This paper will propose a system design by using FPGA platform to implement the home automatic system in temperature and humidity control. A typical automation system will be achieved by a MCU controller, sensors, actuators, and man-machine interface. In the proposed application, the system consists of a FPGA chip, a temperature and humidity sensor, servo/DC motor, stepper motor, buzzer, keypad, button switches, 7-segment LEDs, and an LCD display, and all modules, included top module and interfaces' modules, will be implemented by the FPGA chip instead of MCU controller. Due to using motors to control air convection in the house, a better temperature and humidity can be performed. The details will be described in the following. © 2023 ieee.

With the improvement of safety and operation standardization requirements in power industry, real-time motion recognition technology has become the key to ensure the stable operation of power system. This paper presents a design and optimization scheme of real-time power scene action recognition system based on edge deployment. This research adopts deep learning technology, especially the hybrid model of convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short term memory networks (LSTM), and combines edge computing architecture to design an efficient and accurate action recognition system. By real-time monitoring and identifying the operation actions of the staff in the power scene, the system can find potential safety hazards in time and improve the safety and operation efficiency of the power system. In the aspect of algorithm research, this paper further improves the accuracy and real-time performance of motion recognition by introducing attention mechanism and lightweight network structure. In the strategy of edge deployment, model compression and pruning are used to optimize the model performance, and edge computing devices with high performance and low power consumption are selected to realize the efficient deployment and operation of deep learning models on edge devices. The experimental results show that the system has achieved high recognition accuracy on several public data sets and user-defined data sets, and is significantly better than the traditional methods. In addition, the system shows good stability and reliability in practical application, which provides strong support for the intelligent upgrade of the power industry. © 2024 ieee.

By the end of 2020, China's property management industry total market size of about 33 billion square meters, the market is broad. In the traditional sense, most of the property cleaning work is based on manual work, and the property cleaning robot can replace manual work for a long time with high efficiency and high quality to improve the cleaning efficiency, which is inseparable from the construction of its control system. In this paper, the control system of the cleaning robot is designed based on the open source robot operating system ROS and STM32 processor. The whole system can be divided into main controller module, motion control module, operation control module, power module, sensor module and communication module. Each module works together to realize the environmental perception, motion control and continuous operation of the cleaning robot. © 2022 ieee.

The need for environmental protection and energy conservation in the twenty-first century has highlighted the urgency of advancing Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. This research study contributes to this trajectory by introducing a novel foot-controlled steering system for electric skateboards, aiming to enhance vehicle control while promoting sustainable transportation practices. This study proposes the conceptualization and design of the electric skateboard utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools, followed by the development of simulation models to validate its performance across diverse road conditions. Comprehensive equipment and cost analysis are then conducted to assess the feasibility and economic viability of the proposed model. Furthermore, the research study includes the manufacturing process, encompassing the assembly of skateboards, integration of electric motor drives, and the design of in-built controllers to facilitate seamless operation. Notably, this study focuses on refining the design to optimize performance for off-road usage, thereby expanding the utility and versatility of the electric skateboard. By integrating innovative engineering solutions with sustainability principles, this study not only contributes to the advancement of electric vehicle technology but also advances the realization of efficient and intelligent transportation systems, aligning with the requirements of contemporary environmental stewardship and economic development. © 2024 ieee.

With the development of computer technology, visual algorithms and camera technology, non-contact human-computer interaction have gradually become the mainstream of people's daily life, and the campus should also follow the trend of the times to establish an epoch-making and more interactive modern teaching environment. This paper proposes a highly convenient and innovative interactive teaching system that integrates various cutting-edge technologies including gesture recognition technology, face recognition technology based on HOG feature computing, and Internet of Things technology. Teachers can use gestures to control computers after logging in through face recognition. Using subconscious and natural gestures to teach lesson can simplify computer-side operation and improve teachers' lecture efficiency. © 2023 ieee.

Nondestructive testing is the most economical method for material inspection used in science and technology industries to evaluate the properties of a material component or system without causing damage. Aside from straightforward sensory inspections, the most popular nondestructive testing methods for welds include liquid penetrant, radiography, magnetic particle, eddy current, and ultrasonic testing. Contaminants and metallurgical flaws can be introduced into the weld via the welding process and technique. A weak weld causes a welding fault, which weakens the joint. It is described as the location in the welding process that is outside the allowable tolerance. In our research, we have applied data augmentation technique to our dataset. Further, we have used Detectron2 which offers various detection and segmentation algorithms to perform instance segmentation to segment out various defects in the images of welds. We used Slicing aided Hyper Inference to slice and overlap the images and performed large-scale instance segmentation using Mask R-CNN X101-FPN on 44,339 images. The approach results in 0.98 training accuracy of MASK- RCNN and a total training loss of 0.2. The Average Precision is calculated as 0.826. © 2023 ieee.

In industrial control systems (ICS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs) directly control and monitor physical processes in real-time such as nuclear plants, and power grid stations. Adversaries typically transfer malicious control logic to PLCs over the network to sabotage a physical process. These control logic attacks are well-understood containing machine instructions in network packets and are likely to be detected by network intrusion detection systems (IDS). On the other hand, return-oriented programming (ROP) reuses blocks (or gadgets) of existing code in computer memory to create and execute malicious code. It limits or eliminates the need to transfer machine instructions over the network, making it stealthier. Currently, ROP attacks on control logic has never been discussed in the literature to explore it as a practical ICS attack. This paper is the first attempt in this direction to explore challenges for a successful ROP attack on real-world PLCs, including maintaining a continuous (control logic) scan cycle through ROP gadgets, no user input (to cause a buffer overflow) to overwrite the stack for gadget installation, and limited ROP gadgets in a PLC memory to find blocks of instructions equivalent to the high-level constructs of PLC programming languages (such as instruction list, and ladder logic). We identify and utilize typical PLC design features (that we find exploitable) to overcome these challenges, which makes ROP attacks applicable to most PLCs e.g., no stack protection, and remote access to certain PLC memory regions via ICS protocols. We demonstrate two successful ROP attacks on the control logic programs of three fully-functional physical processes, i.e., a belt conveyor system, a four-floor elevator, and a compact traffic light system. The first ROP attack manipulates a PLC's current control logic and has two variants involving either a single or multiple gadgets;the second ROP attack constructs a control logic from scratch using gadgets

With the rapid increase in renewable energy installation nodes and the substantial enhancement of switching frequencies in the new power system, this paper proposes a design scheme for a cloud simulation software that employs the Latency Insertion Method (LIM) to decompose large-scale new power system models into several subsystems, enabling multi-platform integrated parallel computing. The self-developed platform meets the demands of ultra-large simulation scales, ultra-small simulation time steps, and massive simulation computations in power systems. Experimental results demonstrate that the accelerated simulation technology, which integrates model segmentation using LIM with multi-core parallel execution, can enhance the simulation speed by up to 858 times while maintaining simulation accuracy. This significantly improves simulation efficiency and is suitable for large-scale simulations of new power systems. © 2024 ieee.

To realize an autonomous control system that operates in cooperation with humans, safety design that considers human decisions and behaviors is essential. systems- Theoretic Accident Model and Processes (STAMP) and system- Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) can analyze interactions between systems and humans that cause hazards, such as mistakes by human operators. However, it is hard to extract the behaviors of humans who are out in the same field as autonomous devices and work in cooperation with the systems as hazard causal factors with conventional STPA methods. In this study, we propose an extended STPA method that can systematically analyze hazard causal factors in the behaviors of humans who coexist and cooperate with autonomous control systems in the same field as autonomous devices. The proposed method (1) defines information that is given to humans by the systems and may cause hazardous human behavior as unsafe control actions and (2) identifies hazard causal factors with guidewords improved to be applicable to humans. Through a case study on a system that controls automated guided vehicles in an area where humans are present, it was shown that the proposed method can extract human's erroneous decisions and behaviors that may cause hazardous situations as hazard causal factors. © 2023 ieee.

When a robot's coordinate system and the environment map have a correspondence with localization algorithms, problems arise related to the accurate and direct measurement of the robot's position, which is directly linked to sensor measurements that often contain errors, noise, and influencing factors. In this article, an experiment will be conducted to demonstrate error propagation and the attempt at correction using the mentioned algorithms. This study will involve comparing simulation and odometry results from a real robot through two different trajectories. Correction techniques were used through the ROS framework to assess the robot's position using the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), which performs a fusion of data from Odometry sensors, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), and the Adaptive Monte Carlo Localization (AMCL) algorithm on a Turtlebot3 in an indoor environment. Additionally, two navigation tests were conducted, one using the map generated by simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and another using a computer-aided design (CAD) map of the environment where the robot is navigating. In this sense, the tests provide us with a comparison of sensor localization and localization algorithms in CAD and SLAM maps.
