People with diabetes, clinicians and researchers alike need appropriate metrics to manage diabetes, assess the quality of blood glucose control, and guide the development of new therapies and control methods. In this paper, we review some commonly used metrics with their advantages and disadvantages. We analyze the glucose data of a CGM user to compare the results of different metrics and determine which of these gives the most complete picture of glycemic control in silico trials of artificial pancreas systems.

Power grids must be stable and reliable, but the growing importance of intelligent control in smart grids creates new challenges due to the increasing dependence on communication networks. This paper investigates the influence of communication on power systems in a future scenario. The simulation environment contains a power grid of a medium-sized city in northwest Germany, in the year 2035, where the normal operation of the power system is disturbed by increased communication traffic. The power and communication networks are integrated into a co-simulation environment, that implements smart grid services in an agent-based control structure. In a case study, multiple scenarios are compared that differ in the configuration of the communication network, to show how the simulation environment can be used to study the interactions between power and communication networks.

As the structure of power systems becomes increasingly complex, the number of possible operating modes in power systems increases, leading to a sharp rise in the difficulty and computational load of traditional power flow calculations. Meanwhile, the application of artificial intelligence technology in new power systems still lacks rationality, making it challenging to apply in real grid operations. This paper proposes a power flow convergence discriminator based on a physical information model, utilizing a multi-Layer Perceptron network to implement a voltage predictor that satisfies the equality constraints of power flow calculations. Through power flow networks and residual calculations, it meets the inequality constraints to ensure the feasibility of actual operations. Simulations were conducted on the ieee 30-bus system, and the results indicate that the power flow discriminator can accurately distinguish five types of power flow samples, achieving a testing accuracy of $96 \%$.

Determining how impactful an anomaly is on the viewing experience of an audience is important to production studios, content creators, and content distributors. However, judging the impact of each anomaly is a highly manual and subjective task. To support automation of this, we propose the use of noticeability and introduce a method of prediction. We employed a psychophysical experimental method to capture the impact of various anomalies across various images. We then developed a multi-scale context aggregation model, trained on that data, to predict the noticeability of anomalies on novel images. This noticeability prediction can then be used to prioritize anomalies and ensure that remediation efforts are spent where it would most benefit the audience experience.

This paper presents a study on using innovative machine learning techniques that can be applied in automotive traffic scenarios to increase a vehicle’s level of autonomy. The overtaking traffic scenario is treated for predicting the vehicle trajectory when overtaking another vehicle and the data is obtained by image processing using a video camera. Two different methods are compared, first by using classic tracking methods and a Kalman filter (as an adaptive filter) and second by using a machine learning technique - Support Vector Machine. The present article uses as inputs the data received from the camera and focuses on tracking selected objects and estimating their position using mainly image processing in automotive scenarios. The main purpose of this work is to experiment and compare different tracking modes to determine those that have the best performances in terms of runtime, memory usage and prediction accuracy.

The operation of belt conveyors in the mining industry faces several issues, such as premature wear of mechanical components and increased energy consumption. This article develops a simulation model of a frequency-controlled asynchronous electric drive for a belt conveyor using MATLAB/Simulink. The control system synthesis is performed using the root locus method with the Vyshnegradsky diagram. Dynamic processes occurring in the conveyor's electric drive during startup under nominal load are investigated. The results show that the minimum overshoot of the electromagnetic torque while meeting the specified requirements for the system is achieved with Vyshnegradsky parameters A=2.5 and B=3.1. Experiments confirm that the accuracy of the control system output, calculated based on the approximate transient response, is acceptable, with a deviation of 0.014%.

This work presents a solution for distant control of industrial robots using mobile devices. The developed application can monitor the motion of the robot based on video and sensor information, it can send commands and control scripts to the robot, and it ensures the jogging–like manual control of the robot. In addition to the aforementioned functionalities, the application can analyze the teleoperation performances of the user. A set of performance metrics were introduced to rate user performances. They are useful to evaluate and educate remote manual robot control techniques. Experimental measurements are also presented to show the applicability of the developed remote control application and user performance evaluation method.
