The extensive applications of Internet of Things (IoT) bring development and prosperity to multiple industries and greatly influent all aspects of human lives, which rely on the timely computation and communication. However, the limited battery and computing capacity of the common IoT units cannot satisfy the need of processing computation intensive and time sensitive tasks. As a result, the combination of wireless power transmission (WPT) and mobile edge computing (MEC) provides a promising approach of dealing with aforementioned problems. The Hybrid Access Point (HAP) transmits radio frequency (RF) energy to provide power transmission for wireless devices (WDs), and processes tasks offloaded from WDs with the equipped edge computing servers (ECSs). In this paper, we consider a wireless powered mobile edge computing network containing an HAP, multiple WDs. By jointly optimizing energy transmission time duration, partial offloading decisions and transmission power allocation strategy, we obtain the maximum of the sum computation rate (SCR). Firstly, we formulate this as a non-convex problem which is hard to address. Secondly, we decompose the problem into a top-problem of optimizing the energy transmission time duration and a sub-problem of optimizing the partial offloading decisions and transmission power allocation strategy. Finally, we design a DRL-based offloading algorithm, which applies a DNN network with exploring and updating strategy, to address the top-problem and propose an effective optimizing algorithm to address the sub-problem. Extensive numerical results reveal that the proposed algorithm reaches near-optimal SCR and greatly reduces time latency and complexity compared to benchmark algorithms.

Modeling the performance of real-world applications at scale is essential for designing next-generation platforms and shaping the development of future algorithms. However, accurately capturing the complexity of application execution graphs and their interaction with large-scale hardware environments remains a significant challenge. In recent years, several frameworks have been developed to tackle this issue by providing tools to simulate and analyze complex workloads on distributed systems. This paper focuses on seismic wave propagation problems as a representative use case to explore the challenges of modeling at scale. We employ the SimGrid simulation toolkit, a versatile framework for simulating distributed systems, to analyze the performance of large-scale applications. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of critical networking characteristics, such as bandwidth and topology, in influencing overall scalability and performance. © 2025 IEEE.

With the rapid development of Multi-access Edge computing (MEC), massive distributed collaborative data are generated in realtime at the edge of the network, which brings great challenges to the parallel and distributed data management for compute-intensive and low-latency application requirements. Traditional offloading strategies often neglect signal interference and the critical interdependence between edge servers. Our work combines the parallel and distributed data management system with the operational requirements of MEC. We employ a Partially Observable Markov Game (POMG) framework alongside an Improved Parameterized Deep Q-network (I-PDQN) algorithm, specifically designed for complex decision-making scenarios with task offloading and resource allocation in a discrete-continuous hybrid action space. The collaboration between the POMG framework and the I-PDQN algorithm facilitates data management and analysis across multiple edge servers and it addresses the dual challenges of parallel and distributed data management by ensuring data consistency and availability across distributed nodes, while optimizing computational resources to reduce latency and energy consumption. Experimental results illustrate that compared with the start-of-the-art baselines, our approach achieves competitive improvement in energy consumption and time delay.
