Joint behaviors widely existing in intelligent systems are important to investigate the cooperation among intelligent agents. In this paper, we put forward a comprehensive and novel model of joint behaviors in support of analysis and design of intelligent systems. The model includes two kinds of joint behaviors, their formal semantics are defined, and important properties are discussed, specified and proved.

Classification and recognition of one and multidimensional signals is one of the important tasks in emerging technologies, particularly communication systems. In this contribution, novel digital signal processing techniques are employed to achieve this task. Classification decision tree algorithms have been used recently in pattern recognition problems. In this paper, we are proposing a self-designing system, using the classification tree algorithms, capable of recognizing a large number of signals. Preprocessing techniques are used to make the recognition process more effective. A combination of the original as well as the preprocessed signals is projected into different transform domains. A large number of criteria, that characterize the signals, can be developed in these domains. At each node of the classification tree, an appropriately selected less-complex and more noise-immune criterion is optimized and employed by the vector quantization (VQ) design techniques to divide the signals, presented at that node in that stage, into two approximately equal groups. ne use of VQ leads to high classification accuracy even with noisy data. At the terminal node of the tree, each signal is represented by a unique composite binary word index. Experimental results verify the excellent classification accuracy of this system even for noisy or corrupted data.

Rapid reconfiguration is an important capability of flexible production system supporting personalized customization. When the product requirement change and the existing capacity configuration of the production system cannot meet the new requirement, the production system needs to be reconfigured. Aiming at automating the control logic planning process, this paper propose a new method based on state space and semantic web. Unified modelling concepts and relations between product, equipment and production system are built in an ontological model and different types of semantic queries are defined to process the ontology instance which will be leveraged by the process to construct the state space model. In addition, an linear programming method is used to drive the final control logic inside the generated space model. © 2022 ieee.

In recent years, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have achieved excellent performance in pavement crack segmentation tasks. However, CNNs usually need high computational cost and large storage. As a result, CNN slimming is important for embedded systems with limited resources. Inspired by the channel attention techniques in CNNs, we propose an effective method to slim CNNs based on attention mechanism. The proposed method first removes the unimportant filters and their connecting feature maps according to their attention scales. The retraining process is then performed on the slimmed model to regain performance. The proposed pruning method is easily embedded in common convolutional layers without any dedicated software libraries. Comprehensive experiments show that the proposed method can prune over 40% parameters of CNNs applied on pavement crack segmentation tasks while the deterioration in performance is slight compared with the original UNet architecture. © 2021 ieee.

A/D converters used in instrumentation and measurements often require high absolute accuracy, including high linearity and negligible DC offset. The incremental (or integrating) converter provides a solution for such measurement applications, as it has all the advantages of the ΔΣ (Delta-Sigma) converter, yet is capable of offset-free and accurate conversion. In this conference paper, theoretical and practical aspects of higher-order incremental converters are discussed. Operating principles, topologies and specialized digital filter design methods are addressed. The theoretical results are verified by showing design examples and simulation results. ©2003 ieee.

Reconstructive signal processing algorithms encompass a broad spectrum of computational methods. Fortunately, most of the methods fall into the classes of the matrix algebraic calculations, convolution, or transform type algorithms. These algorithms possess common properties such as regularity, locality and recursiveness. Considering such general class of reconstructive signal processing (SP) techniques, in this paper we propose a new Hardware/Software (HW/SW) co-design paradigm for the implementation of reconstructive SP algorithms via efficient systolic arrays integrated as digital SP coprocessors units. In particular, the selected matrix-matrix and matrix-vector multiplication algorithms are implemented in a systolic computing fashion that meets the real time SP system requirements when employing the developed Hardware/Software Co-Design method oriented at the use of a Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) XC4VSX35-10ff668. The classification of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals is an important issue in the ongoing research of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. One such BCI uses slow cortical potential measures to infer user intent from the original brain activity. In the paper seven features based on the standard low-level signal properties are evaluated in their ability to classify brain activities, and thus make up for the scarcity of signal features for the current EEG signal categorization. In addition, a paradigm is proposed to select effective low-level features for EEG signal classification. Combining the features selected by the paradigm with the DC value of slow cortical potentials for categorization based on a Bayesian classifier, we obtained significant improvement on classification accuracy for data set Ia of BCI competition 2003, which is a typical representative of one kind of BCI data. © 2005 ieee.

This paper proposes an idea of optimizing battery management system using fuzzy logic for a smart grid system. The involvement of a fuzzy logic controller makes the existing control mechanisms for the battery management system more intelligent hence allowing the system to prioritize between the loads and multiple batteries in the battery storage system (BSS) which enables the utilization of the harnessed solar energy with greater service continuity. This design involves a much more effective algorithm of a load and battery management system using fuzzy sets which allows to optimize solar power utilization and maintaining smooth battery health conditions. Finally, a comparative study is illustrated showing the differences between a system working with a greater number of membership functions (64 rules) and the one working with only two membership functions (8 rules). © 2021 ieee.
