Interoperability is a major stake for industry, and in general for all the systems, of any dimension, that need to share contents in every shape. It provides that the exchanges between different parts of different entities perform in a perfect way. Various problems could arise and let the interoperation difficult or impossible. One of those problems could be the presence of implicit knowledge in the systems models. This kind of problems can be faced through knowledge formalisation strategies. The Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a mathematical tool to represent the information in a structured and complete way. In this scientific work, we present an extension of the FCA, the Relational Concept Analysis, to reveal tacit knowledge hidden in multi contexts systems. In this paper, we propose new sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the design of robust static output feedback (SOF) controllers for linear time-invariant systems. With this approach, it is possible to deal with the practical problem of not having all state variables available to be directly measured. Additionally, this strategy considers systems subject to the presence of uncertain parameters in its structure. The proposed LMIs were obtained using the Finsler's Lemma. We also present the employment of two relaxation strategies to improve the feasibility region in the controller design. Moreover, this paper presents the results of a practical implementation in an active suspension system susceptible to a fault in the actuator control signal to evaluate the technique's efficiency. This paper proposes improved techniques for the control of continuous-time, switched uncertain linear LPV systems with decay rate performance index and optimization of the controller's norm. These techniques are of closed loop nature (trajectory dependent) and are designed using the solution of Lyapunov-Metzler inequalities from which the stability condition is expressed. The performance index used in the design procedure is the decay rate that aims to reduce the system's settling time. The other important tool proposed is the optimization of the controller's norm that aims to reduce the gains and facilitate its application. In addition to this, more relaxed conditions than those existing in the literature to obtain switched controllers are proposed, which will enable better global performance. Practical implementation of the improved techniques were made in a Quanser's Active Mass Damper - One Floor (AMD-1) laboratory prototype, subject to a structural failure, addressed as a polytopic time-varying uncertainty. The mould level control for steel continuous casting is an open research problem. In ACINOX-Las Tunas steelwork there are occasional problems with the amplitude of mould level variations and with the stability of the control system. The control quality should be better satisfied and a robust nonlinear PI controller with guaranteed robustness designed with a new NPI-RR method is proposed. This achieves a good trade-off between robustness and disturbance attenuation and also optimizing the trade-off between disturbance attenuation and control effort. The slow disturbances, related to erosion or clogging of the stopper valve and the tundish level variations, can be compensated through an adaptive scheme with gain scheduling, fuzzy logic and online identification. This paper presents a systematic framework to combine H-infinity/H-2 dynamic output feedback controller design and economic selection of sensors and actuators for continuous linear time-invariant multi-variate systems. This combined design is formulated as a Mixed Boolean Semi-Definite Programming (MBSDP) problem. Big-M reformulations are performed on the input and output matrices of the dynamic controller to yield column and row sparsity respectively. A numerical example is considered which illustrates the potential of the developed framework. The results obtained from this approach indicate a trade-off between the economic cost related to sensors and actuators and the closed-loop performance of the systems. This paper proposes a new design method for the fault-tolerant control of networked control systems, which consists of subsystems that are physically coupled and connected via a communication network. The control objective requires that the overall system follows a given trajectory. It is satisfied if all subsystems follow specified local trajectories. If a subsystem is affected by a fault, it cannot follow its trajectory any longer and thus causes the control objective to be violated. This paper concerns actuator failures that make a local controller reconfiguration impossible. The new idea is to design cooperative fault-tolerant controllers in which the non-faulty subsystems must follow new local trajectories in order to compensate the deviant behaviour of the faulty subsystem. As no global coordinator exists in the networked system, the subsystems use communication-based two-degrees of freedom controllers to ensure the trajectory tracking. This paper presents and compares approaches to the design of flight controllers for quadrotor helicopters based on Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) decoupling techniques. It is shown that parameter-varying decoupling makes it possible to use SISO LTI control design to address all degrees of motion freedom subject to high-speed maneuvers that require large pitch and roll angles. Specifically a decoupling method based on local linearizations (gain-scheduling decoupling) is compared to a global scheduling-dependent decoupling method inspired by computed-torque control, where the scheduling is based on the tilt angels of the drone. Based on an extensive simulation study, it is demonstrated that such a relatively simple control architecture can achieve significantly better performance than LTI control. The paper offers a new model for in-plant transportation control with the AGV. The controlling part is performed with the use of software constituting a hybrid information system employing fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms. Introducing the division of workspace into zones and switching stations resolved the problem of multimodality in transportation and potential collisions between AGVs. The concept model was verified by means of the developed simulation model of the production system with the transportation control system. This paper proposes a complete robust control design procedure for combustion systems, present in a wide range of important applications. Using a non-linear model identified through optical instrumentation, it is proposed a linear model around an operating condition. To ensure robustness with respect to variations on the operation condition and to deal with external disturbances, a state-space linear representation is further developed, introducing uncertain parameters and exogenous inputs affecting the plant (as non-laminar air flow), giving rise to a polytopic uncertain linear system. Finally, it is proposed a reduced-order H-infinity output-feedback control law for the resulting uncertain system, capable to assure closed-loop robust stability and performance in the whole uncertain domain A numerical experiment is presented to show the effectiveness of the designed reduced-order controller, that is robust against uncertainties and have a low cost of implementation. In this paper, a robust control strategy of a railway traction system with induction motor is proposed. The control problem is divided into sub-loops such as, current loop, acceleration loop, speed loop and position loop. A conventional PI controller is designed for the current loop, which is a very fast loop in comparison to the other mechanical loops. A nonlinear PI controller is used to control the acceleration loop. The speed and position loops are controlled via robust PI-PD controllers. The robustness problem is considered both as disturbance rejection, which arise due to resistive forces, and as robustness against uncertainties such as, the mass of the railway vehicle and the wheel diameter. The practical applicability of the method is emphasized via verification and validation steps with realistic constraints on acceleration, jerk, torque and power on a case study. Simulation results reveal that the proposed controller structure is quite effective for a railway traction system.
