Based on TRIZ ideal final result (IFR) and technology evolution theory, the technology forecasting process of product technologysystem radical innovation is put forward. The paper offers a kind of innovation method for product radical innovation design on the stage of fuzzy front end (FFE), which considers the result as the final high quality ideas of FFE. As a case study, the direct shift gearbox (DSG) is investigated. The study shows that the adoption of this method makes the application of the initial stage of product development feasible.

Information technology (IT) capability plays an important role in the rapidly changing environment. So enterprise must build and enhance IT capability. Through reviewing literature, we summarize the components of the IT capability. Specifically, we use empirical study to verify that IT capability is comprised of four dimensions, namely IT architecture and routine, IT infrastructure, human IT resource and IT relationship assets. Moreover, we designated an index system of IT capability. Based on a large-scale questionnaire study, this paper examines IT capability's contribution to performance based on 145 valid samples. The findings indicate that, IT capability is positively associated with the firm's performance. Among the IT capability's contribution to performance;the effects of different capabilities are different.

As the amount of software is increasing in embedded systems, the software engineering methods and techniques can be applied in their development. In this scenario, Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) has previously been used in the development of embedded systems. However, the concepts of SOC are mostly used at the implementation level without any focus on system analysis and design. To fill this gap, a systematic process model is proposed in this paper for service-oriented development of embedded software systems. The proposed process consists of analysis and design phases of software development. The analysis phase is concerned with the collection of system information and preparation for the system design. Based on this, the system models are developed in the design phase. The effectiveness of the proposed process model is demonstrated through its application in the Smart Home case study. Following the model-based software engineering process, the high-level models can be transformed into the low-level code.

With service-oriented environments' the real-time acquisition of new software functions relies on dynamic service discovery with the Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) protocol. Both the fluidity of services and updates in service offerings affect service users via access operations of service data in registry repositories conformed to the protocol. One valuable usage of UDDI-specific systems is to guarantee real time responses to service enquiries with the service data that reflects the most updated information of services. In this paper, we present a federated UDDI system for service-oriented environment within an enterprise or organization boundary. Its distributed architecture allows the system to easily process data process requirements from service providers and users in a correlated and synchronized way. The system is designed with a special support of concurrent access to service data. We describe the synchronization technology used in the system that is based on optimistic timestamp-ordering. Our simulation tests validate the effectiveness of service data access with our federated UDDI registry system.

Fish processing industries involve the usage of energy-intensive equipment, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and ice making machines leading to high energy costs and, indirectly, to an increase of the carbon emissions. As most fish industries sites are old, there is a strong need to make them more sustainable and achieve economic competitiveness in the energy market. Micro-grids have been utilised as efficient solutions in energy-intensive industries greatly balancing energy consumption and production at different scales. Smart micro-grids can also reduce carbon emissions by using renewable energy resources and applying smart energy management techniques. In this paper, we propose a smart micro-grid system for fish-processing industries with a validation use-case at Milford Haven Port in South Wales, UK. The system has been modelled using EnergyPlus and Matlab with the infinite grid, renewable energy resource, battery and charge/ discharge controllers utilized for optimising energy consumption and production and for reducing carbon emissions. The preliminary results show that local power demand can meet the local power generation with the implementation of smart energy management techniques to support decision making for fish-processing industries.

Since knowledge is created and utilized during the execution of business processes, knowledge itself separated from the business process context does not lead to the ability to take the right action towards target performance. Proposed in this paper is the framework of process-centered knowledge model for context-rich knowledge storage and retrieval during the task execution. Enterprise knowledge object of knowledge model is classified into two types: process knowledge and task support knowledge. In the enterprise ontology which represents major enterprise concepts and relationships among them, all domain concepts are related to "process" concept directly and indirectly. To show the applicability of the proposed framework, process-centered KMS was developed which is classified into 3 parts: 1) Project management sub-system based on process knowledge. 2) Knowledge management sub-system for maintaining task support knowledge. 3) Infrastructure subsystem which supports the above two sub-systems.
