The paper contribute to establish pragmatic methods to obtain modeling, identification and control laws of double stator windings induction generator DSWIG. The DSWIG model is obtained by formally juxtaposing/over lapping two induction machines, mechanically and magnetically identical to the real DSWIG machine, and having as stator winding the DSWIG load winding, one of them, and the second one having, as stator winding, the DSWIG excitation winding. The DSWIG parameters may be obtained experimentally by idle-running and short-circuit tests as will shown in the paper. The voltage and current control laws may be obtained using the proposed DSWIG equivalent scheme of it's as will shown below in the paper.

This paper proposes an adaptive algorithm for the control and synchronization of a class of second order chaotic systems which exact dynamics or parameters are unknown in priori. The proposed control scheme includes a feedback controller and a feedforward compensator. Both the gains of the controller and the compensator are updated by an adaptation algorithm derived from Model Reference Adaptive control (MRAC) theory. In the proposed approach, the optimal adaptation gains are identified using the Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm. This algorithm does not require the derivatives of the performance index to be optimized, and is therefore particularly applicable to complex systems or problems with undifferentiable elements, discontinuities or uncertainties. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by way of numerical simulations using general Duffing's systems for illustration purposes.

The paper presents an analysis concerning the evolution of the parameter estimates of a linearized model describing an induction generator connected to a power system. The performed studies consider the parameters estimation for two main cases: the induction generator operates in open-loop, respectively the induction generator operates in closed loop, under constrain of a controller (being embedded into a control system). The studies show a different shape-pattern of parameter estimates for the two considered cases, revealing a strong dependence by the variance level of disturbing noise. Therefore, especially in the case of an open-loop operating regime, a high variance of the stochastic noise can quickly leads the parameters estimator towards numerical instability.

This paper develops a solution for greenhouse climate control employing a modified Smith predictor. For the well-known greenhouse climate model with dead-time, having high nonlinearities and strong coupling, a feedback-feedforward linearization & decoupling method employing measured disturbances is used. The equivalent process has an integrator plus dead time (IPDT) behavior. The undelayed process outputs, mandatory required in the linearized & decoupled method, are obtained by using a process internal model. A modified Smith predictor is employed to control the equivalent process that uses in its structure the same process internal model. The control system performances with two fitted controller types, i.e., the modified Smith predictor and a PID controller tuned by genetic algorithms, are analyzed and compared in nominal case and with parameter variations for robustness test.

Industrial control systems are often large and complex distributed systems and therefore expose a large potential attack surface. Effectively minimizing this attack surface requires security experts and significant manpower during engineering and maintenance of the system. This task, which is already difficult for today's control systems, will become significantly more complex for tomorrow's systems, which can reconfigure themselves dynamically, e.g., if hardware failures occur. In this article, we present a dynamic security system which can automatically minimize the attack surface of a control system's communication network. This security system is specifically designed for next-generation industrial control systems, but can also be applied in current generation systems. The presented security system adapts the necessary parameters of network and security controls according to the underlying changes in the control system environment. This ensures a better cyber security resilience against system compromise and reduces the attack surface because security controls will only allow data transfer that is required by the control application. Our evaluations for a next generation industrial control system and a current generation substation automation system show that the attack surface can be reduced by up to 90%, depending on the size and actual configuration of the control system.

The paper presents a study on the behavior of some positioning control solutions for an electric drive system evolving in conditions of reference and parameter variability. The main variable parameter of the process is the moment of inertia in the context of a system that corresponds to laboratory equipment. The main advantages of the laboratory equipment are the possibility of adjusting the dynamic parameters and the ability to insert and remove the non-ideal properties in a controlled manner. Using a detailed mathematical model of the process and the particular features of the drive system, the paper proposes three control solutions. The developed position controllers are: (1) a classical PID controller, (2) a two-degree-of-freedom controller (2DOF) and (3) a Takagi-Sugeno PD+I fuzzy controller (TS-PD+I-FC). The proposed control solutions are validated by means of experiments on laboratory equipment and have a large applicability in the field of mechatronic systems, where such applications with variable inertia and control system inputs are always present.

Memristor is a nonlinear resistor with the character of memory and is proved to be suitable for simulating synapse of neuron. This paper introduces two memristors in series with the same polarity (back-to-back) as simulator for neuron's synapse and presents the model of recurrent neural networks with such back-to-back memristors. By analysis techniques and fixed point theory, some sufficient conditions are obtained for recurrent neural network having single attractor flow and multiple attractors flow. At last, simulation with numeric examples is presented to illustrate our results.

This study investigates the hybrid design by using the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy system modeling method and the Terminal Sliding Mode control (TSMC) technique. The combined scheme is shown to have the merits of both approaches. The presented scheme can alleviate the on-line computational burden because T-S fuzzy model can approximate the original nonlinear system and some of the parameters can be off-line computed. Moreover, it can also preserve the advantages of TSMC, including rapid response, robustness to uncertainties and/or external disturbance, and guaranteeing the fast finite-time state convergence. The proposed method is applied to a two-link robot manipulator dynamics, and it is also compared to the combination of T-S fuzzy system and conventional Sliding Mode control (SMC) design. Simulation results demonstrate the benefits of the proposed scheme. © 2013 ieee.

In this study, a new framework for the vehicle routing problem with pickup and delivery (VRPPD) called RouteArt is presented. Furthermore, the enhanced Heuristic Bubble Algorithm (HBA), which is a nature-inspired algorithm, is presented as a new solution approach to the VRPPD problem. This flexible web-based framework gives the user opportunity to solve the routing problems using HBA and report the solution. In order to show the benefit of using RouteArt with HBA, five case studies are discussed, and the profit of using the proposed enhanced HBA is shown with comparisons.

Performance of a low-speed servo system may deteriorate due to the influence of ripple torque, measurement noise and friction torque, etc. Among them nonlinear friction is the main factor influencing the low-speed performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). A dual-closed-loop model of PMSM including measured Stribeck friction disturbance factors is established and the simulation results show that friction can lead to "dead zone" of speed tracking and "flat top" of position tracking with traditional PID algorithm. A method of Sliding Mode control (SMC) combined with friction observer is proposed and the results show that it can improve tracking precision and robust performance of the system effectively.
