Augmented reality (AR) is a rapidly emerging technology in education, notably employed to enhance spatial understanding in engineering drawing. However, its impact on conceptual knowledge remains under-explored. This study assesses the acceptance of AR among engineering drawing students using an AR-based application called EDINAR. The research involved 392 first-year engineering students from a private engineering institute, who went through different methods for learning engineering drawing fundamentals. Performance analysis through an independent t-test demonstrated significant improvement among participants. Also, positive feedback on AR's acceptance was received by participants. The result emphasizes the potential of AR to transform how engineering concepts are taught and comprehended by undergraduate students.

The intentional design and fitting of intelligent autonomous systems (IAS) swarms to operating environments is a system of systems engineering priority. IAS are artificial, physical systems that modify their behaviors in response to environmental stimuli, without needing external approval: a swarm, or cooperative team, of IAS is, therefore, a system of systems. Importantly, the extent to which the structure of an IAS swarm fits its operating environment, particularly how it cooperatively coordinates task performance, is a significant determinant of group performance and mission accomplishment. This study computationally investigated the impact of three cooperative coordination designs on swarm performance, using the scenario of monitoring for and reporting indications of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing activities. Consistent with expectations, a design characterized by greater decentralized decision-making and employment of distributed, differentiated specializations outperformed other designs. Future studies should explore the impacts of these cooperative coordination designs on the performance of other swarm missions and assess the relevancy of the designs in field experimentation.

This paper presents a description of the current landscape of systems of systems (SoS) engineering based on the results of a meta-analysis of 168 ieee papers published between 2020 and 2023 on SoS. Using ieee Xplore, papers with 'system of systems' in their title were downloaded and reviewed to develop a description of the current state of SoS engineering. Using ChatGPT 4.0 as an assist, the papers were reviewed, and the results are presented in this paper. This includes how SoS was defined across these papers, the geographical distribution of authors, the domain areas addressed, the technologies included in both the SoS themselves and in the SoS engineering methods. This includes the use of model-based approaches, graph analysis and artificial intelligence. Finally challenges and benefits cited across the papers are summarized.

Global climate changes have increased the frequency and consequences of disasters, which affects the stable operation of the electric power network. Thus, substation system as a significant part of electric power network, its optimal emergency operation facing disaster has attracted much attention. This paper focuses on the workforce routing and scheduling problem (WRSP) in the substation system emergency operation, which is formulated as a mixed integer linear programming problem with the objective of maximizing system resilience. Task association constraint model and technicians routing constraint model are established to describe the cooperative relationship between technicians of different crews and the complex relationship between tasks respectively. Task and feeder output correlation constraint model is established to correlate the execution of tasks in continuous time with the discrete time output of the substation feeders. In this way, the technician assignment is independent of time and the problem can be efficiently solved by optimization solver. The performance and effectiveness of the developed method is demonstrated using a practical case study. The results show that the developed model can effectively coordinate technicians and tasks, and improve the resilience of this system to disasters.

With the rapid development of UAV technology, its applications in various fields have become increasingly widespread, especially in navigation and path planning in complex environments, which have become key issues. This paper proposes a new UAV navigation system design based on behavioral programming theory, utilizing a modular design approach to achieve flexible path planning and obstacle avoidance. The system design focuses on the control algorithms of behavioral programming, path planning algorithms, and dynamic adjustment and optimization of UAV behavior. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves high navigation accuracy and obstacle avoidance capability in complex environments, enhancing the autonomy and safety of the UAV. Finally, the performance of the system is evaluated, and future research directions and optimization suggestions are proposed.

In the paper, the results of the predesigning a RoF-Based Millimeter-Wave Access Sub-Network in a Megapolis 5G Cellular Communication system are presented and discussed. In order to put the study in a practical direction, the capital of the Russian Federation, the city of Moscow, was chosen as a realistic object under investigation. On its territory, one of the largest in terms of area and population, the Western administrative district, was selected, and within it, the municipal district of Ramenki, in which a fiber-wireless-configured network with wireless communication in the band of 37.0-43.5 GHz was predesigned.
