. This paper focused on several Autonomous vehicles (AVs) related technologies that employed efficiently in ITS. This review integrates and synthesizes monitoring AVs using data fusion from different data sources. Furthermore, recent technologies and software toolboxes are presented in this paper to facilitate the researchers job in improving the data and sensor fusion in AVs.

The system is a wireless network of various distributed devices which with the help of sensors will monitor temperature and pollutants at a single location. As the name suggests, wireless sensor network, it is a group of wireless, battery- powered nodes which have different tasks to do, as in our project there are two nodes. One is used to measure the presence of COin the environment and second one is used to measure the temperature in a server room. As in server room, there are lot of machines and servers which are connected to each other and as a result the machines produce a lot of heat. Sometimes accidently this heating can cause fire in server room. Hence we are placing a node inside a server room which will continuously measure the temperature and send the data to base node which is situated outside the room having a LCD and a CO2 sensor. The wireless devices are called as sensor nodes. It has limited radio transmission and storage size. The basic job of a sensor node is to collect important data, process the data. Hence in our project there two nodes which are connected to each other and they both will send and receive data from each other with the help of transceiver. This system will consist of a gateway which will receive data from sensors and transmit it to server side, sensors to sense the amount of CO2 presence and sensor nodes.

distributed generation (DG) and shunt capacitors are widely adopted for minimizing power loss in distributed networks. But the high cost of DG units puts a limitation on employing higher rating DGs in distribution networks. So, it is desired that less DG size gives maximum loss reduction for achieving the objective of minimum overall cost of the system. The prominent goal of this paper is to curb the total expenditure occurring due to annual energy loss and cost incurred in installing DG units and capacitor banks. An unsullied methodical approach has been presented in this paper to find out optimal position and rating of DG as well as capacitor units so that the overall cost would be minimal. The method is tested on standard ieee 69 bus distribution system and 130 bus Indian distribution systems. The outcomes of both the test systems are optimistic and found to be promising when compared with the previous ones.

In the current ICT world, billions of smart devices utilise computational, network and storage resources of complex systems. These devices are composed of various sensors and connected to Internet of Things systems, which are often managed by Fog or Cloud computing services. Within the fog paradigm, nodes are deployed close to the user devices to reach a higher quality of service, achieved by faster and more reliable communication, compared to the former, cloud-based operations. Though fog models are already implemented in some distributed system simulators, they are far not complete and need further research. In this paper, we present a revision and extension of the DISSECT-CF-Fog simulation environment, which provides a more detailed fog model by enhanced location awareness and multi-layer fog node management to foster IoT application execution. To validate our proposal, we developed different, basic task allocation strategies for IoT-Fog-Cloud environments. We also propose a sophisticated fuzzy-based allocation algorithm using the Pliant system that is able to react to multiple system parameter changes. Finally, we evaluate these strategies for different scenarios in terms of cost, network utilisation, data management and application makespan.
