In current Datacenter Networks (DCNs), Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) is a default load balancing scheme. However, using ECMP may result in rapid growth of Flow Completion Time (FCT) due to its well-known drawbacks. In order to solve the problem of ECMP, load balancing schemes with per-packet granularity (such as RPS) and per-flowlet granularity (such as LetFlow) are proposed. These two different granularities have their own features, but there's no existing load balancing considering both their advantages. In this paper, we mix per-flowlet and per-packet in scheduling decisions and introduce the potential performance bottleneck in mixed granularities load balancing. Based on this idea, we propose a hybrid scheme for load balancing, referred to as BOBBLE. The key idea of BOBBLE is to distinguish elephant and mouse flows and schedule them with different granularity. We evaluate BOBBLE in simulations with NS-3. Experiment shows that BOBBLE slightly sacrifices elephant flows FCT but it is worthy because our results demonstrate that BOBBLE is a good trade-off which outperforms RPS and LetFlow in mouse flows FCT in both symmetric and asymmetric topology. © 2021 ieee.

Haptic technology enables robots to touch and understand the interactions between objects in the reality. Advanced haptic sensing systems can not only collect pressure, temperature and stiffness of touched objects, but also avoid destructive operations, and assist in navigation and posture control for robots. In order to smoothly interact with different types of objects, in the haptic system, it is necessary to develop haptic object recognition methods for effective haptic perception capability. However, compared to RGB images, haptic images collected by optically-based haptic sensors are similar in appearance, which makes traditional convolutional neural networks (e.g.,ResNet, VGG, etc.) ineffective. Therefore, in this paper, we are inspired by popular attention mechanism and multi-scale strategies, and propose a cross-scale attention based haptic object recognition network for object-robot interaction. In particular, On the one hand, we design a cross-scale attention module in convolutional neural networks to acquire spatial contextual feature. On the other hand, we design a learnable bilinear fusion strategy to integrate above spatial contextual feature with original haptic feature, so as to effectively discriminate haptic images. Experimental results on ViTac dataset have shown the effectiveness of our approach.

The sensor nodes that make up a Wireless sensor Network (WSN) can be located anywhere and are linked wirelessly so that they can all keep tabs on the same set of physical characteristics in the area of interest. The nodes in a WSN run on internal batteries, thus when they run out of energy after repeated uses, the network has a shorter lifespan. Clustering and routing methods are frequently utilized in WSN to improve energy efficiency and network lifetime. For WSN's cluster-based routing, this work introduces the innovative black widow optimization with firefly algorithm (FFA). The suggested BWO-FF algorithm comprises BWO based clustering procedure to elect an optimal set of cluster heads (CHs). The BWO algorithm creates a fitness function utilizing input parameters. In addition, route selection for inter-cluster communication requires an FF-based routing method. This routing method aims to enhance network throughput and lifetime by calculating the ideal route from each node to the sink in an effort to ensure uniform energy consumption across the network. MATLAB simulations have been used to analyze the proposed approach from several perspectives. The BWO-FF algorithm's superiority to all other techniques studied is guaranteed by a selection of comparison evaluations. © 2024 ieee.

In recent years, due to the rapid development of computer vision technology, real-time detection and tracking of objects using computer vision has become a hot topic. Object detection mainly consists of two parts: object segmentation and object recognition, that is, object acquisition. Accurate detection of targets is the key to achieving high-precision and high-efficiency tracking. Based on the above discussion, this article explored the target detection and tracking of survey robots using the multimodal Internet of Things (IoT) sensor data fusion of YOLOv5, and compared and analyzed the performance of direct frame difference method, traditional ORB method, and the algorithm in this paper through experiments. The results indicated that the accuracy and recall of the robot image object detection algorithm proposed in this paper were both above 90%, and higher than other algorithms, indicating that the algorithm has extremely high accuracy in object detection. © 2024 ieee.

sensor data streaming platforms feed pervasive applications with data through continuous processing tasks. Outliers should be constantly removed from the data. The existence of ontologies and their semantics to express the different properties of sensing devices in semantic models can be leveraged towards solving the problem of outlier detection. We present an outlier detection data stream operator based on sensor ontology-based definitions. This outlier detection operator could be defined and adjusted to fit in different use cases with different requirements. We provide a proof of concept implementation of the operator using a Data Stream Management System and evaluate the effect of increasing outlier rates in data sets on the overall performance of the outlier detection. © 2023 ieee.

In distributed systems, along with generic jobs which can run on any distributed processor, there exist also some local jobs which need to run in a subset of the distributed processors for data locality reasons. In such environments, it is particularly challenging to employ effective scheduling techniques in order to avoid long delays of local jobs due to generic jobs execution and to reach the required level of Quality of Service (QoS). To achieve this goal, imprecise computation of generic jobs is permitted under certain conditions. In this research all jobs, generic and local, have a linear workflow structure and they are processed in a cluster of distributed processors. Thus, jobs are linear workflows (LWs). Local LWs can run on a part of the processors only, while generic LWs jobs may run on any processor of the whole distributed system. Scheduling techniques based on imprecise computations are employed to the generic LWs. Extensive simulation experiments are carried out to evaluate their performance. The results demonstrate that the partial computation of generic LW jobs contribute beneficially to performance under different scenarios of percentage of local jobs and load conditions. © 2023 ieee.

Modern high-end systems are increasingly becoming heterogeneous, providing users options to use general purpose Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and other accelerators for additional performance. High Performance computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications are often carefully arranged to overlap communications and computation for increased efficiency on such platforms. This has led to efforts to extend popular communication libraries to support GPU awareness and more recently, GPU-initiated operations. In this paper, we present Intel SHMEM, a library that enables users to write programs that are GPU aware, in that API calls support GPU memory, and also support GPU-initiated communication operations by embedding OpenSHMEM style calls within GPU kernels. We also propose thread-collaborative extensions to the OpenSHMEM standard that can enable users to better exploit the strengths of GPUs. Our implementation adapts to choose between direct load/store from GPU and the GPU copy engine based transfer to optimize performance on different configurations. © 2024 ieee.

In the fast-changing world of blockchain tech, keeping cryptographic algorithms secure and efficient is crucial, especially for managing keys in groups. This paper compares three cryptographic algorithms - Shamir's Secret Sharing Scheme, Blakley's Scheme, and the Asmuth-Bloom Scheme - to see how well they work in managing group keys in blockchain systems. We look at how fast they are and how well they resist attacks to understand their strengths and weaknesses in blockchain. Key management is really important for keeping things secure with cryptography, especially in systems like distributed ledgers. We study how long it takes to use Shamir's Secret Sharing, Blakley's Scheme, and the Asmuth-Bloom Scheme in blockchain, showing how efficient and scalable they are, which matters a lot in big distributed systems. We also look at how secure these cryptographic schemes are against different types of attacks, like trying lots of passwords, intercepting messages, working together to attack, and finding vulnerabilities in the system. By focusing on both efficiency and security, we try to get a clear picture of which cryptographic scheme is best for blockchain, especially when managing group keys securely and dynamically. In our research, we found that in terms of speed, Shamir's Secret Sharing Scheme outperforms the Asmuth-Bloom Scheme and Blakley's Scheme, with Shamir being the fastest, followed by Asmuth and then Blakley. However, regarding security, all three schemes demonstrate robustness against various attack vectors. We also discovered that Shamir Secret Sharing Scheme's efficiency could be further enhanced by implementing Newton's interpolation technique for value interpolation. © 2024 ieee.

The article is devoted to fixed-time (FXT) output optimization for multi-agent systems (MASs) by proposing distributed piecewise protocols. Firstly, the FXT tracking of the agent states is ensured by introducing an auxiliary variable for each agent. Then, under the out information of agents and the strong convexity of cost functions, a distributed piecewise algorithm is developed, which indicates that the FXT distributed output optimization is solved by first realizing local optimization for each agent and then achieving global output optimization. In addition, a more relaxed condition for FXT distributed optimization is derived and a more precise estimate for the optimization time is obtained. Finally, the proposed optimization algorithm is further illustrated via numerical results. © 2023 ieee.
