In military and civilian applications, target localization is one of the crucial techniques to improve spatial awareness and enable location services without human intervention. However, in a noisy and cluttered environment, it is challenging to achieve high estimation accuracy due to inherent measurement error and clutter-reflected measurement via non-line of sight (NLOS) link between radar sensors and target. In this paper, we propose a multi-reference based target localization (MRTL) process to estimate the location of targets using time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurement. Compared to single reference TDOA systems where target localization may fail in some cases due to sensor-target geometry and TDOA error, the proposed MRTL can be a reliable and robust solution by utilizing multiple reference sensors simultaneously. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of our proposed MRTL process.

Wireless communication inside the mine is much challenging as compared to the communication above the surface. The signal gets highly attenuated due to numerous attenuation and path loss components which are generally absent above the surface. The traditional rooms and pillar or longwall techniques used for mining communication, introduce multipath. Again, choosing a suitable frequency becomes paramount as the ionic air present inside the mines affects signal propagation. So, a detailed study of all the existing works is essential for developing future wireless communication systems inside the mines. Numerous existing works focus on ieee 802.11b and ieee 802.15.4 technologies for communication inside the mines. However, no work giving the actual range obtained with these technologies inside the mine is present. The present work compiles, classifies, and compares the different existingwireless communication technologies used in an underground mine communication system. The work also undertakes a range study in an actual coal mine. The coverage range with ieee 802.11b and ieee 802.15.4 is similar to 83% and similar to 62% lesser, respectively, as compared to that on the surface.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) is a fundamental portion of different applications. One of those applications is Internet of Things (IoT). IoT sensor-based applications have become one of the most used applications in various fields. Whereas the surrounding data is sensed by sensor nodes and transmitted to its destination. sensors are mostly attached with a limited source of power like batteries. Therefore, finding an efficient routing algorithm to save energy has become a must. In this paper, we present a new routing algorithm that is aimed to elongate the network lifetime and conserve the energy of sensor nodes. A hybrid intelligent algorithm is proposed. Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm are used in our proposed algorithm. Whereas GA is used to select the efficient cluster head. The fitness function of GA considers distance and energy parameters while selecting the cluster heads. Then, ACO is used for data transmission. Furthermore, the distance and energy parameters are considered in ACO while choosing the best path to transmit data from a cluster head to the base station. The performance of the proposed hybrid routing algorithm was compared with Enhanced LEACH algorithm and GA-PSO algorithm. The results of the comparison show that the network lifetime of our proposed hybrid routing algorithm lives 3.1% longer than GA-PSO and 21.2% longer than Enhanced LEACH. This means that our proposed algorithm saves the nodes’ energy and prolongs the network lifetime more than GA-PSO and Enhanced LEACH algorithms.

Emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled convergence in various research areas like wearable electronics, wireless networks, sensors, control systems and embedded systems. Important application areas of healthcare and agriculture are largely benefited with IoT. Remote monitoring of water quality parameters is one such area where IoT can be largely deployed. A Long-range communication (LoRa) is a recent addition to IoT which covers large areas under its wireless network and has ultra-low power consumption. In this paper, a LoRa based monitoring system for measuring water quality parameters of a water reservoir in Symbiosis University’s Lavale Campus is implemented. A wireless floating LoRa transmitter is placed in the reservoir to hourly measure water quality parameters like water temperature, turbidity and pH. A study on effect of various configuration parameters of a LoRa device on time on air (ToA) and battery life is also presented.
Energy efficiency in Wireless sensor Network (WSN)-based Internet of Things (IoT) systems is a very challenging issue since IoT is becoming more complex due to its large scale deployment. Cluster-based hierarchical ro...

Kyber, an IND-CCA-secure key encapsulation mechanism (KEM) based on the MLWE problem, has been shortlisted for the third round evaluation of the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization. In this paper, we explored the optimizations of Kyber in high-performance processors from the ARM Cortex-A series, which are widely used in mainstream mobile phones. To improve the performance of Kyber, we utilized the powerful SIMD instruction set NEON in an ARMv8-A to parallelize the core modules of Kyber, i.e., modular reduction and NTT. Specifically, we specially designed the optimized implementation based on the characteristic of the NEON instruction set for the Barrett and Montgomery reduction algorithms. To make full use of the computing power of NEON instructions, we proposed a novel strategy for computing the 16-bit Barrett reduction without handling the 32-bit intermediate result. Our Barrett and Montgomery reduction showed 8.52 and 8.89 times faster than the reference implementation. As for NTT/INTT, we adopted the 2+5 layer merging strategy on an ARMv8-A to implement NTT/INTT after carefully analyzing the register occupancy of various layer merging techniques. Thanks to the selected layer merging strategy, our NTT and INTT achieved 11.89 and 13.45 times speedups compared with the reference implementation. Our optimized software achieved 1.77×, 1.85×, and 2.16× speedups for key generation, encapsulation, and decapsulation compared with Kyber's reference implementation.
