Workflows in High-Performance computing (HPC) are rapidly changing towards more complex and large-scale workflows. In particular, high-throughput and ensemble workflows are becoming increasingly common. These workflows impose significant burden on current HPC scheduling systems which typically use slow, centralized schedulers. Generalized hierarchical scheduling (GHS) is a potential solution to face modern workflows but is not widely adopted in HPC yet. One difficulty hindering widespread adoption is the lack of performance models to configure and fit application requirements. The few existing models are often built on stick assumptions that can substantially reduce the analysis realism. In this paper, we reproduce the analysis and improve the realism of a state-of-the-art model presented in "An Analytical Performance Model of Generalized Hierarchical Scheduling" [1] by Herbein and co-authors. Specifically, we first reproduce four key analysis studies in the original paper and then expand the model by removing key assumptions, one at a time. In doing so, we extend the realism of the original model. We empirically validate our extended model using three different scenarios and discuss the observed accuracy.

Security attacks on e-commerce platforms are increasingly prevalent, posing significant risks to both users and organizations. These attacks aim to cause financial harm or disrupt e-commerce services, highlighting the critical need for robust security measures. This study investigates key security attacks targeting e-commerce platforms and evaluates the efficacy of various attack detection methods. Through a comprehensive literature review and descriptive analysis, the study identifies financial frauds, phishing, and Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks as the major threats to e-commerce systems. Furthermore, the study examines different detection methods, revealing that blockchain-based security systems emerge as the most effective solution against a range of identified security attacks. Building upon these findings, this paper proposes a novel framework, dubbed e-CommerceShield, which integrates user awareness, DNS matching, and blockchain technology to enhance security in e-commerce environments. The framework prioritizes proactive security measures, empowers users with awareness and education, and leverages advanced technologies to detect and prevent security threats effectively. By adopting the e-CommerceShield framework, e-commerce platforms can fortify their security posture and safeguard the integrity of online transactions, thereby fostering trust and confidence among users in the digital marketplace. © 2024 ieee.

Superconducting quantum circuit interfacing frequently entails working with multi-GHz radio frequency signals. The quickly evolving field relies on FPGA-based software-defined radio systems, providing the required flexible low -latency signal synthesis and analysis capabilities. Consequently, there are many custom hardware developments and upcoming commercial systems with proprietary interfaces. In contrast, this contribution presents a compact, platform -agnostic frequency conversion and level matching analogue front-end for 800 MHz vector signal generation, which expands the covered frequency band for any SMA connectorised system from baseband frequencies below 400MHz to 4-10 GHz. It is in active use for quantum bit characterisation and for quantum sensor readout.

The simulation of interconnection network and MPI message transportation behavior is an important part of the simulation of High-performance computing systems. Current research on the simulation of message transportation in HPC systems mainly focuses on the simulation of interconnection networks of the target HPC system. However, with the development of HPC techniques, the procedure of message transportation in HPC systems has become more complicated. Firstly, the low-latency transportation techniques, e.g. RDMA or RoCe, involve not only the interconnection network but also essential operations on messages inside send/receive nodes. Secondly, collective communications generate a vast number of messages and impact performance significantly. It is necessary to accurately simulate the whole procedure for all messages. To address the above problems, this paper presents SimMSG, a message-trace-driven simulator that simulates the whole transportation procedure of MPI messages in HPC systems. SimMSG simulates message transportation by incorporating simulation of MPI communication routines, in-node underlying processing of messages and message transportation in the interconnection network. We evaluate SimMSG with a real HPC system. SimMSG simulates the real-captured message-traces from the system and can re-produce the whole message transportation behavior of the parallel program in the target system. experimental results demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of SimMSG. © 2023 ieee.

Quantum computing and natural language processing (NLP) could transform smart farming. Decision-making and resource management improve with convergence, enabling new agricultural solutions. This technique solves traditional computing's problems with large datasets and complex language processing, making it crucial for real-time decision-making. Problems include complex quantum algorithms, NLP models in quantum frameworks, and quantum hardware. This study presents Smart Agriculture computing based on Quantum Natural Language Processing (SAC-QNLP) to overcome the aforesaid challenges. Agricultural data systems use quantum computing, data flow, and quantum-enhanced NLP algorithms. Quantum computing assesses large, complicated datasets faster than standard methods. Thus, smart agricultural strategy apps learn more and forecast better. Increased production projections from genetic and environmental factors SAC-QNLP could change farming. A simulation evaluated SAC-QNLP's performance and scalability. Older methods use more resources, produce less precise data, and are less efficient. The results show SAC-QNLP could boost farming production and sustainability. © 2024 ieee.

With the amalgamation of information and communication technologies the legacy power system networks are evolving as smart grids. Through Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) and Phasor Data Concentrators (PDCs), operators can monitor and control the smart grid network. enhanced communication in smart grid results in increased vulnerability to cyber-attacks. Different security mechanisms based on symmetric cryptography are reported in the literature to secure synchrophasor communication against different attacks. These symmetric cryptographic algorithm-based security mechanisms require a mechanism to securely share the secret key. This paper proposes a Key Distribution Scheme (KDS) based on IeC 61850-90-5 standard which authenticates the end communicating entities and to share the secret key based on the latest Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 protocol. Furthermore, the communication is protected with a shared symmetric session key. This paper presents the details of the mechanism for key sharing using the proposed KDS scheme for IeC 61850-90-5 multicast synchrophasor communication. Finally, Analysis on security and performance of the proposed scheme is reported. © 2023 ieee.

The computational power of High-Performance computing (HPC) systems is constantly increasing, however, their input/output (IO) performance grows relatively slowly, and their storage capacity is also limited. This unbalance presents significant challenges for applications such as Molecular Dynamics (MD) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), which generate massive amounts of data for further visualization or analysis. At the same time, checkpointing is crucial for long runs on HPC clusters, due to limited walltimes and/or failures of system components, and typically requires the storage of large amount of data. Thus, restricted IO performance and storage capacity can lead to bottlenecks for the performance of full application workflows (as compared to computational kernels without IO). In-situ techniques, where data is further processed while still in memory rather to write it out over the I/O subsystem, can help to tackle these problems. In contrast to traditional post-processing methods, in-situ techniques can reduce or avoid the need to write or read data via the IO subsystem. They offer a promising approach for applications aiming to leverage the full power of large scale HPC systems. In-situ techniques can also be applied to hybrid computational nodes on HPC systems consisting of graphics processing units (GPUs) and central processing units (CPUs). On one node, the GPUs would have significant performance advantages over the CPUs. Therefore, current approaches for GPU-accelerated applications often focus on maximizing GPU usage, leaving CPUs underutilized. In-situ tasks using CPUs to perform data analysis or preprocess data concurrently to the running simulation, offer a possibility to improve this underutilization. © 2023 ieee.

Cloud computing, as an emerging hot topic in the current IT (Information Technology) industry, has received high attention from all sectors of society. The concept of cloud computing has been around for several years, and major companies have been utilizing virtualization technology to provide users with massive virtual computing and storage resources. With the development of computer virtualization technology, computing resources such as virtual machines in cloud computing are rapidly growing. To meet the increasingly diverse application needs, dynamic deployment is often required on massive computing resources. How to migrate existing services to cloud computing platforms is a very complex and large-scale research task, and the core issue is how to achieve automatic deployment of multiple components on cloud computing platforms. This method can not only reduce the false alarm rate during manual deployment, but also adapt to the complex and ever-changing demand characteristics in cloud computing, and more effectively achieve resource horizontal expansion. Therefore, this article explored the design of cloud resource scheduling algorithms for Service Level Agreement (SLA) to support automatic deployment of services on cloud platforms. Through experiments, it was verified that when the task length was 8*100*3600, the throughput of Hill Climbing algorithm, Simulated Annealing algorithm, and MSDA (Multiple Source Data Analysis) algorithm was 800 tasks/second, 900 tasks/second, and 1000 tasks/second, respectively, The throughput performance of cloud data centers was superior to other algorithms. © 2023 ieee.

An expanding number of renewable energy sources is posing a problem for the energy grid's safety and stability. This research provides a set-up with a variable reactive power method for renewable energy systems with high levels of transient stability evaluation be able to improve the power system's safety and stability. As part of a multi-scenario evaluation of high penetration renewable energy grids, dynamic reactive power capacity allocation is accomplished. Finally, use the ieee 39-bus system as an example to demonstrate the method's viability. Method may effectively enhance power grid security and stability, decrease danger of large-scale off-grid from high penetration renewable energy grid, and lead the safe and stable operation of the renewable energy base, according to the study © 2022 ieee.
