Data hiding approaches in Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) compression that use discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients are gaining popularity due to their capacity to integrate more data into JPEG pictures while producing perceptible aesthetic deterioration. Reversible data concealing is critical for safe data transport and secrecy. This study presents a novel reversible information concealing strategy based on DCT coefficients in the overall setting of compressed JPEG data. The procedure starts with the intake of hosting pictures and the image meant for hiding. Using DCT's time domain evaluation, the host picture is examined to discover suitable spots for integrating binary data. A binary threshold is used to choose appropriate brightness ranges for DCT coefficients for smooth and undetectable data implantation. To improve the embedding process, a binary scale operation is performed on the picture intended for data concealment. This scaling not only maximizes the use of available embedding space but also reduces potential visual distortion, resulting in an overall enhancement in the scheme's resilience and profitability. In addition, equalizing the histogram is used to equalize the pixel intensities of the background and concealed pictures, increasing consistency and improving the overall optical level of the assembled image. Chaotic encryption is used throughout the procedure to certify the protection of the embedded informations. The contained binary data may be precisely recovered from the changed DCT values, enabling a complete recuperation of the original host picture as well as the hidden information. The findings show that the approach can accomplish bidirectional data hiding inside JPEG compression, with encrypted pictures visualizing the effective incorporation of hidden data. A novel technique is proposed for encryption and compression. Here an image is first encrypted using the stream cipher and then compressing the encrypted image using SPIHT. The panorama here stands for using the highly efficient encryption standard and unabating experience of compression techniques. The stream ciphers are chosen for their high encryption rate and they are mainly of bit-by-bit encryption. They don't simply mean encryption but provides authenticity and integrity. Then on the compression section we prefer SPIHT for their unique factors such as larger bit depth, progress from lossy to lossless compression, unrestricted dimensions in image, etc. This paper focuses mainly on highly secure encryption and high compression rate using SPIHT method in Larger images.

The medical imagery is a transverse activity for all medical disciplines. Its remarkable development is due to the large use of telecommunications and information technologies in the medical domain. However, since the telemedicine is a medical act that must answer to stern rules, and follow the easiness that is offered by the informatics sciences to violate the confidentiality and authenticity of medical data, the medical community is, actually, in state of opposition facing the computerization of data. To resolve this problem, a lot of methods combining compression and encryption have been developed in the literature to secure the transmission and the storage of medical images. This work presents a method of a partial or selective encryption for medical images. It is based on the integration of the encryption in a compression process based on the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) in order to reduce the processing time in the encryption-decryption operation. The results of several experiments show that the proposed scheme is rapid, efficient, secure and it perfectly preserves the performances of the new one.

In recent years, there have been increasing demands for applications of image storage, sharing and transmission across data networks. For these data-intensive and sensitive applications, it is imperative to perform both image compression and encryption. In this paper, two different approaches of image compression and encryption were studied and compared. In the first approach, image compression was followed by encryption; while, in the second approach, image encryption was followed by compression. Both approaches were implemented based on standard schemes, i.e., JPEG 2000 lossless compression and DES encryption. Experiments were conducted for two different types of testing images: a natural image and a medical image. The efficiency performance of the two approaches was compared based on key parameters such as MSE, PSNR, entropy, image file size, compression ratio and time consumption. We found that the first approach outperformed the second for both testing images. The results are presented and analysed along with recommendations for related future work.

Transmission of critical data over the link, in the presence of an attacker has augmented the demand for secure communication. Particularly in the military field, exchange of classified images has to be executed with extreme caution. Advanced digital technologies require encryption, authentication and key distribution techniques to facilitate reliable and secure communication. In this paper, Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) Sub-band Exchange based color image fusion scheme for enhanced security is proposed. In this method, the horizontal and vertical sub-bands of two colored images are replaced by chrominance information of each other. This permits generation of uniquely fused gray-scale textured images. This method facilitates fused images which are extremely difficult to intercept by the attacker, since the probability of getting hold on all the information pertaining to one single image is negligible. Also, this method offers reduced bandwidth utilization and less transmission time as it converts colored images to compressed textured gray-scale images. In addition to proposing a novel image fusion technique and compression scheme, this paper illustrates detailed analysis of the algorithm.

Fast unitary transforms are widely used in different areas such as data compression, pattern recognition and image reconstruction, interpolation, linear filtering, and spectral analysis. In this paper, we analyze the general concept of rotation and processing of data around not only circles but ellipses, in general. For that, we describe and analyze the general concept of the elliptic Fourier transform which was developed by Grigoryan in 2009. The block-wise representation of the discrete Fourier transform is considered in the real space, which is effective and that can be generalized to obtain new methods in spectral analysis. The N-point Elliptic discrete Fourier transform (EDFT) uses as a basic 2 × 2 transformation the rotations around ellipses. The EDFT distinguishes well from the carrying frequencies of the signal in both real and imaginary parts. It also has a simple inverse matrix. It is parameterized and includes also the DFT. Our preliminary results show that by using different parameters, the EDFT can be used effectively for solving many problems in signal and image processing field, in which includes problems such as image enhancement, filtration, encryption and many others.

A novel reversible data hiding method based on vacating room for specific encryption process in encrypted image is proposed by Huang and Wang in 2020. In their method, they applied pixel value expansion approach to vacate a specific room for data concealing. However, we find out that the Huang and Wang's method will have a shortcoming of non-reversible encryption while the specific room is larger than 193. This paper proposes an improved method for overcoming the shortcoming of nonreversible encryption developed by Huang and Wang. In our embedding process, the prediction error (PE) is firstly computed, and then, the prediction error strategy is taken into consideration for secret data embedding. The prediction error strategy is applied to determine that the original pixel or flipping one MSB original pixel is suitable for performing message hiding. The experimental results show that the proposed method has superior performance in terms of embedding capacity and compression ratio than that of the other state-of-The-Art methods. © 2020 ACM.

GEZGN-2 is a real-time image processing subsystem, currently being developed for RASAT, the second small satellite to be launched by TÜBTAK-BLTEN, in 2007. It is an advanced version of the GEZCN payload, implementing JPEG 2000 image compression algorithm and currently flying on the BLSAT-1 satellite. The main enhancements in GEZGN-2 are the integration of the full processing path of JPEG 2000 algorithm in a single Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) for increased processing performance and high speed data links complying with the ESA Spacewire standard, for data transfer at a rate of 100 Mbps. In addition to JPEG2000, GEZGIN-2 facilitates image pre-processing for cloud/sea detection and image/data encryption implemented on a daughter-board called GÖLGE. As in GEZGN, GEZGN-2 allows for adjustment of compression ratio for different mission times by means of run-time supplied parameters and full reconfigurability in orbit. © 2005 IEEE.
