Although the manipulating of the unmanned aerial manipulator (UAM) has been widely studied, visionbased UAM approaching, which is crucial to the subsequent manipulating, generally lacks effective design. The key to the visual UAM approaching lies in object tracking, while current UAM tracking typically relies on costly model-based methods. Besides, UAM approaching often confronts more severe object scale variation issues, which makes it inappropriate to directly employ state-of-the-art model-free Siamesebased methods from the object tracking field. To address the above problems, this work proposes a novel Siamese network with pairwise scale-channel attention (SiamSA) for visionbased UAM approaching. Specifically, SiamSA consists of a pairwise scale-channel attention network (PSAN) and a scaleaware anchor proposal network (SA-APN). PSAN acquires valuable scale information for feature processing, while SAAPN mainly attaches scale awareness to anchor proposing. Moreover, a new tracking benchmark for UAM approaching, namely UAMT100, is recorded with 35K frames on a flying UAM platform for evaluation. Exhaustive experiments on the benchmarks and real-world tests validate the efficiency and practicality of SiamSA with a promising speed. In the modern world, extinguishers must be installed in every building. However, when a fire breaks out, there is uncertainty and confusion on whether to evacuate the area or activate the extinguisher and put out the flames. Early detection of fire is necessary to prevent the further loss of life and property. The existing systems for detecting and extinguishing a fire are the smoke sensor and sprinkler systems, which detect fire from smoke and are programmed to activate when the temperature reaches a predetermined threshold. Overall, with this type of framework, there are several disadvantages such as bogus caution, space inclusion, signal transmission, and alarm postponement. In this paper, upon conducting an extensive comparative analysis on the existing literature, a model for fire detection and extinguishing using image processing and machine learning is proposed. This technology can be used to monitor high-risk zones where there is always the possibility of a fire. The objective of this work is to provide a reliable, secure, and shrewd framework to lessen constraints and deficiencies like false alarms, which cause fear among people with the use of various advances, as well as to make the area safe from the perilous fire. © 2023 ieee.

In this paper, we illustrate a method to stabilize the position estimation of human skeleton using mmWave radar. In our previous study, an optimized CNN architecture was used to extract the positions of human skeleton accurately. However, the position estimation of the joints vibrates over time. In the field of digital signal processing, filters are used to remove unwanted parts of signal and widely applied in noise reduction, radar, audio and video processing, etc. In this paper, three types of filters i.e. Elliptic, Savitzky-Golay, and Whittaker-Eilers are discussed and applied to both positions and angles of the human skeleton. This paper further presents a humanoid robotics dynamic model, specifically forward kinematics, to recalculate joint positions with improved stability. We define the root joint, a world coordinate system, and "T" pose, to get the subsequent joints' rotation matrix using kinematics chain of the skeleton, then compute the Euler angles. After the filtering, we compare the effect of different filters using a method of Standard Deviation (SD) of the angle slope. In addition, we analyze the change of localization accuracy after recalculating the positions using forward kinematics based on the current angle, root position, and bone length information. The data collection and experimental evaluation have shown a motion stability improvement of 54.05% compared to the CNN predicted value.

This article focuses on the joint channel estimation and data detection (JCEDD) for hybrid reconfigurable intelligent surface (HRIS) aided millimeter wave OTFS systems. Firstly, a new transmission structure is designed. Within the pilot durations of the designed structure, partial HRIS elements are alternatively activated. The time domain channel model is then exhibited. Secondly, the received signal model for both the HRIS and the base station are studied. Thirdly, by utilizing channel parameters acquired at the HRIS, an HRIS beamforming design strategy is proposed. For the OTFS transmission, we propose a JCEDD scheme over delay-Doppler domain. In this scheme, message passing and expectation-maximization algorithm are iteratively executed to simultaneously acquire the channel and the unknown data symbols. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of our proposed JCEDD scheme.

Manual assembly workers face increasing complexity in their work. Human-centered assistance systems could help, but object recognition as an enabling technology hinders a sophisticated human-centered design of these systems. At the same time, activity recognition based on hand poses suffers from poor pose estimation in complex usage scenarios, such as wearing gloves. This paper presents a self-supervised pipeline for adapting hand pose estimation to specific use cases with minimal human interaction. This enables cheap and robust hand pose-based activity recognition. The pipeline consists of a general machine learning model for hand pose estimation trained on a generalized dataset, spatial and temporal filtering to account for anatomical constraints of the hand, and a retraining step to improve the model. Different parameter combinations are evaluated on a publicly available and annotated dataset. The best parameter and model combination is then applied to unlabeled videos from a manual assembly scenario. The effectiveness of the pipeline is demonstrated by training an activity recognition as a downstream task in the manual assembly scenario. © 2023 ieee.

A novel transfer learning-based classification method for steel structure painting defects recognition is designed, which is used to solve the problem of identifying painting defects in balance beams of port machinery. This paper proposes an AlexNet model based on transfer learning. Firstly, the weight of the original pre-training model is fine-tuned, and then the last full connection layer (FCL) in the AlexNet model is replaced. Finally, the target image data set is taken as the new input, and the weight of the model is fine-tuned through the back propagation mode, so as to realize the model migration. The experimental results show that the success rate of classification with and without defects can reach more than 93%;the success rate of point, line and surface defect classification reaches more than 88%;the accuracy rate for orange peel test reaches more than 91%. It can meet the requirements of defect detection and classification. © 2023 ieee.

It is known that in the process of operation the materials of aircraft construction are exposed to significant mechanical loads and temperature changes (fluctuations) for a very short period of time. All this leads to various defects and damages to aircraft assemblies and units which need to be inspected for the safe operation of the aircraft, their assemblies, and units. In some cases, the implementation of inspection or diagnostic is accompanied by technical difficulties caused by the large size of-aircraft assemblies or units and limited access to their local places. In such conditions, it becomes especially important to provide the possibility of diagnostics in hard-to-reach places of the *** problem can be solved by applying wireless technologies to transmit signals from the probes to the data processing units. This allows separating the probes unit and the analysis and decision-making unit in space, and simplifies the practical implementation of robotics scanning the surfaces of large assemblies and elements in hard-to-reach *** article describes the developed intelligent wireless system for eddy current inspection of aircraft structural materials. A technique for processing and visualization information is proposed that can be used in inspection systems and intelligent decision-making when monitoring the state of large objects. The experimental results of scanning an object are presented as a distribution of the informative parameters values of the probing signal (amplitude, frequency and decrement) over the coordinates of the object. © 2022 ieee.

The utilization of impedance control is capable of achieving excellent force tracking performance. However, the balance between stability and flexibility is seldom considered in current methods. To address this issue, a novel adaptive variable impedance controller for contact force tracking is proposed in this study. Lyapunov theory is applied to develop an adaptive adjustment law of damping parameter in impedance control to enhance the robot's adaptability to uncertain environment and dynamic desired force. Additionally, a force compensator is designed based on direct adaptive control to expedite the response of force tracking. What sets this proposed method apart is that it does not require an accurate understanding of environmental parameters. Instead, it dynamically modifies the impedance parameters based on the force error to guarantee the stability and coordination of the system. Simulation results indicate that the proposed controller improves the flexibility and robustness of the force tracking capability of the robot system when compared to existing variable impedance control methods and effectively diminishes force overshoot. © 2023 ieee.

Stereo image sand removal is crucial to improve the perceptual quality for autonomous driving perception. Existing methods often fall short in accurately estimating the uncertainty inherent in degraded images, leading to suboptimal outcomes. To address this, we introduce a novel framework named Decoupling While Coupling(DWC). DWC pioneers the integration of inter-view uncertainty estimation, cross-view uncertainty-aware interaction and block-wise uncertainty representation for superior stereo image sand removal. For cross-view information interaction, we propose an Uncertainty-aware Cross-view Attentive Interaction module(UCAI) to cope with the lack of uncertainty estimation ability in the existing cross-view information interaction mechanism. For the uncertainty perception and information interaction within the inter-view, we propose a Distribution Modeling Coupling Block(DMCB), which transmits the representation of uncertainty between each backbone module. For block-wise uncertainty estimation, we use our proposed Uncertainty-aware Distribution Feature Modulator(UDFM) as the backbone of DWC to modulate the uncertainty inside the neural network itself. Extensive experimental validations on our proposed stereo image sand removal dataset SandST confirm the efficacy of DWC. Our method not only achieves higher PSNR and SSIM, but also exhibits enhanced robustness against various sand degrees and patterns. © 2025 ieee.
