Mood Conductor is a system that allows the audience to interact with stage performers to create directed improvisations. The term "conductor" is used metaphorically. Rather than directing a musical performance by way of visible gestures, spectators act as conductors by communicating emotional intentions to the performers through our web-based smartphone-friendly Mood Conductor app. Performers receive the audience's directions via a visual feedback system operating in real-time. Emotions are represented by coloured blobs in a two-dimensional space (vertical dimension: arousal or excitation;horizontal dimension: valence or pleasantness). The size of the "emotion blobs" indicates the number of spectators that have selected the corresponding emotions at a given time.

The rapid development in wireless communication and mobile computing brings the booming of intelligent Location-Based Services (LBS), which can actively push location-dependent information to mobile users according to their predefined interests. The successful development and deployment of push-based LBS applications rely heavily on the existence of a spatial publish/subscribe middleware that handles spatial relationship. However, in a traditional publish/subscribe middleware;the current location of a mobile user is the unique criteria to determine whether to notify them. Statistics shows that the accuracy of notification is not satisfied. This paper presents a novel user behavior prediction model (UBPM) for the pubtish/subscribe system. UBPM is a complementary component of existing publish/subscribe system which is utilized to predict the behavior of a mobile user. This model takes some foregone and real-time user information into consideration that is a prerequisite to predict the future behavior of mobile users. Six important user context-aware information entries which have crucial effects on prediction result are discussed in detail. Furthermore, Bayesian Network (BN) and inference in the field of artificial intelligence is introduced to make the prediction more accurate.

We have been researching and development of an intelligent Lighting System to provide desired illminance to a desire place. We have implemented the intelligent Lighting System in actual office spaces for verifying its utility. The intelligent Lighting System judge that illuminance is unnecessary in the place, when the worker has left his seat. In the intelligent lighting systems we have implemented in actual offices, every worker ask to change their seating status through a user interface on the web. However, the seating information was not properly managed;the workers who are away from the office are often regarded as seated, resulting in excessive and unnecessary consumption of electricity for lighting. Therefore we use a seating sensor that can judge to automatically detect worker's seating statuses of a person by sensing the pressure. In this research, an intelligent Lighting System with a seat management mechanism to automatically detect worker's seating statuses was built using a seating sensor. Verification testing was implemented in actual offices, to determine how much savings can be achieved in the consumption of electricity for lighting.

This paper propose an intelligent strategy called the improved hybrid particle swarm algorithm (IHPSA) to repair coverage hole. In hybrid sensor network, this scheme considers the displacement of mobile sensors, energy consumption and energy balancing together, effectively schedules the redundant mobile sensors to repair coverage holes by moving to appropriate locations, then improves the event detection rate. Simulation result shows that this moving algorithm brings better coverage function and higher capacity of event detection.

We present a Swarm Logic based approach to vehicular localization and inter-vehicular communication using a distributed computing environment. Our work is towards the development of an application for the DSRC framework (Dedicated Short Range Communication for Inter-Vehicular Communication) by US Department of Traffic and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and European Commission- funded Project SAVE-U (Sensors and System Architecture for Vulnerable road Users Protection) and is a step towards intelligent Transportation systems such as Autonomous Unmanned Ground and Aerial Vehicular systems. The application depends on recursively obtained sensor readings in a feedback loop mode for processing and deploying a corrective action based on Model Predictive approach that exploits non-linear functions of the state and finds control inputs such as state of system, position, acceleration, peer movement to recursively estitnate and improve the quality of resulting estimation for collision avoidance and target localization. The problem addresses is not only restricted to localization of target but to control a formation of robots in a cluttered indeterminist environment.

Research on driver sleepiness, often aimed towards devising driver sleepiness detection systems, involves the computation of driver sleepiness indicators. Two examples of such, which are often studied in the literature, are the standard deviation of the vehicle's lateral position and the driver's averaged blink duration. How good such measures actually indicate driver sleepiness may depend on the length of the time series from which the indicators are computed. However, the question of optimal interval length when studying driver sleepiness indicators seems to be largely ignored in the literature. Instead, the specific interval length used in most papers appears rather arbitrarily chosen, or much influenced by the design of the study. Interval lengths of five minutes are often used, but much shorter intervals (e. g. 60 s, 30 s or even shorter) as well as longer intervals (e. g. 10 or 30 minutes) have been used in some studies. The present work aims to improve the situation by analyzing the performance of six indicators of driver sleepiness as a function of interval length. The findings have implications on driver sleepiness research, especially research aimed at devising a system for driver sleepiness detection. The results indicate that interval lengths of 60 s or more generally give better results than shorter intervals (10 - 30 s) when computing driver sleepiness indicators, but also that the difference between 60 s and even longer intervals (120 - 900 s) seems small.

In this paper, we propose an approach for the design of fault-tolerant controllers for automated guided vehicle systems (AGVs) that are modeled by Petri nets. In particular, we consider multiple faults detection and identification in Petri nets that have state machine structures (i.e., every transition in the net has only one input place and one output place). We develop an approximation algorithm to design the fault-tolerant Petri net controller so as to minimize the sum of the arc weights in the (input and output) incident matrices of the redundant controller. A design example for an AGV system is also provided to illustrate our approach.

The proposed method is based on reconstruction of surface points of multisensor conversion characteristic by modular neural network. Algorithm of unsupervised competitive learning is used to speed learning and convergence of training and reduce the degree of noise disturbance. We study consistency and completeness of fuzzy control rules and we also design a interactive utility system for fuzzy controller in order to collect sample data and examine the proposed method in computer. The fuzzy controller formed by auto-generated rule base has been applied to time-delay system in simulation experiments. The step response shows that the method of generating rule base is correct.
