This paper proposes a visualization function for developers in volunteer computing. In recent years, information systems such as e-Learning systems and groupware have been introduced in companies and educational institutions to promote DX, but the introduction and operation of these systems incur a large cost burden. Therefore, we are developing a distributed information system that can be introduced and operated at low cost by utilizing surplus computers (idle computers) in an organization. Idle computers are unstable depending on the operations of their original users and have different performances. In order to use idle computers efficiently, it is necessary to improve the performance of the system and modify it to add new functions, taking into account the differences in behavior and performance of each machine. In this paper, visualization for developers to easily check the behavior and performance of a computer in an idle state is developed, and its usefulness is evaluated through experiments using a real system.

In this paper, the joint problem of agents, e.g., police officers, firefighters, etc., to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) association and optimal partial task offloading is addressed based on the principles of reinforcement learning and contract theory, respectively, in public safety scenarios. A two-layers approach is followed. At the first layer, the agents act as learning automata in order to learn their most beneficial UAV selection to optimize their long-term reward in terms of processing their offloaded data, while respecting their delay constraints and tolerance stemming from their requested computing service and the public safety scenario that they serve. At the second layer, a contract-theoretic model is proposed to determine the agents’ optimal amount of offloaded data to the selected UAV and the UAV’s optimal portion of allocated computing capacity to each agent’s computing tasks, while considering the urgency of the agents’ requested service. A detailed set of numerical and comparative simulation results demonstrates the drawbacks and benefits of the proposed framework under rea-life public safety scenarios.

In industry 4.0 many industrial processes are enhanced by using the information continuously collected through connected sensors. While many use cases have been discussed and simulated, the transfer into real-world deployments and the discussion of associated challenges have been rather *** this field report, we present our experiences on developing and deploying a versatile Wireless sensor Network (WSN) for the monitoring of temperature, particle concentration, CO 2 concentration and other important environmental data. The WSN is accompanied by its backend and testbed infrastructure, which allows the continuous management and monitoring of the deployments. We describe the challenges faced and experiences gained during the deployment of 70 nodes at five different industrial scenarios and recap the lessons we learned.

Though the primary method for evaluating multiple UAV path planning algorithms is simulation, there is no lightweight open-source software built to compare algorithms. As a result, most researchers develop their own simulation environments. The presence of many simulation environments makes evaluation of separately developed algorithms difficult. To introduce standardization into the multiple UAV path planning space, we have created an easy-to-use simulator for both development and evaluation of path planning algorithms. Our simulator focuses on the problem of small object detection using multiple UAVs. Its careful object-oriented design allows users unlimited flexibility in developing planning algorithms. UavSim is freely available on GitHub (https://***/rmaksymiuk/UavSim).

We consider large scale Peer-to-Peer sensor Networks, which try to calculate and distribute the mean value of all sensor inputs. For this we design, simulate and evaluate distributed approximation algorithms which reduce the number of messages. The main difference of these algorithms is the underlying communication protocol which all use the random call model, where in discrete round model each node can call a random sensor node with uniform *** amount of data exchanged between sensor nodes and used in the calculation process affects the accuracy of the aggregation results leading to a trade-off situation. The key idea of our algorithms is to limit the sample size using the Finite Population Correction (FPC) method and collect the data using a distribution aggregation using Push-Pull Sampling, Pull Sampling, and Push Sampling communication protocols. It turns out that all methods show exponential improvement of Mean Squared Error (MSE) with the number of messages and rounds.

Devices with sensors are rapidly becoming indispensable. As the technology behind sensors has improved, a wide variety of sensor-based automated systems have emerged. By relaying data from sensors to actuators, these systems can perform actions automatically. Researchers face difficulties in obtaining long-lasting efficacy from sensor nodes into wireless sensor networks (WSNs) because of inadequate resources, energy constraints, and interference. For WSNs to continue operating for as long as possible, it is essential that their limited supply of energy be conserved. technique to organize groups of sensor nodes into clusters of varying sizes, each of which will then send its data on to the central station. First, the CEOMS algorithm build energy density task of the network nodes, & using the energy density function, it designates the sensor nodes having maximum left-over energy like cluster heads.

Industrial cyber-physical systems (ICPS) refer to an emerging generation of intelligent systems, where distributed data acquisition is of great importance and is influenced by data transmission. In the improvement of the overall performance of sensing accuracy and energy efficiency, sensing and transmission are tightly coupled. Due to the unknown transmission channel states in the harsh industrial field environment, intelligently performing sensor scheduling for distributed sensing is challenging. In this paper, edge computing technology is utilized to enhance the level of intelligence at the edge side and deploy advanced scheduling algorithms. We propose a learning-based distributed edge sensing-transmission co-design (LEST) algorithm under the coordination of the sensors and the edge computing unit (ECU). Deep reinforcement learning is applied to perform real-time sensor scheduling under unknown channel states. The conditions for the existence of feasible scheduling policies are analyzed. The proposed algorithm is applied to estimate the slab temperature in the hot rolling process, which is a typical ICPS. The simulation results demonstrate that the overall performance of LEST is better than other suboptimal algorithms.

Edge computing has become a very popular service that enables mobile devices to run complex tasks with the help of network-based computing resources. However, edge clouds are often resource-constrained, which makes resource allocation a challenging issue. We focus on a distributed resource allocation method in which servers operate independently and do not communicate with each other, but interact with clients (tasks) to make allocation decisions. This provides robustness and does not require service providers to share information about their configurations or workloads. We propose a two-round bidding approach of assigning tasks to edge cloud servers, while taking into account various processing requirements and server constraints. We consider cases in which all jobs have equal utility, cases where jobs have different utilities but users do not disclose these utilities to servers, and cases where users disclose the utility of their jobs to servers. We evaluate the performance using extensive realistic simulations. Results show that our approach is very close to an optimal assignment, with discrepancy not exceeding 5%.
