The utilization of data analytics to gain insights into the game of basketball has seen a remarkable surge in the past decade. Leagues such as the National Basketball Association are continuously exploring innovative methods to analyze game data, an approach that has significantly influenced the dynamics of the game. But to perform these analyses, a growing amount of data is needed, which is traditionally annotated by humans. This work proposes a 3-stage system able to automatically acquire relevant basketball game data from a broadcast video. The first stage is an object detector combined with a tracking algorithm to extract the main elements present in a basketball game video. Then, the players' visual information is analyzed to identify the players based on pixel color analysis and number recognition. Finally, a statistics generation algorithm assigns the game events to the corresponding player and team, so that the system can be used as an aid for box score annotation in major leagues, low-cost annotation in amateur games, or in-depth game video analysis.

visual impairments are a global health issue with profound socioeconomic ramifications in both the developing and the developed world. There exist ongoing research projects, that aim to investigate the influence of light in the perception of low vision individuals. But as of today, there is neither clear knowledge nor extensive data regarding the influence of light in low vision situations. This research will address these issues by introducing a methodology and a system to simulate visual impairments. A pipeline based on eye anatomy coupled with real-time image processing algorithms allows to dynamically simulate low vision specific characteristics of selected impairments in mixed reality. An original new approach based on massively parallelized processing combined with an efficient modeling of eye refractive errors aims to improve the accuracy of the low vision simulation.

Self-supervised visual representation learning has seen huge progress recently, but no large scale evaluation has compared the many models now available. We evaluate the transfer performance of 13 top self-supervised models on 40 downstream tasks, including many-shot and few-shot recognition, object detection, and dense prediction. We compare their performance to a supervised baseline and show that on most tasks the best self-supervised models outperform supervision, confirming the recently observed trend in the literature. We find imageNet Top-I accuracy to be highly correlated with transfer to many-shot recognition, but increasingly less so for few-shot, object detection and dense prediction. No single self-supervised method dominates overall, suggesting that universal pre-training is still unsolved. Our analysis of features suggests that top self-supervised learners fail to preserve colour information as well as supervised alternatives, but tend to induce better classifier calibration, and less attentive overfitting than supervised learners.

With the development of stereoscopic imaging technology, stereoscopic image quality assessment (SIQA) has gradually been more and more important, and how to design a method in line with human visual perception is full of challenges due to the complex relationship between binocular views. In this article, firstly, convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the visual pathway of human visual system (HVS) is built, which simulates different parts of visual pathway such as the optic chiasm, lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN), and visual cortex. Secondly, the two pathways of our method simulate the ‘what’ and ‘where’ visual pathway respectively, which are endowed with different feature extraction capabilities. Finally, we find a different application way for 3D-convolution, employing it fuse the information from left and right view, rather than just extracting temporal features in video. The experimental results show that our proposed method is more in line with subjective score and has good generalization.

Aiming at the existing problems in French education, a set of intelligent French teaching system with independent intellectual property rights is designed and implemented. Based on cloud computing, the system realizes the effective integration of various network resources distributed between servers and users. It effectively improves the query efficiency of network resources. The system assesses and evaluates students' knowledge and learning outcomes based on their cognitive and knowledge acquisition preferences. This project intends to study the pseudo-color display based on C# programming. Through nonlinear transformation, the correspondence between spectral intensity and color is constructed to achieve the purpose of pseudo-color display. It is applied to the display of language graph and the interface design of speech signal. In addition, the function of sound playback is added to the display of the spectrum, so that it can be reproduced in a “visual” way. This algorithm has the characteristics of simple program, flexible man-machine interface and small demand for instruments. It can be done on a normal PC. Through simulation and verification, the method has a good effect. Finally, the proposed algorithm is verified by computer simulation experiment.

Thermal imaging has been widely used in numerous applications of computer vision. However, in infrared videos, drastic change to bright or dark is a common phenomenon. 8bit thermal image suddenly turning bright or dark mainly caused by two reasons: change in light and dark pixel values distribution and the temperature change inside the infrared camera during photography. As a result, both the tracking performance and the visual effect are affected. To this end, we analyzed the problem from the principle of infrared imaging. We proposed a brightness correction algorithm based on the Kalman filter, which suppressed adjacent frames' brightness flickers, thus improving both tracking performance and visual effect. Experiments on a standard tracking benchmark LSOTB-TIR demonstrate that our algorithm achieves better tracking performance on flickering sequences while not negatively influencing regular infrared videos. © 2021 ieee.

In the age of digital content creation and distribution, steganography, that is, hiding of secret data within another data is needed in many applications, such as in secret communication between two parties, piracy protection, etc. In image steganography, secret data is generally embedded within the image through an additional step after a mandatory image enhancement process. In this paper, we propose the idea of embedding data during the image enhancement process. This saves the additional work required to separately encode the data inside the cover image. We used the Alpha-Trimmed mean filter for image enhancement and XOR of the 6 MSBs for embedding the two bits of the bitstream in the 2 LSBs whereas the extraction is a reverse process. Our obtained quantitative and qualitative results are better than a methodology presented in a very recent paper.

For the face inpainting under arbitrary shape occlusion, the existing methods are easy to produce edge blur and distortion of the inpainting results. In this paper, an algorithm for face inpainting combining structured forest edge information and gated convolution is proposed. Firstly, the edge contour of the occluded area is reconstructed by prior face knowledge to constrain the process of face inpainting. Secondary, the gated convolution holds the ability to extract accurate local feature when some pixels were missed, then a gated convolution based Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) for face inpainting is designed. The model consists of two parts: edge connection network and image inpainting network. The edge connection network accomplish the automatic completion and connection of the missing edge image. The image inpainting network takes the completed edge image as the guidance information, and combines the occlusion image to repair the missing face area. Compared with others, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has more precise detail information and better visual quality. © 2021 ieee.

The article provides a comprehensive review and comparative analysis of various patch antennas utilized in Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication scenarios. These antennas are specifically engineered to achieve high gain and desired directivity within the frequency range of 5.8 GHz to 6 GHz. Known for their ease of design and cost-effectiveness, patch antennas play a vital role in V2Vcommunication systems. The analysis is conducted using ANSYS HFSS software to evaluate different antenna parameters. Additionally, the article discusses various antenna shapes tailored for V2V communication applications. A compact antenna that operates between 2.8 GHz and 9.6 GHz for V 2 V communication systems is studied and presented. The obtained simulation results show a gain of 3 dBi and a bandwidth in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) range from 2.8 to 9.6 GHz.

Real-time on-device object detection for video analytics fails to meet the accuracy requirement due to limited resources of mobile devices while offloading object detection inference to edges is time-consuming due to the transference of video data over edge networks. Based on the system with both on-device object tracking and edge-assisted analysis, we formulate a non-linear time-coupled program over time, maximizing the overall accuracy of object detection by deciding the frequency of edge-assisted inference, under the consideration of both dynamic edge networks and the constrained detection latency. We then design a learning-based online algorithm to adjust the threshold for triggering edge-assisted inference on the fly in terms of the object tracking results, which essentially controls the deviation of on-device tracking between two consecutive frames in the video, by only taking previously observable inputs. We rigorously prove that our approach only incurs sub-linear dynamic regret for the optimality objective. At last, we implement our proposed online schema, and extensive testbed results with real-world traces confirm the empirical superiority over alternative algorithms, in terms of up to 36% improvement on detection accuracy with ensured detection latency.
