In this paper, a road crack acquisition and analysis system based on mobile robot and deep learning is proposed. First, a virtual reality technology-based omnidirectional mobile robot is developed to remotely collect detailed road crack images. Next, an image dataset including different kinds of crack images collected by the mobile robot is constructed and utilized for training and testing a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) model. Following this, the trained model is used to identify and segment the crack images acquired from the robot, and to facilitate the inspector to know the road surface condition, crack information (crack length, crack width, and crack area) is obtained using an image processing method. Finally, the proposed system and method are applied to a campus road, which realizes the accurate acquisition and analysis of road crack information, thus demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system and method. © 2021 ieee.

In the last 5-10 years, there have been several attempts at the creation of a musical database that can be queried acoustically. The main problem hindering such efforts so far has been scalability, with limits of the frequently used three-character representation for melodic contour becoming apparent even at relatively small database sizes. Extending the contour representation to 24 semitone resolution would go a long way towards solving such problems, but applying current string matching methods to a 24 character alphabet would prove difficult at best, and human errors would be far more prevalent. Here we show that the vast majority of errors at this resolution, although more numerous, are quite predictable using current methods of probabilisic modeling. This is evidence which we hope opens the door to more intelligent forms of note matching.

Au intelligent robot platform for autonomous systems with vision capabilities has been developed by the University of Applied Sciences Brandenburg in cooperation with SME's. The system will be suitable as a research and education platform for universities, a basis for industrial applications and for private developers of robots. This paper presents an architecture overview and application details of the RCUBE system. RCUBE will be available in 2 modular versions: 1. a cost-effective platform for reactive robots and private developers 2. a performant platform for intelligent robots with image processing capabilities suitable for research, development and education in the field of service robotics (Fig.1). The system consists of 3 ready-to-program hardware modules with a basic software layer. They can be combined in different configurations. The modularity provides the flexibility to configure an RCUBE system for different application areas, but also single modules can be used in applications such as autonomous intelligent cameras or planning robots (e.g. lawnmower, vacuum cleaner). A key feature is the capability to autonomous image processing combined with sensors and actors, small size and low power consumption. RCUBE opens the way to small independent seeing robots. © 2003 ieee.

intelligent signal processing provides a wealth of technologies, such as fuzzy logic, neural network, evolutionary computation that can be applied to the design and operation of communications systems. In this article, we present applications of fuzzy logic to problems in mobility management of heterogeneous wireless communication network, which including location management and handover management. In both cases, multiple criteria should be considered to implement multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) because of the heterogeneity of the different system entities (the user, the terminal, the services and the network). Fuzzy based MCDM method is presented for access network selection and the vertical handover decision.

When we use a tactile sensor, sensing mechanism and restoration of texture from electric sensing signals are important issues. The objectives of this research are to design a new texture sensing system and to develop a new signal processing algorithm which can restore various texture. The new texture sensing system is designed to get texture with high resolution and wide velocity range, which uses a PVDF sensor and has fixing components for several types of objects in precise condition. Next, a new signal processing algorithm is developed to restore texture. In the previous researches, forward model is needed and then it is inverted by using some regularized inversion formula in frequency domain, where there exist problems such as amplification of noise due to ill-posedness, modeling uncertainty due to orientation and position of PVDF films and silicon rubber, and difficulty to add nonlinear terms into model in frequency domain. While, in this paper, we model directly the relation containing transient-state from measured signals to texture by using model structure of multi-input multi-output nonlinear autoregressive moving average and a time domain least squares estimation. The direct modeling can be done by the use of F/T sensor which is not used in the previous researches. Finally the several texture is experimentally reconstructed from sensing signals using the developed signal processing algorithm.

Unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) path-tracking has been an important topic in mechatronics real-time applications. This paper describes and compares the implementation and performance of path-tracking unmanned ground vehicle using a field programmable analog array (FPAA) and conventional digital microcontroller. The FPAA AN10E40 is a general-purpose, digitally reconfigurable analog signal-processing chip. Its current commercial applications center on signal conditioning and base-band analog signal processing and rapid prototyping. This paper will show that the AN10E40 can also readily implement a control system for a path-tracldng UGV. Using PI control for the path tracking, the FPAA controlled UGV made about 38% fewer tracking error with 22% faster traveling speed than the digital microcontroller (MC68HC11) controlled UGV due to the fast processing time of the FPAA. The results Indicate the great potential of using FPAA for real-time control in mechatronics systems. © 2005 ieee.

In the presence of sensor gain and phase uncertainties for sensor array, the problem of High-resolution estimation of DOA-Doppler frequency for multiple targets signals is addressed. Making use of rotational invariance technique and collecting data of targets signals at two known carrier frequencies, the proposed method in this paper can estimate DOA-Doppler frequency of multiple targets accurately. Simultaneously, sensor gain and phase factors can be estimated precisely, then the manifold of sensor array can be calibrated in the following step. Simulation and practical example results illustrate that this method has superior Performance. © 2003 ieee.

Pipeline leak-sealing under the high pressure and temperature condition is the way to repair a pipeline while the equipment is in continuous work in a power plant or chemical plant. At present, most of this work is carried out by operators with carrying heavy pipeline repairing tools. However, the medium transported by the pipeline is high temperature and high pressure, even acidic or corrosive, which is dangerous to the operators. In order to solve this issue, a pipeline leak-sealing robot is designed to replace the operators to perform pipeline leak-sealing tasks. Furthermore, we design and develop a caulking actuator for the pipeline leak-sealing task and applied a deep learning method to locate the leak points on the pipeline. The experimental results demonstrate that the caulking actuator achieves good performance to repair pipeline leaks, and the accuracy of the method for locating pipeline leaks meets the demand for leak location. © 2021 ieee.
