This paper describes methodology of milk-run system design and implementation. The methodology consists of seven basic steps and includes the use of simulation technology as a tool to support design, analysis, verification and implementation of milk-run concept. Exemplary simulation model of milk-run system is based on hybrid modelling approach, using discrete-event and agent-based simulations. The approach is implemented in FlexSim simulation software. Paper contains a description and illustrations showing the most important elements of the milk-run system in simulation model. An analysis of the impact of network and control in an interconnected system have been studied in this paper. Particularly, a simplified integrated approach is considered by modelling the entire network of devices and control in a multivariable feedback manner. In this way, the contribution of each device (via its impedance and/or control) and the network connection to responses observed can be understood in a tractable manner. The presented approach potentially provides a method that allows for manipulating observed responses via multivariable approaches. Results show the efficacy of the approach in providing a system perspective to dynamic responses by taking into account contributions. Analysis is carried out in frequency domain and validated with the physical model of the system built in Simscape (TM) Power systems (TM) and control systems in MATLAB/Simulink (R). This paper addresses the problem of aperiodic sampled-data control of linear parameter varying (LPV) systems under input saturation. It is explicitly assumed that plant scheduling parameter can continuously vary between two sampling instants, while the control signal is computed using the measurement of this parameter only at the sampling instants. Assuming an affine parameter dependence, conditions based on the use of a parameter dependent (PD) looped-functional and a PD generalized sector approach, are proposed to compute a sampled-data LPV state feedback control law that ensures the regional asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. LMI-based optimization procedures to maximize an estimate of the region of attraction of the origin or the allowable bound on the intersampling interval for a guaranteed region of stability are proposed. We propose a greedy interpolation approach to compute the L-infinity-norm of a possibly irrational L-infinity-function. We approximate this function by a sequence of rational L-infinity-functions. For this we use interpolation employing the Loewner matrix framework. In each iteration, the L-infinity-norm of the rational approximation is computed using established methods. Then a new interpolation point is added where the L-infinity-norm of the function approximation is attained. This way, the L-infinity-norm of the approximation converges superlinearly to the L-infinity-norm of the original function. We illustrate the efficiency of the resulting algorithm for various numerical examples and compare it to state-of-the-art methods. This paper presents a methodology to simultaneously design a high order repetitive controller (HORC) and an anti-windup compensator for systems subject to control saturation and parametric uncertainties. With the proposed structure it is possible to ensure a certain level of steady-state tracking and/or rejection performance when dealing with uncertain periodic signals. Based on a modified state-feedback formulation of the HORC and an static anti-windup structure, linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions are proposed to guarantee closed-loop stability provided that the state trajectory and the reference/disturbance signals are inside admissible sets. A systematic procedure to determine upper bounds for the system initial conditions and maximum reference/disturbance values is also proposed. A numerical example illustrates the method. biomedical tests play a crucial role in helping physicians to make accurate diagnoses. To perform these tests, thousands of samples are daily transported from several healthcare facilities, where they are collected from patients, to laboratories, where they are analyzed. We consider the challenging biomedical Sample Transportation Problem (BSTP), which is a complex variant of the vehicle routing problem with time windows, where both the number of visits and the opening and closing hours of the collection centers are decision variables, while the objective is to minimize the total duration of routes. We propose a linear programming formulation for the BSTP, and we develop a matheuristics to solve the problem in real-size problem instances, which consists of a decomposition coupled with a Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) algorithm. The decomposition is based on a spatio-temporal clustering method, which takes into account both the travel times between the centers and their collection periods;then, a Fix-and-Optimize VNS is applied to improve the decomposed solution. The performance of the proposed method is assessed over a large number of realistic instances, which are based on the laboratory network in the Province of Quebec, Canada. Results show good quality solutions and the capability of the matheuristics to solve real-size problem instances within an adequate time. With an increasing demand for more efficiency and less costs in industry, the integration between Intelligent Maintenance systems (IMS) and Spare Parts Supply Chain (SPSC) results in better availability of parts and services, avoiding breakdowns and unplanned production interruptions. Better demand planning results in better cost-effectivity as well, as parts and services can be better planned and always available when needed. The proper integration of IMS and SPSC has challenges related to semantic differences between areas with diverse concepts and vocabularies. This work intends to explore these challenges and propose a conceptual model for such integration, using existing ontologies in domains such as supply chain, maintenance and manufacturing to build on top of them an ontology aimed at allowing conceptual integration between IMS and SPSC and becoming a foundation to build future information systems to integrate these two areas. Its purpose is also further explored by using the characteristics of an ontology as tool for semantic description. Artificial intelligence, reasoning and context-aware systems are some of the areas that can benefit from the existence of an ontology to model IMS and SPSC integration. In this paper, we explore such characteristics along with integration and interoperability obtained by using an ontological model in IMS and SPSC integration. This paper addresses a simple robust output feedback controller, which suits a class of nonlinear dynamical systems. It takes into account the dynamics and limitations of the actuator. This setting appears in industrial problems such as flow rate control for hydraulic turbines which is used for speed control, where controller gains tuning is important to avoid violent input signals that could excite unstable dynamics, in addition to the limitation of the actuator in use. A systematic approach is proposed to compute the parameters of a simple control law optimally to minimize the tracking error. This approach is divided into two steps. Firstly, computing bounds on some of the system's parameters and variables, then solving a nonlinear constrained optimization problem (offline). Stability analysis is carried out to guarantee that obtained parameters stabilize the system while keeping the tracking error below a certain bound. We study the problem of detecting an attack on a stochastic cyber-physical system. We start by proposing a detection criterion based on checking the statistics of the Kalman prediction error. To show the importance of the proposed criterion, we study certain attacking schemes which can be effectively detected by this criterion, but not by checking simpler conditions based on commonly used statistics. We then use the proposed criterion to derive a detection algorithm. This algorithm is based on a statistical confidence test, giving a confidence level for detecting an attack. The dynamic output feedback stabilization problem of nonlinear discrete-time systems subject to amplitude bounded disturbances by means of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) N-fuzzy models is considered in this paper. The linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach is applied to design a dynamic output feedback fuzzy controller such that the system trajectories are ultimately bounded, that is, the state trajectory starting in a set of admissible initial conditions is guaranteed to converge in finite time to a nearby region of the state space origin. Furthermore, the proposed approach enables to handle with nonlinearities that are not function of the measured outputs but are sector bounded.
