Currently the specialists of Kazakhstan have been developing the star tracker that is further planned to use on Kazakhstani satellites of various purposes. At the first stage it has been developed the experimental model of star tracker that has following characteristics: field of view 20 degrees, update frequency 2 Hz, exclusion angle 40 degrees, accuracy of attitude determination of optical axis/around optical axis 15/50 arcsec. Software and mathematical support are the most high-technology parts of star tracker. The results of software and mathematical support development of experimental model of Kazakhstani star tracker are represented in this article. In particular, there are described the main mathematical models and algorithms that have been used as a basis for program units of preliminary imageprocessing of starry sky, stars identification and star tracker attitude determination. The results of software and mathematical support testing with the help of program simulation complex using various configurations of defects including image sensor noises, point spread function modeling, optical system distortion up to 2% are presented. Analysis of testing results has shown that accuracy of attitude determination of star tracker is within the permissible range.
This paper describes an approach to video sequence over–segmentation. The objective is to split the video up to set of disjoint spatio–temporal regions with homogeneous texture properties. In the work we consider th...

Millions of people throughout the world describe themselves as being deaf. Some of them suffer from severe hearing loss and consequently use an alternative manner with which to communicate with society by means of either written or visual language. There are several sign languages capable of dealing with such a need. Nonetheless, a communication gap still exists even when using such languages, since only a small fraction of the population is able to use them. Over the last few years, due to the increasing need for universal accessibility when using computational resources, gesture recognition has been widely researched. Thus, in an attempt to reduce this communication gap, our approach proposes a computational solution in order to translate static gesture symbols into text symbols, through computer vision, without the use of hand sensors or gloves. In order to guarantee the highest quality, with emphasis on the reliability of the system and real-time translation, we have developed an approach based on the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) pattern recognition algorithms fully implemented in hardware, and have assessed it to measure these two metrics. Hardware components were designed in order to perform the best imageprocessing and pattern recognition tasks used within the project. As a case study, and so as to validate the technique, a recognition system for the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) was implemented. Besides ensuring that this approach could be used for any static hand gesture symbol recognition, our main goal was to guarantee fast, reliable gesture recognition for communication between humans. Experimental results have demonstrated that the system is able to recognize LIBRAS symbols with an accuracy of 97%, a response time of 6.5ms per letter recognition, and using only 43% (about 64,851 logic elements) of the FPGA area. Unauthorized and unregistered sea going fishing vessels are being used for criminal activities in the coastal areas. The issue of piracy against merchant ships using illegal fishing vessels poses a significant threat to world shipping. Unfortunately counter piracy efforts and maritime security of our own and other nation enforcement often affects the innocent fishermen who conduct the trans-border fishing. Hence a proper vessel monitoring system is required to protect the maritime security without tampering the routine fishing activity of the sea going fishermen. This paper discusses about the feasibility of a system for the detection of registered marine fishing vessels comparing the satellite images and GPRS signal information. A review on various algorithms for identifying marine boats from satellite images is also conducted in this paper.

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for feature point detecting and matching. Algorithm is robust to image noise and computationally simple, hence it is more suitable for on-board processing robotics applications. We introduce two repeatability measurements, that can be used in training phase to optimize parameters of the algorithm. Proposed detection algorithm is free from extracting multiple points around the same feature point. We suggest a technique to overcome the effect of scale variation in detection stage, for a compensation of computational simplicity. In matching stage, we directly utilize resulting data from detection, which makes the overall process much faster. We procure a technique for matching point error suppression, for a compensation of computational simplicity. Simulation results provided in the paper illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Three-dimensional (3D) organ-mimicking phantoms provide realistic imaging environments for testing various aspects of optical systems, including for evaluating new probe designs, characterizing the diagnostic potential of new technologies, and assessing novel imageprocessingalgorithms prior to validation in real tissue. We introduce and characterize the use of a new material, Dragon Skin (Smooth-On Inc.), and fabrication technique, air-brushing, for fabrication of a 3D phantom that mimics the appearance of a real organ under multiple imaging modalities. We demonstrate the utility of the material and technique by fabricating the first 3D, hollow bladder phantom with realistic normal and multi-stage pathology features suitable for endoscopic detection using the gold standard imaging technique, white light cystoscopy (WLC), as well as the complementary imaging modalities of optical coherence tomography and blue light cystoscopy, which are aimed at improving the sensitivity and specificity of WLC to bladder cancer detection. The flexibility of the material and technique used for phantom construction allowed for the representation of a wide range of diseased tissue states, ranging from inflammation (benign) to high-grade cancerous lesions. Such phantoms can serve as important tools for trainee education and evaluation of new endoscopic instrumentation. (C) 2016 Optical Society of America

In this paper, a novel approach for night image enhancement is proposed. The algorithm improves the visuality of the night image by adjusting the background data of the value component (v) in HSv space. We firstly obtain background image from v, then increase the dynamic range of the background image by optimized transfer function. Finally, we can restore the enhancement v from enhanced background image. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can improve the perceptual quality, and have a good effect for night image by comparing with other algorithms.

ultrasound Phased-Array (PA) systems for non-destructive testing (NDT) use standard beamforming for line-by-line image creation. New methods utilizing full-matrix capture (FMC) enable the application of advance processingalgorithms, such as the total focusing method and multi-pass adaptive techniques for enhanced flaw visualization. The effective FMC data acquisition and its real-time processing require a very high data throughput and powerful computational resources. Most commercial PA systems support some form of FMC acquisition, but the limited external data bandwidth prevents this mode of operation from being useful. We have developed a fully programmable ultrasound research system capable of performing FMC data acquisition and image reconstruction with a high framerate. The ultrasound platform is supporting up to 192 parallel TX/RX electronics channels integrated with an embedded control PC and a GPU cluster for parallel processing. The implemented software libraries give the end-user control over TX/RX schemes, the acquisition process and signal processingalgorithms. This all-in-one system is a fully flexible tool for the research and evaluation of novel Phased-Array FMC imaging methods and complex signal processingalgorithms.
