sensor nodes, which are tiny, geographically dispersed devices that monitor and record physical or environmental parameters like temperature, pressure, humidity, noise, tremor or pollutants, make up Wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The information collected by these sensors is subsequently sent, usually wirelessly, to a base station or central point. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which offer early warnings and real-time monitoring, are essential for disaster detection and management. Disasters are sudden, catastrophic events that cause significant destruction, often resulting in substantial human, economic and environmental losses. Disasters can be natural like earthquake, floods; or man-made like pollution and fires, and they typically require urgent and coordinated responses to mitigate their impact and aid recovery. This paper discusses design of sensor node using temperature and relative humidity sensor, DHT22 and air quality monitoring sensor, MQ135. Four such sensor nodes are deployed at the fire prone locations in the college. Floor plan of sensor node deployment is also provided in the paper. The sensor node readings are monitored on cloud monitoring system. Thus, the wireless sensor network is designed using minimum number of sensors, in cost efficient way and fire information is obtained at the base station with minimum delay.

We introduce a mixed aerial-ground IoT system that monitors widespread events via a wireless sensor network (WSN), and reacts to them with assistance of multiple UAVs. While such an event is spreading out, more UAVs are dispatched in synchronization with its development. The dynamically formed team of UAVs autonomously share the workload of executing jobs in response to the arising event, taking into account the cost of handling. The cost is comprehensively dependent on processing latency, energy consumption, and data exchange. Inspired by the water-pouring idea, we design an iterative job redistribution strategy that progressively approaches to the scheduling optimality. At the same time, a bidding protocol is constructed to let each UAV periodically declare its goodwill to accept new jobs migrating from others. It therefore helps regularly re-adjust the workload imposed on individual UAVs, maintaining the optimality over time. To reduce the overall handling time, the strategy also directs a UAV finishing jobs earlier to be relocated for assisting other members of the team. Numerical results from a simulated system of 10,000 sensors and 37 UAVs deterministically confirm the outperformance of our designed strategy, with respect to energy, latency, fairness and mobilized UAVs. © 2023 IEEE.

A novel secure diffusion Kalman filter algorithm against false data injection attacks

This paper proposes a novel secure diffusion Kalman filter (dKF) algorithm to improve the estimation performance crippled by false data injection attacks on sensors in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Different from the conventional dKF, each adjacent node in the WSNs is detected to ascertain its trustworthiness before local estimate fusion, so as to form a new secure network topology. Then the combination step is performed to fuse the information collected from the secure topology. The proposed secure dKF algorithm, having a better estimation performance, is robust to false data injection attacks on multiple sensors and partial elements of measurements. For the proposed secure dKF algorithm, its mean and mean-square performance are derived, based on which its convergence is analysed. Additionally, the estimating and tracking problem of projectile position is investigated to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed secure dKF algorithm. It is shown by simulations that the proposed secure dKF algorithm achieves a significant estimation performance gain.

Fog computing is a key solution for internet of things (IoT) applications, which demands operational security, real-time and power efficient intelligent responses, and low bandwidth usage. This paper introduces a novel idea related to an hardware implementation of High-performance classifiers for real-time and low power sensor data analytic on the intelligent edge gateway running on smart automobile. The high-performance classifiers uses an artificial neural network (ANN) to extract conclusive inferences from the raw automotive sensors information. The multiple classifiers are embedded into a re-configurable ANN hardware deign i.e. intellectual property core (IP core) which implemented and tested using field-programmable gate array fabric. In addition, this work studies the effect of the IP cores on the performance of the edge gateway. The implementation of fog/edge computing enables throughput reduction of 96.78% to 98.75% compared with the traditional gateway. The hardware design of the high-performance classifiers IP core requires only 31μ s and power consumption of 124mW for classification. The concept of re-configurable ANN model reduce about 41% to 93% of hardware resources requirement that contributing to reduced system power and cost. © 2022 IEEE.

Sign language recognition unites society with people who cannot hear. Sign Language involves a series of hand gestures each with their own meaning and can vary with region and time. A system is required to overcome this barrier between the disabled people and others. Sign Language Recognition is classified in two different ways, they are image and sensor based. Image-based approaches for sign language recognition involve capturing multiple images of the signer performing a sign using one or more cameras, and then analyzing and processing these images to identify and recognize the sign being performed but are not perfectly accurate. In the sensor-based method, instrument gloves assembled with sensors are used to monitor the joints of the hands. These are very accurate but very costly and not easily accessible. In this project an image-based model is used to detect the signs made by a person. Steps involved are: Capturing an Image, preprocessing the image which includes resizing it to 640X640 size, feature extraction, sign classification. The model being used is Faster-RCNN- Resnet, a pretrained model from TensorFlow model zoo. © 2023 IEEE.

Forests are essential resources for each country, since they are essential to maintaining environmental equilibrium. The negative effects of deforestation, especially those caused by forest fires, highlight the need of efficient management and monitoring. When determining the risk of a fire, giving warnings, and assigning resources for emergency management, fire weather indices are essential measures. Utilising sensor networks-Semantic sensor networks (SSN) in particular-improves the ability to gather data on a range of meteorological factors, including temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. processing data streams produced by these sensors poses difficulties for estimating fire weather indicators. This methodology guarantees the system's flexibility in responding to changing circumstances, facilitating reasoning and preserving the open world's generic semantics as established by all participating ontologies. The suggested fire management system contributes to effective forest fire prevention and control by functioning in accordance with the current circumstances © 2025 IEEE.

Normally, a pattern recognition has been studied in the field of digital signal processing with digital codes. Even though it has very accurate results, it needs a lot of power consumption, very long operating time, and huge hardware bundles. In this paper, an edge detected CMOS image sensor for an intelligent pattern recognition is proposed. Further, an efficient edge detection algorithm is also described. With the new techniques, a low power and high speed pattern recognition is available in the field of CMOS image sensor. The image sensor is composed of photodiodes, a two-step single-slope 8-bit analog-to-digital converter, static random memories, and etc. The testing sensor has been implemented with an 180nm technology. It has a very excellent measured results, compared to other published chips. © 2022 IEEE.
