As remote sensing images are multi-sensor, multi-spectral, multi-temporal phase and multi-resolution, general image segmentation methods always can not obtain satisfactory results. In this paper, we introduce the statistical region merging (SRM) model to segment remote sensing images. And according to the characteristics and defects of SRM, the model is improved as follows: Firstly, image gradient information is added in the sort function, which can increase the differences between regions; Secondly, we combine SRM with the nonlinear diffusion which can protect borders, then the requirements of regional homogeneity are better meted, and the model's anti-noise ability is also strengthened; Thirdly, for the issue of SRM has over merging defect, we give a predicate, by which the over merging regions are chosen and then segmented by IAC. Experiments on two color remote sensing images display the quality of the novel method.

To connect wireless sensor networks and WiMAX accessing system, a system is proposed in this paper. It is composed of two parts. The first part is used to establish a P2P network of multiple wireless sensor networks (WSNs) named as ¿WSN Peer Group (WPG)¿. This part is implemented by using JXTA platform. In the WPG, sensor informations can be shared peer to peer by sensor networks. The second part is to connect the WPG to the WiMAX accessing network which is implemented by the WiMAX Gateway (WG). As the WG is developed for the WPG, not for certain WSN, this new system proposes a new way for WSNs to access to WiMAX, which avoids developing various gateways for different types of WSNs. The performances on connectivity and delay are tested, and the results validates that the system is feasible.

The advance of wireless and mobile technologies has enabled students to learn in an environment that combines learning resources from both the real world and the digital world. Although such an approach has been recognized to be innovative and important, several problems have been revealed in practical learning activities. One major problem is owing to the lack of proper learning strategies or tools for assisting the students to acquire knowledge in such a complex learning scenario. Students might feel excited or absorbed when using the mobile devices to learn in the real context; nevertheless, their learning achievements could be disappointing. To deal with this problem, this study presents a mobile learning system that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to detect and examine real-world learning behaviors of students and provide personalized learning guidance accordingly. Experimental results from a natural science course of an elementary school show that this innovative approach is able to improve the learning achievements of students as well as enhance their learning motivation.

In this paper, we theoretically analyze the limitation of the Quotient Image (QI) method proposed by Shashua and present a new way to compute the quotient image. Based on the observation that nine basis point light sources can represent almost arbitrary lighting conditions for face recognition application, we use the corresponding nine basis images which are all real images to span the image space. And similar to the QI, our method can not only get an illumination invariant image but also synthesize a new image under arbitrary illumination conditions. We provide an experimental result to show the effectiveness of our algorithm as well.

NETCONF is a new standard network configuration protocol. For further research we have developed an open experimental platform for NETCONF protocol, BUPT-NEP (BUPT NETCONF Experimental Platform). Moreover, based on the experimental platform some significant technologies, such as data filtering, data storage and so on, are considered. This paper gives a detailed introduction of the tree data model and the table-like data model, which both could be used to organize and store the network facilities' information, and highlights the comparison of them in two aspects of the space occupancy as well as the filtering performance. From the comparison results it comes to a conclusion that the table-like data model could keep more information; however, the tree data model is easy to understand and shows better filtering performance.

This paper present the concept of the outlier mining,discussed using Euclidean distance-based outlier mining to analyse the expressway toll to anti-defrauding, for to illustrate it, gave the example of toll collection's man-day and nullah,analysed the toll collection data in Microsoft SQL Server, helped the toll check man to find outfield data,via emphases check on those outlier data, can find the evidence for anti-defrauding; can offer proofed chain to treat with the defrauding things, this paper also analysed the strong point and the shortcoming of using the algorithms of Euclidean distance-based outlier to analyse the defrauding in highway toll collection.

The purpose of this research is to create a technology-integrated environment where learners can be immersed in the authentic environment to learn Taiwan local history and geography using mobile learning system. Learners conduct investigations with the guidance of the PDA in the Q&A style. The system was tested on students from college to graduate level in the University of Tainan. The experiment was taken place in three places including Catholic Church of Wanchin, Gate of Donglong Temple in Tungkang, and Hsiao Familys Old House in Chia Dong. The results of preand post-test have shown positive learning effect on students' understanding to the history and geography. The usability test of the system has found positive reactions to the mobile learning system.

In this paper, we present a new motion feature, viz. motion curve, and an o(n) algorithm for video adaptation. This new feature is based on motion activity in each video frame. The motion activity in each frame is represented by a pixel change map(PCM) by Yi, H. et al, (2005). A variational filter is applied on the PCM sequence to remove the noise and smooth ldquomotion curverdquo for video adaptation. In our framework, the video adaptation is formulated as an optimization problem. The adaptation cost between any pair of frames is defined as the result of integration along the motion curves. With this cost function, video adaptation becomes a problem of selecting the optimal set of frames such that the summation of the cost of jumps on the motion curve is minimal. Experimental results on various videos demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed rdquomotion curverdquo feature.

Ventilation interruption in high gas mine during main fan switchover in the way currently-used that working fan stops at first and standby fan starts later is liable to cause gas concentration exceeding limit. In the paper, a novel way to realize ventilation unceasing during main fan switchover is put forward, in which, contrary to the way currently-used, standby fan was required to be started before working fan stopped to obtain continuous ventilation power. In addition, a kind of sequence control strategy for air-doors regulation cooperatively was studied for subsequent ventilation network switchover. In order to find the optimal parameter coordination about delay time of sequence control, numerical simulations of the air flow rate and the equivalent ventilation resistance during main fan switchover were executed in MATLAB to check ventilation stable and main fan safety at the same time. Finally, according to which, an automatic control system had been developed and had achieved the perspective goal in its first operation.

The characteristic of deep space communication is that its communication distance is long while the transmission loss is proportional to the square of the distance. In order to overcome the huge transmission loss and ensure reliable communication under a limited transmission power, we must use communication which can work at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and which can also take full use of bandwidth in order to improve the performance of deep space communication. Because Parallel Combinatory Spread Spectrum Communication System (PC/SS) can work at low SNR, with the anti-jamming, higher bandwidth utilization and higher information transmission capabilities, PC/SS is a good choice. This paper studies the applications of PC/SS in deep space communication. First, this paper introduces the theory of PC/SS and its baseband model, then gives key algorithm of PC/SS baseband spread spectrum and despreading spectrum. Furthermore, through example of algorithm, this paper proves the system no error. And this paper also shows hardware block diagram of the system.
