This manuscript presents an innovative methodology in the field of Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy (IAS) for gas sensing, termed the Symmetrized Dot Pattern (SDP) IAS. Traditional IAS techniques primarily focus on the amplitude of time-domain signals, often over-looking crucial information embedded within the signal structure. Addressing this limitation, our SDP methodology transforms these time-domain signals into graphical representations, thereby enhancing the extraction and analysis of data. We established the SDP framework, detailing the theoretical underpinnings of both IAS and SDP, complemented by simulation results from the HITRAN database, which served as a foundation for our experimental setup. In the practical application phase of our research, we have implemented this framework by configuring an IAS system tailored for recording calibration signals across a spectrum of gas concentrations, thereby setting the stage for real-world applicability. The experiments conducted under this setup have yielded promising results, demonstrating the efficacy of the SDP method in gas sensing applications. The system demonstrated an error margin ranging from 0.5% to 2.6%, coupled with a repetitive standard deviation of 4.82%, and achieving a detection limit of 3.81 ppm. These metrics not only attest to the precision and reliability of the SDP approach in detecting and quantifying gas concentrations but also show its potential application in the field of environmental monitoring and safety. Looking forward, we envision the integration of machine learning algorithms into the SDP framework. This integration is anticipated to further augment the capabilities of the SDP technique, potentially leading to more precise predictions, expedited processing times, and automated analysis of data. © 2024 ieee.

Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems owing to their superior performance. Monitoring battery status is crucial for ensuring safe operation and prolonging the battery life. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a common method for studying the internal processes of batteries;however, traditional EIS methods require long measurement times, making them unsuitable for real-time applications. Researchers have proposed various broadband signals to reduce measurement time. Some researchers used different types of chirp signals as excitation signals, However, the pros and cons of existing types of chirp are not analyzed. In this letter, the characteristics of different chirps are compared with their drawbacks. Then, the relationship between the chirp rate and the amplitude-frequency characteristics of different chirps are analyzed. Based on the analysis, a new type of chirp with optimized frequency has been proposed, which ultimately overcomes the drawbacks of existing chirps. Finally, the effect of the initial phase on amplitude-frequency characteristics of the proposed cubic frequency chirp is investigated and find a relatively optimal initial phase. © 2024 ieee.

The significance of web applications has grown immensely due to the widespread availability of the internet and their extensive usage across various devices. Currently, *** emerged as the most extensively embraced web framework among software developers worldwide. As a result, there is a high demand for skilled web programmers capable of developing ***-based web applications. *** allows web application development using JavaScript on the server side, making it suitable for real-time applications like collaborative tools, online games, and chat applications. This paper presents a self-learning model for ***-based web programming that incorporates test-driven development (TDD), leveraging automated testing with Jest and Supertest for code verification. The Basic Web Interface topic within this model requires students to create web elements like headers and paragraphs for personal information display, accompanied by test codes for step-by-step source code verification. Evaluation results from 40 first-year university students indicate successful completion of assignments within varying timeframes and positive feedback on the learning model's effectiveness. © 2024 ieee.

Many embedded systems have evolved from simple bare-metal control systems to highly complex network-connected systems. These systems increasingly demand rich and feature-full operating-systems (OS) functionalities. Furthermore, the network connectedness offers attack vectors that require stronger security designs. To that end, this paper defines a prototypical RTOS API called Patina that provides services common in feature-rich OSes (e.g., Linux) but absent in more trustworthy mu-kernel-based systems. Examples of such services include communication channels, timers, event management, and synchronization. Two Patina implementations are presented, one on Composite and the other on seL4, each of which is designed based on the Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP) to increase system security. This paper describes how each of these mu-kernels affect the PoLP-based design, as well as discusses security and performance tradeoffs in the two implementations. Results of comprehensive evaluations demonstrate that the performance of the PoLP-based implementation of Patina offers comparable or superior performance to Linux, while offering heightened isolation.

In recent years, several efforts have explored the construction of multi-ported RAMs using on-chip BRAMs within FPGAs to cater to real-time and data-intensive applications. These designs typically involve a collection of data banks (BRAMs) for data storage and a routing mechanism for accessing the most recent data. Prior research primarily concentrated on optimizing the routing method to reduce routing complexity. In contrast, our work focuses on BRAM consumption reduction by optimizing the distribution of data banks. To achieve this objective, we introduce a novel concept of integrating multiple hard/soft switched ports into a multi-ported RAM design, denoted as IMPC. This integration aims to minimize BRAM usage for temporal-multiplexing workloads on FPGAs. The framework relies on a predefined set of hybrid hard/soft ported memory instances to construct a specific architectural design by addressing a minimum set packing (MSP) problem for implementation optimization. The experimental results and analysis demonstrate that IMPC outperforms other solutions in terms of memory consumption and logic resource utilization for multi-ported memory configurations on FPGAs.

Ornamental plant primarily valued for their aesthetic value, fragrance or spatial shaping. They are not only making indoor and outdoor places visually more appealing, but also contribute to improved air quality, creating a healthier atmosphere and good for mental health. Despite the numerous advantages, not everyone is well-equipped with knowledge and techniques to take care of the ornamental plants, particularly indoor varieties. Inadequate care can lead to plant deterioration due to owner negligence or overenthusiastic practices, such as overwatering or excessive exposure to heat. This paper presented the development of automated monitoring system that continuously monitor environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity and soil moisture. The system integrates a cloud-based IoT system for data collection and analysis, providing a real-time view of all parameters, to ensure ideal growth conditions. Additionally, a remote water pump access is successfully incorporated into the overall system solution with 100% control system efficiency. The monitoring system is able to provide efficient plant monitoring with clear information related to the plant's condition and behaviour. This system is also cost-effective and user-friendly;catering to both novice users and nurseries with large-scale plant operations. © 2024 ieee.

Vector-borne diseases have created critical world-wide public health hazards that require innovative approaches for prevention and management. Within the context of IoT-enabled edge networks, this study offers a unique framework to build a reliable and straightforward distant prediction model for vector-borne diseases. The suggested strategy incorporates the use of edge computing capabilities to predict the onset and spread of diseases caused by vectors by using real-time data streams from mobile applications. Employing widely used techniques from machine learning, including interpretable models, our system not only achieves high prediction accuracy but also provides insight into the most important factors influencing the spread of disease. Moreover, this approach overcomes the resource constraints essential to edge networks, ensuring the prediction model's dependability and scalability. © 2024 ieee.

ROS 2, the second-generation ROS, is a popular development framework for real-time robotic software. To ensure the timing correctness of applications based on ROS 2, one must model the time delay incurred by two aspects: computation and communication. While significant work has been conducted on computing delay, formal modeling and analysis of communication delay in ROS 2 is still an open issue. In this paper, we first present a formal description on the timing behavior of inter-process communication in ROS 2 with two typical communication policies, namely the InterestTree policy and FIFO policy, and then develop analysis techniques to upper-bound the incurred delay. We conduct experiments to validate the correctness and evaluate the efficacy of our method with case studies on realistic platform. © 2023 ieee.

Byzantine fault-tolerant (BFT) state-machine replication offers resilience against a wide spectrum of faults including hardware crashes, software failures, and attacks. Unfortunately, having been mostly designed for use on large servers, existing implementations of such replication protocols consume vast amounts of memory and therefore are not available to embedded systems that consist of highly resource-constrained devices. In this paper we address this problem with TinyBFT, the first BFT state-machine replication library specifically developed to run on nodes comprising 1 MB of RAM or less. To achieve this, TinyBFT relies on a memory-efficient implementation of the PBFT protocol that allocates all of its memory statically and thus, in contrast to common state-of-the-art PBFT-based libraries, has a guaranteed worst-case memory consumption that is known at compile time. Experiments show that our library provides sufficiently low latency even on tiny ESP32-C3 microcontrollers.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet with regular exercise is important for maintaining physical and mental health. Healthy diet and exercise promise a healthier lifestyle. Other than that, people competing in different sports need a customized, strict workout and diet plan. Trainees offer their best at gymnasium by following a strict workout plan recommended by their coaches. However, there is no way till now to determine if the trainees are taking the prescribed diet strictly. Therefore, an optimized application with the feature of real time scanning of the prescribed meal can be helpful to overcome this problem. For this purpose, we have used Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) along with Image Processing. Using ResNet50 with activation functions of ReLU and Softmax, our trained CNN model and the proposed architecture achieved an accuracy of 82.70 percent. We used CNN pre-trained models such as InceptionV3 with LeakyReLU and Softmax, InceptionV3 with ReLU and Softmax, VGG16 with ReLU and Softmax, VGG16 with ReLU and Softmax, and ResNet50 with ReLU and Softmax, so the achieved accuracy, respectively, is 78%, 71%, 58%, 56%, and 82.7%. Therefore, the proposed model has the potential to achieve high performance on real time food scanning which can be used in online fitness platforms(mobile applications and websites) and fitness gadgets. © 2023 ieee.
