Early advancements in quantum computing have opened up new possibilities to tackle complex problems across various fields, including mathematics, physics, and healthcare. However, the technology required to construct systems where different quantum and classical software components collaborate is currently lacking. To address this, substantial progress in service-oriented quantum computing is necessary, empowering developers to create and operate quantum services and microservices that are comparable to their classical counterparts. The main objective of this work is to establish the essential technological infrastructure for integrating an Enterprise service Bus (ESB). This integration enables developers to implement quantum algorithms through independent and automatable services, thereby facilitating the collaboration of quantum and classical software components. Additionally, this work has been validated through a practical case using Zato, a platform that supports service-oriented architectures. By achieving this goal, developers can harness the power of quantum computing while benefiting from the flexibility, scalability, and efficiency of service-oriented computing. This integration opens up new possibilities for developing advanced quantum applications and tackling real-world challenges across various domains.

Serverless computing offers a novel alternative for developing and deploying applications. By abstracting backend architecture from the user, developers are encouraged to write code without worrying about server management, scaling, or maintenance. The Function-as-a-service (FaaS) model optimizes this by allowing developers to deploy discrete functions that scale automatically in response to demand without deep concerns about the scalability of the execution infrastructure or platform. Lithops, a multi-cloud serverless computing framework, follows this trend and enables developers to execute Python code across thousands of cloud cores without modifying local scripts. Despite its potential to deploy parallel jobs, Lithops has been designed for running big data jobs over cloud environments, and its applicability to High-Performance computing (HPC) systems has been unexplored. This paper introduces a novel architecture enabling Lithops deployment in HPC systems like the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer. By leveraging the immense computational power of the HPC-MN5 supercomputer and the FaaS model of Lithops, the architecture aims to offer high performance and scalability while simplifying application coding and deployment. Our evaluations display Lithops' benchmarks over the MareNostrum 5 HPC scale with the number of nodes, outperforming other commercial cloud platforms in terms of Floating Point Operations Per Second (FLOPS) and read-write bandwidth, and avoiding CPU wastage.

Serverless computing is increasing its popularity in the industry. However, practitioners still have issues when using it, also because serverless bad practices, bad smells, and anti-patterns have not been deeply investigated. In this work, we identify the main bad practices experienced by practitioners during the development of serverless-based applications. We interviewed 91 experienced practitioners and we performed a focus group to analyze the solutions they adopted to solve the issues generated by the bad practice. Moreover, we propose the most appropriate solutions based on our professional experience. The results can be helpful to other practitioners to avoid facing the same issues, to understand how to overcome them, and to researchers that can better validate them and propose alternative solutions.

The number of Web services on the Internet has been steadily increasing in recent years due to their growing popularity. Under the big data environment, how to effectively manage Web services is of significance for service discovery, service recommendation, etc. It is widely studied that Web services clustering is an effective way for service management. However, most of the current Web service clustering only extracts the information of Web services for clustering from one view, such as Web service content descriptions, networks in which Web services participate, and so on. Extracting information from Web services only unilaterally will not be able to provide a three-dimensional and comprehensive description of Web services, which may diminish the effect of Web service clustering. In addition, some Web service resources will be wasted if other information of Web services is not used at the same time. We find that multi-view clustering can simultaneously consider multiple information of a data at the same time, and multiple information can complement and enhance each other according to the characteristics of multiview clustering. Therefore, in this paper, we apply Web services to graph-based multi-view clustering in multi-view clustering to improve the performance of Web service clustering by simultaneously considering multiple feature information about Web services and distributing different weights to different information in the clustering process. © 2023 ieee.

Caching and coded delivery of content at the wireless edge have significantly enhanced content delivery performance. However, an attempt to incorporate it in various edge computing platform standards is lacking. This paper explores the standardization aspects of a caching and coded delivery system in a Multi-access Edge computing (MEC) enabled 5G system. In this paper, coded delivery is proposed as a MEC service that can be utilized by various applications such as caching applications in the MEC platform. The coded delivery service utilizes the Multicast Broadcast service (MBS) of the 5G system, employing the Point-To-Multipoint (PTM) delivery method for efficient packet delivery to User equipment (UEs). The proposed system accommodates content caching at end-user devices and MEC storage while efficiently transmitting coded multicast to improve the performance of applications such as video streaming, AR/VR for 5G and beyond. © 2024 ieee.

In the domain of Cloud computing, Fog computing is integrated with the Cloud to offer a balanced approach that combines Cloud's scalability with Fog's low latency, enabling efficient software application deployment. However, many current studies overlook the unpredictability of future user requests, such as assuming all requests are known beforehand. User requests often arrive dynamically and may have different quality of service (QoS) preferences. Therefore we need effective methods to handle dynamic application deployment with multiple objectives. This paper tackles this gap by modeling a multi-objective application deployment problem that considers dynamically arriving users' requests on application deployment in a Cloud-Fog environment. We further introduce a multi-objective Genetic Programming Hyper-Heuristic based approach to automatically generate a set of deployment rules that can be chosen according to users' QoS preferences. These rules are generated with different trade-offs of two optimization objectives, i.e., minimizing cost and latency, which can be used for deploying applications dynamically. Our experimental evaluation using real-world data demonstrates that our GPHH approach can generate effective heuristics for deploying applications in an integrated Cloud-Fog environment.

This research explores the synergistic utilization of LiDAR technology with the Robot Operating System (ROS) for transformative applications in both efficient building construction floor measurement and the operation of autonomous mobile robots in the construction environments. The proposed system involves mounting LiDAR sensors on mobile robots controlled by ROS, enabling autonomous or remote navigation through spaces. This integration facilitates the creation of accurate 3D models of floor surfaces, enhancing precision and efficiency in construction processes. The structural components, including Raspberry Pi, LiDAR sensor, L298 Motor Driver, MPU 9250, and 12V Lithium-ion Battery, form a robust foundation. Python, employing object-oriented programming, governs robot behaviour, sensor interfacing, and LiDAR data processing. The system's advantages encompass precision, efficiency, real-time information, safety, and flexibility, with applications ranging from floor planning and construction progress monitoring to quality control and safety enhancement. The floor measurement system integrated with the ROS SLAM helps in autonomous functioning of the system. This helps the elimination of man power in sensitive and dangerous areas. © 2024 ieee.

A primary design objective for Data-intensive User-facing (DU) services for cloud and edge computing is to maximize query throughput, while meeting query tail latency service Level Objectives (SLOs) for individual queries. Unfortunately, the existing solutions fall short of achieving this design objective, which we argue, is largely attributed to the fact that they fail to take the query fanout explicitly into account. In this paper, we propose TailGuard based on a Tail-latency-SLO-and-Fanout-aware Earliest-Deadline-First Queuing policy (TF-EDFQ) for task queuing at individual task servers the query tasks are fanned out to. With the task queuing deadline for each task being derived based on both query tail latency SLO and query fanout, TailGuard takes an important first step towards achieving the design objective. TailGuard is evaluated against First-In-First-Out (FIFO) task queuing, task PRIority Queuing (PRIQ) and Tail-latency-SLO-aware EDFQ (T-EDFQ) policies by simulation. It is driven by three types of applications in the Tailbench benchmark suite. The results demonstrate that TailGuard can improve resource utilization by up to 80%, while meeting the targeted tail latency SLOs, as compared with the other three policies. TailGuard is also implemented and tested in a highly heterogeneous Sensing-as-a-service (SaS) testbed for a data sensing service, with test results in line with the other ones.

Edge computing has emerged as a popular paradigm for handling heterogeneous tasks to improve computing capacity and promote quality of service (QoS). Multi-access edge computing can balance overall benefits while increasing the efficiency of edge ***,the design of computation offloading is challenging. This study provides a Graph Attention Network Reinforcement Learning (GATRL) framework to address the offloading challenge, which models devices and edge servers as digraphs and the state policy by graph properties to address the problem. The GATRL uses supervised learning and combines the GAT and DQN. We propose a method to identify the approximate solution to achieve fast convergence based on the data generated by Gaussian distribution relied on actual parameters. Compared to other methods, numerical results show that the proposed GATRL algorithm can achieve near-optimal performance and significantly reduce the off-load *** addition, graph neural networks can adapt to more variable network environments, thus rapidly changing the model structure and giving offloading solutions.
