This paper deals with the control of truck platoons traveling in freeways. In order to improve their travel performance, in terms of travelling times and comfort and to guarantee safety, a hierarchical control scheme is proposed for each platoon. At the high level, the reference speed is computed according to a PI-based control rule with the main aim of reducing the time spent by the platoon in the congested area. This reference speed is communicated to the low control level which implements a Linear Quadratic Tracking policy and determines the optimal speed for each truck in the platoon. The application of these hierarchical controllers to a case study shows the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

The prototype model described in the paper discusses the detection and location of the fault in the distribution power system and monitors different parameters using sensors. It consists of two parallel sections of lines connected through the resistive load. The microcontrollerbased concept was used to detect faults in each section of the line. A model was developed which will automatically monitor the parameters such as current, voltage, power, and power factor with the help of sensors and generate alerts and take intelligent decisions to detect the faults in the lines.

The recent breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence (AI) largely relies on the advance of hardware performance. However, energy and security have been primary concerns in the design and management of modern computingsystems and data centers. The emerging embedded Non-Volatile Memories (eNVMs) have drawn great attention to various applications to improve both computing speed and security with much lower power consumption. In this paper, we review and discuss several application cases of the ill-memory computing techniques, including Deep Neural Network (DNN) accelerators and neuromorphic computing circuits. Moreover, we also explore the in-memory computing techniques for the security enhancement, especially for machine learning attack. The emerging security issues raised by eNVMs and possible solutions are also discussed.

This document presents results to identification of technological process (TP) of beneficiation of iron ore on bases of models NNARX (Neural Network based AutoRegressive eXogenous signal), NNARXMAX (Neural Network based AutoRegressive, Moving Average, eXogenous signal), NNOE (Neural Network Output Error). Computer modeling has been carried out with application of Neuro Solution software package. As internal modeling structure bases on the basis of multilayered perceptron (MLP) and networks of the radial basis functions (RBF) network have been analyzed The sample of parameters of the Southern mining complex (Krivoy Rog city, Ukraine) has been used for training and verification. We propose a simple imitation learning procedure for learning locomotion controllers that can walk over very challenging terrains. We use trajectory optimization (TO) to produce a large dataset of trajectories over procedurally generated terrains and use Reinforcement Learning (RL) to imitate these trajectories. We demonstrate with a realistic model of the ANYmal robot that the learned controllers transfer to unseen terrains and provide an effective initialization for finetuning on challenging terrains that require exteroception and precise foot placements. Our setup combines TO and RL in a simple fashion that overcomes the computational limitations and need for a robust tracking controller of the former and the exploration and reward-tuning difficulties of the latter.

The recent trend towards low reduction gearing in robotic actuation has revitalised the need for high-performance gearing concepts. In this work we propose compact lowreduction cycloidal gearing, that is 3D-printable and combined with off-the-shelf components. This approach presents an enormous potential for high performance-to-cost implementations. After discussing parameter selection and design considerations, we present a prototype that is combined with a low-cost brushless motor to demonstrate its potential. Extensive experimental results demonstrate high performance, including >40Nm torque, low friction and play, and high impact robustness. The results show that the proposed approach can yield viable gearbox designs.
