This paper presents experimental results of a short-range real-time full-duplex wireless link operating at frequencies between 285 and 315 GHz. Using modems with integrated E-band frontends in conjunction with H-band transmitters and receivers a superheterodyne link architecture is implemented. Over a line-of-sight distance of 0.5 meter a maximum troughput of 11.09 Gbps is achieved using complex modulation formats as high as 64-QAM. The wide LO input frequency tuning range of the H-band transmitter and receiver modules from 70 to 76.5 GHz as well as the availability of multiple modem channels with up to 2 GHz bandwidth enable the compatibility of the link with the ieee802.15.3d frequency standard and its channels 15 through 28. The testbed is operated with two standalone PCs generating, sending, receiving and processing real traffic data over a 10 Gbps Ethernet connection to the modems.

With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), there are numerous real-time applications emerging for B5G. Driven by the low-latency requirement, mobile edge computing has become an important technology for enhancing user experience and reducing network costs. However, the computing power of the single-processor CPU is limited, it is difficult to meet the low-latency requirements of computation-intensive applications. Besides, the performance of the network is limited by cell interference. In this paper, we design a user-centric Cell-Free Heterogeneous Mobile Edge Computing (CF-HetMEC) network architecture, which comprehensively utilizes the computing and transmission resources of multi-heterogeneous processors of Central Processing Units. A category-based Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) subtask offloading algorithm in CF-HetMEC network is proposed to reduce the system delay. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the processing delay and the energy consumption of CF-HetMEC network. © 2023 ieee.

Looking ahead, the study suggests combining satellite and drone technology with terrestrial monitoring to refine air quality management. To address the issue of clutter interference in ground-penetrating radar (GPR) imaging using a VNA (Vector Network Analyzer), this paper improves the traditional reverse time migration (RTM) technique for ultra-wideband GPR imaging. The improved method retains the effective signals in the detection wavefield as the valid imaging area and suppresses signals in non-valid areas. Due to variations in the distance between the transmitting and receiving antennas and the number of anomalies in the experiment, the traditional time window cross-correlation is not ideal for this scenario. The improved method automatically applies reasonable windowing to each data channel, avoiding the simultaneous enhancement of clutter interference and effective signals through direct stacking, and preventing the filtering out of effective signals. Experimental results demonstrate that this method, when applied to real measured data and compared with the traditional cross-correlation RTM method, shows advantages in more accurately locating anomalous areas and suppressing clutter interference. This validates that the Multiple time-Gating Reverse time Migration (MTG-RTM) method offers better localization and higher imaging accuracy in practical engineering applications. © 2024 ieee.

Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors are widely used in medical endoscopy because of their small size, low power consumption, and high sensitivity. However, they can suffer from vertical fixed pattern noise (VFPN), which appears as a series of vertical stripes in images and can obscure fine details, reducing image quality. Dark frame subtraction is a common technique used to eliminate VFPN, but it may result in poor image quality if the sensor parameters, such as gain and black level clamp (BLC), are not considered. This paper proposes a modified dark frame subtraction method that includes a simple preprocessing step to minimize VFPN by taking into account the impact of sensor gain and BLC. To evaluate the proposed method, it was tested in a simulation and real-time set up and its performance is compared to that of the actual dark frame subtraction. The results show that the modified method significantly improves noise reduction and enhances image quality, making it more suitable for endoscopic applications. By considering the effects of sensor parameters on VFPN, the proposed method offers a more effective solution for eliminating VFPN in CMOS image sensors used in medical endoscopy. This method can help clinicians more accurately diagnose medical conditions by providing clearer images with reduced noise and improved quality. © 2023 ieee.

With the development of hardware virtualization technology, more and more embedded hypervisors are being implemented. Traditional embedded hypervisors focus on resource utilization and real-time performance while neglecting the reliability requirements of embedded applications. In this paper, we implement two fault-tolerant mechanisms for an embedded hypervisor, which makes hypervisor more reliable without significant downtime. We apply VM migration to provide a runtime fault-tolerance mechanism to further enhance hypervisor reliability. To guarantee the regular operation of critical tasks during fault recovery, this paper implements a hypervisor live-update mechanism to complete fault recovery while avoiding migration network delays. Test results show that these mechanisms combine reliability and operational efficiency to meet the needs of embedded applications.

In recent years, face detection and recognition technology has been widely used in many important scenarios, especially for automatic driving scenarios and future Internet of vehicles. Practical challenges such as computing resource limitation and real-time processing of edge nodes need to be fully considered. In order to cope with the problem of severe computing resources limitation on the edge of the Internet of Vehicles, this paper optimized the lightweight network model Lightened CNN for face depth feature extraction. By the batch normalization mechanism, the vector distribution of facial features of different identities is dispersed. The relative feature center distance is increased. It gives the extracted features a better classification aggregation feature. According to the design flow of face recognition algorithm, the method of face alignment and similarity measurement is studied. It is designed to complete the face recognition scheme adapted to the Internet of Vehicles scene. After experiment and analysis, the face depth feature extraction network designed in this paper occupies less embedded system resources. At the same time, the face recognition algorithm designed by combining lightweight face feature extraction network, and face alignment and similarity measurement has higher accuracy. © 2023 ieee.

Innovative applications including smart cities, smart homes, education, healthcare, transportation, and defense operations all depend on the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT applications are very helpful for the delivery of healthcare since they allow for safe and real-time remote patient monitoring enhancing people's lives. The goal of this study is to create an embedded system for tracking patients with chronic diseases that require regular checkups. This embedded system uses a Raspberry Pi 4b to gather data from several sensors installed in patients' bodies, and their data is constantly saved, analyzed and processed to extract vital details about their health and transfer it safely with the help of security encryption to the IoT cloud where it is organized into an interface making it easier to use and understand, which allows users like doctors to easily access patients' data and observing their health state from any place in the world. To enhance the functionality of the system, a warning system has been integrated into the IoT platform, which warns the doctor when the patient enters an abnormal state. A notification is also delivered to the doctor's mobile device if any parameter's value exceeds the cutoff. Because of this, IOT-based real-time health monitoring systems meticulously check patient health and, when necessary, save lives. © 2023 ieee.

real-time implementation of NMPC has its limitations for the embedded applications such as solving a non-convex optimization problem within a sample time, high computational complexity, and limited onboard resources (such as processor speed, memory, power, etc.). To mitigate these limitations, we have proposed application of Successive Online Linearization-based NMPC (SOL-NMPC) to cater the fast sample time requirements of realtime embedded applications. The idea of SOL-NMPC is to derive a convex optimization (Quadratic Programming (QP)) problem at each sample time through the linearization of the nonlinear model which eventually results in a linear MPC formulation. Subsequently, the resulting LMPC is executed online by using state-of-the-art QP solvers. The developed SOLNMPC is implemented on a low-cost STM32 Nucleo development board. The 2-DOF- Helicopter model is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SOL-NMPC. Hardware-Inthe-Loop (HIL) co-simulation results demonstrate the implementation feasibility for real-time control applications. The performance is compared with the classical NMPC implemented using the GRAMPC toolbox in C/C++ environment. The comparison results show that: (i) the proposed SOL-NMPC is comparatively faster and takes less computational resources as compared to classical NMPC, (ii) successfully satisfies the constraints, and (iii) however, at the cost of reduced complexity, one needs to scarify with the accuracy as compared to NMPC. Nevertheless, the accuracy obtained by the presented SOL-NMPC is acceptable in embedded applications over the high computational burden of the classical NMPC.

Optical atomic lattice clocks are a precise source for time with frequency accuracy to a few parts in 10-18. The optical frequency from these clocks needs to be disseminated over a fiber to make them fit for different applications. The paper investigates a methodology for disseminating optical frequency over a fiber by sending the operative frequency as the beat frequency of a heterodyne signal. The work details results obtained using this technique for frequency transfer over several kilometers of fiber in the lab and real environment. © 2023 ieee.
