Road accidents remain a critical global issue, exacerbated by factors such as driving under the influence of alcohol, health-related driver incapacitation, and delays in emergency response. This study aims to address these concerns through the development of an intelligent driver safety system that integrates multiple sensor technologies. Specifically, the system focuses on detecting intoxication through alcohol sensors, monitoring driver health through heart rate analysis, and ensuring rapid emergency response in the event of accidents. Leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) and advanced sensor technologies, the proposed solution accurately identifies the root causes of accidents and analyzes potential seasonal trends to inform preventive strategies. Additionally, real-time accident detection and automated alert mechanisms are integrated to minimize response times for emergency services, thereby reducing fatalities and injuries. The system is designed to enhance overall road safety by providing proactive monitoring of driver behavior and physical condition and enabling swift post-accident intervention. This study presents a comprehensive approach to improving road safety and reducing accident-related fatalities by combining intelligent detection, health monitoring, and immediate emergency communication.

With the gradual expansion of the application field of autonomous intelligent robots, their working environment will also be complex and diverse. The environment perception system of autonomous intelligent robot is responsible for obtaining the internal state and external environment information of the robot, which is the basis of robot decision-making and planning. By installing a variety of sensors on the autonomous intelligent robot, and using the information fusion method to fuse the obtained information, a consistent description of the environment is obtained. The key to the architecture of autonomous intelligent robots is to seek the best compromise between precise reasoning and fast response. With the development of sensor and computer technology, the research on environment perception based on multi-sensor information fusion will be more in-depth and more achievements will appear. Environment perception, motion control and interactive recognition are the core technology modules of robot industry development, among which perception is the precondition of robot motion and interactive recognition. Through visual detection of the target features, the offset of the target relative to the reference position can be obtained, and the working trajectory of the robot can be compensated to solve the problem of accurate target positioning, and a good man-machine interaction channel can be constructed through speech recognition technology. Supported by external sensors, the robot has the ability to perceive the external environment to varying degrees, and has certain ability of environment modeling and decision-making control. Perception system is the most important part of the interaction between intelligent robot and human and external environment. Deep 3D Object Detection networks Using LiDAR Data: A Review

As the foundation of intelligent systems, machine vision perceives the surrounding environment and provides a basis for decision-making. Object detection is the core task in machine vision. 3D object detection can provide object steric size and location information. Compared with the 2D object detection widely studied in image coordinates, it can provide more applications of detection systems. Accurate LiDAR data has a stronger spatial capture capability and is insensitive to natural light, which makes LiDAR a potential sensor for 3D detection. Recently, deep neural network has been developed to learn powerful object features from sensor data. However, the sparsity of LiDAR point cloud data poses challenges to the network processing. Plenty of emerged efforts have been made to address this difficulty, but a comprehensive review literature is still lacking. The purpose of this article is to review the challenges and methodologies of 3D object detection networks using LiDAR data. On this account, we first give an outline of 3D detection task and LiDAR sensing techniques. Then we unfold the review of deep 3D detection networks with three kinds of LiDAR point cloud representations and their challenges. We next summarize evaluation metrics and performance of algorithms on three authoritative 3D detection benchmarks. Finally, we provide valuable insights of challenges and open issues.

The difficulty of hand function recovery in hemiplegic patients seriously affects daily life, and reliable rehabilitation training is needed. The premise of rehabilitation training is scientific and reasonable evaluation. The existing assessment methods depend entirely on the rehabilitation physicians, which are subjective, time-consuming and laborious. This paper develops an automated assessment system based on motion and distributed force measurement, combined with clinical Fugl-Meyer assessment. The array distributed flexible thin film pressure sensor attached to a gripping tool, Leap motion and virtual environment constitute an evaluation system to measure the attitude, motion and dynamics information of the hand. The joint range of motion, average velocity, peak velocity and distribution force are extracted as feature information, and input into their respective integrated fuzzy classifiers to classify the hand movement function, and finally the total evaluation score is obtained. Seven subjects were recruited for the experiment. The experimental score and the physician's score were compared with Bland-Altman method, the results showed that there were no data points outside the 95% consistency limit, so the two scores were consistent. The proposed method can be used to automatically evaluate hand motor function without physician supervision.

An indoor air quality monitoring system can provide information about the air quality in enclosed spaces such as offices, and potentially prevent occupants from suffering illnesses due to staying in enclosed spaces, more commonly known as Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). Experiments were conducted to characterize the spread of Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) in a room, using ESP32-based sensor nodes were equipped with SGP30 and CCS811 TVOC sensors. This setup was used as a testbed to monitor pollutant concentrations at different points in 3D space. Discrepancies in the measurements between points showed that airflow has a large effect in reducing pollutant concentrations.

Robotic swarms or portable sensor networks are emerging technologies for sensing physical processes that are spatially distributed- and temporally dynamic, both on Earth and in future Moon/Mars exploration missions. We develop a portable network composed of a multitude of self-organized “sensor eggs”. These eggs are equipped with ultra-wideband (UWB) transceivers, providing precise time and position information without additional infrastructures like Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs). Each egg is additionally equipped with environmental sensors, for example, a Sulfur dioxide gas sensor to explore volcanic activity. We use a real time decentralized particle filter (DPF) to estimate the a-posteriori probability density functions (PDFs) of the egg positions. These PDFs are then used in a static state binary Bayes filter for estimating the gas sources with potentially complex structures such as cracks on the volcano surface. The proposed sensor network is verified with an in-field experiment at La Fossa volcano on the island of Vulcano, Italy, in 2023.

Both the locating of flood victims and the provision of continuous alarm information to the Disaster Rescue Force are accomplished by the Flood alarm and Rescue System. Additionally, it shows where the individuals who are trapped in the water are. Afterwards, a flood alarm system might be activated to notify the public. Contrarily, in an emergency, the Rescue System will direct the rescue workers to the people who need them. The individuals in need will activate the rescue operation by pressing the button that the government has given them. The "rescue team will use the signal processing device to receive and decode the encoded communication signal that it emits". Because of this, they will be able to find the individual far more quickly than was previously achievable with the technology at their disposal. This is the case since the top goals of the rescuing force are determined by our system. Our prototype is built with the idea that individuals may simply incorporate the gadget into their daily tasks when floods are in the area. The inclusion of a torch in our product ensures its continued viability and makes it suitable for usage in low-light situations, such as during floods.

This paper investigates the technology of sensor network node parameter monitoring software and designs a complete monitoring software solution in conjunction with a specific application scenario of greenhouse monitoring. The communication data verification algorithm is thoroughly studied in this study, and the discussion and research on the nonlinear calibration algorithm of sensor parameters in data processing are conducted. The CRC cyclic redundancy algorithm and the least squares method are employed in the subsequent software design for relevant data *** real-time monitoring system is based on sensor network technology, integrating measurement and control to achieve remote monitoring. The system formats the data and uploads it to the host computer via COM serial communication according to the set transmission mode and communication protocol. Upon receiving a series of data packets, the system analyzes the data, dynamically displays it in real-time, issues normal or alarm messages, and notifies the system through different means. The software of this system demonstrates good operational performance, meeting the basic requirements of the application scenario. It possesses excellent monitoring real-time capability, openness, and compatibility, providing comprehensive information and decision support for sensor network node parameter monitoring.

The next phase of intelligent computing could be entirely reliant on the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is critical in changing industries into smarter entities capable of providing high-quality services and products. The widespread adoption of IoT devices raises numerous issues concerning the privacy and security of data gathered and retained by these services. This concern increases exponentially when such data is generated by healthcare applications. To develop genuinely intelligent devices, data must be transferred to the cloud for processing due to the computationally costly nature of current Neural Network implementations. Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML) is a new technology that has been presented by the scientific community as a means of developing autonomous and secure devices that can gather, process, and provide output without transferring data to remote third party organizations. This work presents three distinct TinyML applications to cope with the aforementioned issues and open the road for intelligent machines that provide tailored results to their users.

Gait information is critical in various domains. However, achieving accurate time synchronization across multiple sensor nodes in wireless systems remains a challenge, particularly in gait information acquisition, where precise data alignment is essential. Current solutions are limited by high power consumption, system complexity, and transmission instability. This study proposes a multi-node gait information acquisition system incorporating a six-axis inertial sensor and a plantar pressure sensor, with the ESP32 serving as the core processing unit. The system utilizes the low-power Bluetooth protocol for real-time data transmission. To address the issue of time desynchronization, we introduce an average error-based time synchronization algorithm. The algorithm was tested in an experimental setup using a signal generator, two gait systems, and a mobile device. The results demonstrate that the average error method effectively estimates and corrects frequency drift, significantly reducing time synchronization errors. The system offers a low-power, high-precision solution for multi-node gait information acquisition, advancing the accuracy of gait data fusion and analysis.
