Extending the CORBA programming and execution environments to support real-timedistributed applications is a subject of growing interests to both research and industry community. The time-triggered message triggered object (TMO) programming scheme has been established to remove the severe limitations of conventional object structuring techniques in developing real-timedistributed applications. To facilitate the construction of TMO-structured real-timedistributed applications consisting of CORBA-compliant components, a middleware named TMO Execution Support (TMOES) has been created. TMOES instantiations residing in cooperating computing nodes also communicate among themselves only via ORBs conforming to the standard specifications. TMOES instantiations cooperate among themselves to support timely execution of TMO methods and interactions among remote TMOs. This paper presents the architecture and an implementation model of TMOES.

The Experimentation Command and Control Interface (XC21) project has developed an architecture for a Web-service based viewer/controller for use with distributed simulations supporting military experiments. As part of this activity, a capability for Interest Management with three functions is being created. The functions are Role Based Access Control (RBAC), Area of Interest Management (AOIM), and Aggregation Interest Management (AGIM). While the approach is compatible with High Level Architecture (HLA) for Modeling and Simulation, primary information exchange takes place using the Web services, i.e. software-to-software messaging interfaces that operate over Web protocols such as XML/SOAP. This paper presents a Web services Internet Management (WSIM) architecture designed to achieve these capabilities in a way that is compatible with simulations using the HLA. The protocols and information flow structure are described, along with the architecture's design rationale, interest management rules, and plans for its implementation. The paper concludes with a description of potential for future development of WSIM, including adoption of the Command and Control Information Exchange Data Model (C21EDM) and use of Overlay Multicast for data distribution.
Many recent applications involve processing and analyzing uncertain data. Recently, several research efforts have addressed answering skyline queries efficiently on massive uncertain datasets. However, the research la...

distributed system frameworks (also known as middlewares) are developed to wrap distributedcomponents regard. less of their program languages, operating systems, and hardware platforms. Middleware hides networking details from application developers, and it increases reusability and reconfigurability of developed systems. CORBA (Common object Request Broker Architecture) is a standard middleware. We adapt CORBA for our multi-robot research since it hides all network program details from programmers. Thus, CORBA increases development efficiency and component reusability. Recently real-time CORBA (RT-CORBA) has been defined by object Management Group (OMG), and it supports many real-time properties. Using RT-CORBA, we can define and implement real-time applications with stringent end-to-end quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this research, we tested one of the RT-CORBA properties. We show our testing result of a propagated priority model to guarantee that a high priority client invocation can be processed before that of a low priority client.
This paper describes the advances in software design methods for concurrent, real-time and distributed applications from structured methods for centralized systems to distributed, object-oriented, component-based and ...
