The article presents an approach to pollution data for EU countries correlated to the Summary Innovation Index (SII). The analysis is based on data from 2015 to 2020. It compares pollution with health problems and deaths, and innovation. As it will be shown, it is a significant issue for EU countries. The approach is connected with $CO_{2}$ emission and its influence on health and people's attitudes toward pollution and climate change.

In this paper, we address the transmission of local data on the uplink of wireless systems aided by reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) arrays using the concept of spatial modulation (SM), and we introduce new activation pattern designs for RIS-SM. First, we describe a simple design that transmits only one bit of local data per user symbol period, but achieves the maximum possible value of the minimum distance, which dictates asymptotic performance. Then, 3 new designs are introduced for increasing the local data rate while preserving the minimum distance. Two of these designs are based on 4-dimensional (4-D) signaling, and both offer higher data rates while preserving the minimum distance of the benchmark pattern design. Using 16-element and 64-element RIS arrays, the bit error rate performance of the proposed designs was confirmed by computer simulations. © 2024 ieee.

For the optimization and upgrading of intelligent measurement and control equipment, it is particularly important to conduct a comprehensive assessment of its intelligence level. A comprehensive assessment method based on kinetic entropy is proposed for the intelligent level of measurement and control equipment, and a corresponding assessment model framework is constructed. First, the key factors affecting the intelligence level of measurement and control equipment are analyzed, and the measurement index system of the intelligence level of measurement and control equipment is established. Subsequently, a dynamics model is constructed to deeply describe the operation process of the measurement and control equipment by combining the physical entity characteristics, data information and environmental parameters of the equipment. On this basis, targeted test cases are designed to calculate the specific values of the evaluation indicators, and the weights of the indicators are determined with the help of information entropy theory. Through the comprehensive analysis of the weights of the indicators, this paper realizes the quantitative assessment of the intelligence level of the measurement and control equipment, and provides a solid theoretical basis for the subsequent optimization and upgrading of the equipment. © 2024 ieee.

The rationality and benefits of software model-driven development (MDD) continue to be the subject of studies and debates, both scholarly and among practitioners. This study argues the usefulness of applying a UML profile as an MDD artefact. The developed UML profile intends to model the Web service selection process by non-functional properties with the Logic Scoring of Preference (LSP) method. The primary profile's stereotypes determine the concepts of Web service quality criterion and LSP aggre-gators. The models created using the proposed profile were validated by the MagicDraw tool, and their effectiveness was confirmed when the actual model-driven development of the software application.

Intrusion Detection systems (IDSes) are key defense mechanisms for securing smart grids against cyberattacks. They require realistic datasets to develop accurate models for detecting network anomalies. However, acquiring realistic datasets is challenging due to the need for expert knowledge to accurately label attack data, the sensitive nature of the information, and safety issues related to attacking the actual power systems. Consequently, there is a lack of high-fidelity datasets for testing and validating the efficacy of IDSes. While synthetic datasets provide a good workaround, they are often unrealistic and fail to capture the physical dynamics of power systems under cyberattacks. To address this gap, we leverage the Electric Power and intelligent Control (EPIC) testbed, a hardware-based smart grid security testbed, to simulate false data injection attacks (FDIA) and time delay attacks (TDA) on two critical power grid operations, namely generator synchronization and reverse power prevention. Our goal is to generate representative datasets that accurately model those operations under normal and attack conditions. By making these datasets publicly available, we enable the research community to develop more effective IDS solutions to enhance the security of smart grids.

This research extends previous studies on the effects of climate change on agricultural yield predictions by integrating advanced Machine learning (ML) methods with real time environmental sensing data. It builds on the basic usage of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Random Forest (RF) methods by employing real time data streams from IoT based field sensors that measure soil moisture, nutrient levels and pest activity. The aim is to enhance the prediction model's adaption to changing climatic circumstances, therefore increasing their utility in agricultural management. This study proposes a dynamic adaptation feature that uses real time data to make timely adjustments to crop management predictions. Moreover, the integration of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with LSTM is being investigated to increase the spatial and temporal accuracy of these predictions. By integrating conventional climatic data with detailed micro environmental elements from IoT sensors, this method obtains a aspects which affects the crop growth. This study also focuses on developing a userfriendly interface that allows farmers to easily access predictive developments and recommendations, allowing for more informed decision making. This technique is predicted to make substantial advances in precision agriculture, giving more effective methods for regulating agricultural productivity in dynamic climatic variability. These results may improve food security and sustainability by optimizing resource utilization and reducing the environmental impact of farming operations. © 2024 ieee.

Smart cities and urban planning have emerged as catalysts for national development, equipping society with the ability to make informed decisions promptly. This paper presents a comprehensive system for smart cities and urban planning, driven by IoT-generated Big data analysis. The proposed architecture comprises four tiers, encompassing data collection, aggregation, communication, processing, and interpretation, with Hadoop technologies and Spark for real-time processing. In recent years, fog computing has extended cloud services to the network edge, lowering network latency and congestion and overcoming cloud computing restrictions. Many hurdles, however, must be overcome before the benefits of the fog-IoT paradigm for low-latency applications can be completely realized. The most challenging difficulty in IoT applications is developing efficient resource management strategies that maximize throughput while minimizing delay. IoT and fog computing, rather than simply utilizing cloud computing technology, have brought intriguing new data management solutions. Fog computing makes real-time analytics applications conceivable. After combining fog computing technologies with Internet of Things (IoT) applications, the system can reply in milliseconds. Existing fog resource managers focus on a subset of fog resource management parameters such as system response time, network bandwidth, energy consumption, and latency. No Fog resource management takes multiple factors into account at the same time for decision-making, which will become increasingly crucial in intelligent homes. Gateway-based Fog computing pioneered the introduction of the shortest job (SJFGFC) to address these difficulties. The technique is validated in an IoT-based imaginative house automation scenario before being evaluated in a small-scale bright home experiment using the iFogSim toolbox and empirical models. © 2024 ieee.

For electrical equipment to function properly, semiconductor wafer quality and dependability are essential. Even though they are helpful, traditional fault detection techniques frequently miss small flaws that could cause serious product failures. In order to improve detection accuracy, this research introduces an innovative fault detection system that combines machine learning approaches with Multisensor data fusion. We create an extensive dataset for model training by using advanced data preprocessing and feature extraction techniques, as well as sensors like temperature, vibration, and audio sensors. Support vector machines (SVM), convolutional neural networks (CNN), and long short-term memory networks (LSTM) are examples of machine learning models that are put into practice and assessed. Our methodology achieves over 95% accuracy for some problem types, and experimental findings show significant increases in fault detection accuracy over conventional methods. This study demonstrates how sensor data and machine learning may be combined to enhance quality control in the semiconductor manufacturing process, which will ultimately result in higher productivity and lower costs.
