Stress increases the risk of several mental and physical health problems like anxiety, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. Better guidance and interventions towards mitigating the impact of stress can be provided if stress can be monitored continuously. The recent proliferation of wearable devices and their capability in measuring several physiological signals related to stress have created the opportunity to measure stress continuously in the wild. Wearable devices used to measure physiological signals are mostly placed on the wrist and the chest. Though currently chest sensors, with/without wrist sensors, provide better results in detecting stress than using wrist sensors only, chest devices are not as convenient and prevalent as wrist devices, particularly in the free-living context. In this paper, we present a solution to detect stress using wrist sensors that emulate the gold standard chest sensors. Data from wrist sensors are translated into the data from chest sensors, and the translated data is used for stress detection without requiring the users to wear any device on the chest. We evaluated our solution using a public dataset, and results show that our solution detects stress with accuracy comparable to the gold standard chest devices which are impractical for daily use.

The paper's object is to develop a smart home automation system with sustainable renewable energy. The paper presents a conceptualization and implementation of developing a smart home system that uses solar panels to maximize the use of abundant renewable energy. This system is created to minimize the carbon footprint and energy consumption. This will simultaneously be a great solution for the climate issues in the world as well while using renewable energy simultaneously. Integrated renewable energy in this project to build an IoT-based smart automated home system. One of the major features of the system is to integrate the sun tracking method for maximum solar power harnessing. In this SHAS or Smart Home Automation System, lighting, climate, entertainment systems, and appliances are all monitored and controlled by the system. Home security systems such as access control, face recognition, and alarm systems are also be included. The project has features like activating loads using a Bluetooth system. The Arduino UNO board, a Bluetooth module controlled by a remote, and an infrared sensor are used to offer a low-cost and user-friendly remote-controlled home automation system in this work. IoT or Internet of Things technology is used to connect device communication in smart home appliances. In this home automation system technologies are used like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth where several types of electrical devices are used for controlling and monitoring various kinds of appliances of a household. This project offers a low-cost, eco-friendly smart home solution for individuals in underdeveloped nations like Bangladesh. © 2022 ieee.

Hadoop is currently the most popular big data processing architecture, which provides a processing framework for managing and analyzing massive data. Hadoop distributed File System (HDFS) is the core component for storing data in the Hadoop systems. It performs well when storing and managing large-sized files. However, it shows extremely bad performance when dealing with a large number of small files, which is reflected in the consumption of a large amount of memory space of the NameNode node and the low efficiency of accessing small files. Archive file is proposed to solve this problem. It combines small files into larger merged files for storage, and uses index files to record the relevant information of small files in the merged files. However, archive files (e.g., Hadoop Archive, MapFile) all require additional processing and multiple I/O operations to obtain index information before actually accessing the file content, which reduces the efficiency of file access. This paper proposes a novel distributed file storing mechanism called B+ Tree-Based distributed File Storing mechanism (BTDFS), which combines a large number of small files into a merged file, records the index information of the small files in the merged file, and organizes the index information into a B+ tree for storage. Using BTDFS, while reducing the metadata consumption of the NameNode node, improves the access performance of a single small file with additional abilities, which provides convenience for analyzing a large number of small files. Finally, this paper designs corresponding experiments for the proposed BTDFS, and tests and analyzes the memory usage in N ameN ode and the access performance of small files. The experimental results show that the proposed BTDFS can effectively reduce the memory usage of the NameNode, and the efficiency of accessing small files is improved compared with state-of-the-art methods. © 2022 ieee.

As an important category of skyline queries, the skyline groups query has drawn growing interest from the academic communities. For taking the benefit of cost savings, data owners are motivated to outsource the data storage and query processing to the public cloud to offload the massive data management. However, direct outsourcing may raise severe privacy issues. In this paper, we define and study the secure skyline groups query problem, and propose the secure skyline groups query methods. To address this problem, we first propose the Basic Secure Skyline Groups Query (BSSGQ) method to find the skyline groups on encrypted data. In BSSGQ method, candidate groups and their aggregate tuples are generated under encryption. To calculate group dominance relations, we propose a secure group dominance protocol to facilitate the dominance computation between groups. With the dominance relations, the skyline groups w.r.t the query group can be obtained, and finally the query results of the skyline groups can be securely returned without being learnt by the cloud servers. To address the efficiency problem in BSSGQ method, we further propose a Dynamic-programming-based Secure Skyline Groups Query (DSSGQ) method to effectively avoid generating the candidate groups. In DSSGQ method, the encrypted data are equivalently mapped based on the query group as the preprocessing to achieve a dynamic skyline groups query. Then, DSSGQ method dynamically constructs and calculates the skyline sub-groups in ciphertext, and the final skyline groups can be combined with the obtained skyline sub-groups. Thorough analysis shows the security and complexity of the proposed methods, and extensive experimental results on real datasets and synthetic datasets illustrate the performance of our proposed methods. © 2021 ieee.

Microcomputers and medical devices with signal transceivers that operate on a specific radio display constitute the backbone of wireless sensor networks (WS Ns) that monitor environmental conditions (temperature, pressure, light, vibration levels, location). It is widely used in WAN sensor networks because of its flexible design and low setup fees. The u200b touch network allows for the connection of up to 65,000 devices, while the Intelligent sensors on other wireless networks are used to transfer data ports and assign wireless networks. Since the price of wireless solutions has been decreasing, and their functional capabilities have been growing, they are gradually replacing wired ones in telemetry data gathering systems and long- distance detecting communication. A deep learning model was used in this investigation to prevent the sensor nodes from manipulating data. sensor nodes include a lot of parameters and estimations. If these projected data values are altered, network performance will suffer, and the node's lifetime will be reduced. Data security became a priority when the sensor nodes were distributed. This new method is 98.82% more efficient than the previous one. © 2023 ieee.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and smart sensors are the tools towards the fifth agricultural revolution. Remote sensing is thriving in agriculture, broadening the horizons of cultivators and farming practitioners. However, adopting such a technological endeavour in a raw production process is a challenging task for farmers. Operation and maintenance of such systems require specific ICT knowledge. There is also a wide variety of software and hardware equipment to choose from that can greatly impact business costs and system performance according to the kind of cultivation. Due to the lack of guidance regarding the employment of precision agriculture monitoring systems, this paper proposes a detailed decision model regarding the requirements and considerations of deploying remote sensing capabilities on a cultivation. Agricultural businesses are in need of guidance when it comes to the adoption of technological advancements especially in the case when a carefully planned operation can produce a significant amount of profits.

Seizures pose a significant health hazard for over 50 million individuals with epilepsy worldwide, with approximately 56% experiencing uncontrollable seizures according to the CDC. Predicting seizures is challenging even with the availability of various sensors (gyroscopes, pulse rate sensors, heart rate monitors, etc). Electroencephalography (EEG) data can directly measure the activity of the brain and has been the choice of leveraging deep learning (DL) models for seizure prediction. Despite DL models achieving over 95% accuracy on retroactive clinical-grade EEG data, this performance fails to translate in real-world settings where the accuracy goes down to 66% which warrants further investigation. Moreover, consumer-grade wearable EEG headsets, characterized by lower data quality and a varying number of channels across brands, present additional challenges. In this paper, we estimate the robustness of DL models which are trained on clinical-grade EEG data but tested on the type of data expected from consumer-grade wearable EEG headsets. We select the previously published model SPERTL to estimate its robustness when: (1) predicting with data from less leads/channels, (2) predicting when faced with streaming data, (3) evaluating performance on imbalanced data with more interictal segments. Our results are compared against baseline results from the SPERTL model which we have re-configured to operate independently of the number of channels with an average baseline area under the curve (AUC) score of 98.56%. Our results demonstrate that though the model is surprisingly resilient to streaming and noisy data, reducing the number of channels and a higher class imbalance have a more severe degradation. The AUC across all cross-validation sets degrades only by 2% and 3% on average for noisy and streaming data, respectively. However, a performance reduction, on average, is observed by 32% when imbalance is increased with higher percentage of interictal samples, and up to 16

Wireless sensor-Actuator Networks (WSANs) are an important driver for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) as they easily retrofit existing industrial infrastructure. Industrial applications require these networks to provide stable communication with high reliability and guaranteed low latency. A common way is using a central scheduler to plan transmissions and routes so that all packets are delivered before a deadline. However, existing centralized schedulers are only able to achieve high reliability in the absence of interference. This limitation lowers the feasibility of using centralized schedulers in most environments susceptible to interference. This paper addresses the challenge of stable, centrally scheduled communication in low-power wireless networks susceptible to interference. We introduce MASTER, a centralized scheduler and router, for ieee 802.15.4 TSCH (Time-Slotted Channel Hopping). MASTER uses Sliding Windows, a novel transmission strategy, which builds on flow-based retransmissions instead of link-based ones. We show in our experimental evaluation that MASTER with Sliding Windows achieves routing and scheduling stability for over 24 hours with end-to-end reliability of over 99.6%. Moreover, we show that MASTER outperforms Orchestra, a state-of-the-art autonomous scheduler, in terms of latency by a factor of 8 while achieving similar reliability under a slight duty-cycle increase.

Autonomous robots that interact with their environment require a detailed semantic scene model. For this, volumetric semantic maps are frequently used. The scene understanding can further be improved by including object-level information in the map. In this work, we extend a multi-view 3D semantic mapping system consisting of a network of distributed smart edge sensors with object-level information, to enable downstream tasks that need object-level input. Objects are represented in the map via their 3D mesh model or as an object-centric volumetric sub-map that can model arbitrary object geometry when no detailed 3D model is available. We propose a keypoint-based approach to estimate object poses via PnP and refinement via ICP alignment of the 3D object model with the observed point cloud segments. Object instances are tracked to integrate observations over time and to be robust against temporary occlusions. Our method is evaluated on the public Behave dataset where it shows pose estimation accuracy within a few centimeters and in real-world experiments with the sensor network in a challenging lab environment where multiple chairs and a table are tracked through the scene online, in real time even under high occlusions.

Data gathering and critical events detection are two essential functionalities for Wireless sensor Network (WSN). In this paper, we propose double mobile sinks network architecture, where two mobile sink nodes visit the Cluster Heads (CHs) to collect the captured data, which is very energy effective in terms of energy transmission efficiency and reliable compared with the case of having one static sink node. Moreover, the proposed architecture provides a capable scheme for supporting critical and non-critical data, which assures a timely delivery for any critical event to the remote monitoring and decision-making center with minimal interference to the non-critical data. Our proposed architecture shows a superior performance in terms of packets transmission delay, and requires low buffer occupancy for the CHs nodes when compared to related work in the literature. Finally, the paper provides a preliminary hardware design and implementation for the proposed architecture.
