Current networked control systems are facing more and more severe challenges of cyber threats, and various intrinsic network-related vulnerabilities may cause serious damage to industrial production. To strengthen their network defense capabilities, industrial firewalls have been successfully developed to provide the access control service based on the defense-in-defense concept. In this paper, we first give a classified analysis on the intrinsic vulnerabilities from a network-related perspective. After that, we present several representative security technologies applied in today's industrial firewalls, and analyze their basic working principles and effects in practical application. Additionally, we further discuss some applicable security mechanisms which may take full advantage of burgeoning information technologies to provide better security services. Finally, we summarize three application modes of industrial firewalls in networked control systems, and show one application example of our industrial firewall in the real-world control system to verify its relatively fine properties. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). This research focuses on the development and implementation of a physical robotic arm controlled using ROS2 and powered by an Arduino microcontroller. The project integrates advanced robotic software tools such as URDF for modeling, RViz2 for visualization, and MoveIt2 for motion planning, enabling efficient control of the robotic arm. A serial communication interface is established between a laptop and the Arduino to calculate and transmit joint angles for real-time actuation. The study explores the challenges of transitioning from simulation to physical implementation, including hardware limitations and communication latency. The results demonstrate the successful application of ROS2 for controlling a physical robotic system, with potential implications for robotics education, research, and industrial automation. This work serves as a foundation for future developments, such as incorporating sensor feedback and autonomous capabilities. © 2025 IEEE.

To address the security risks in vehicular network communication that current technologies cannot resolve, this paper proposes a multi-key data aggregation algorithm for the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). By adopting multi-key fully homomorphic encryption over rings, the algorithm ensures that data remains encrypted during transmission and aggregation, with encryption operations conducted over rings, thereby enhancing computational efficiency and decryption accuracy. This approach protects vehicle data in the IoV from unauthorized access by institutions or attackers and ensures the security and accuracy of the aggregation process. Throughout the data processing flow, multi-layer encryption and homomorphic operations further enhance data confidentiality and processing efficiency, providing effective technical support for IoV information security. This algorithm is suitable for IoV applications with high demands for data privacy and security. © 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. All rights reserved.

The Automatic Identification System (AIS), as a standard communication and navigation device for ships, plays a significant role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of maritime traffic. The accuracy of the AIS receiver’s signal processing directly affects the bit error rate (BER) and packet error rate (PER) of the AIS system, drawing considerable attention to AIS signal reception and processing technologies. Current research on AIS reception signals mainly focuses on custom implementations using hardware platforms like FPGAs;however, the high cost of hardware implementation has become a limiting factor in the development of AIS signal processing technologies. Therefore, this paper designs an AIS reception signal processing system based on GNU Radio, developing demodulation algorithm and NRZI decoding modules, and testing them with typical demodulation algorithms. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) door lock systems are at the forefront of modern access control technology, combining security, convenience, and scalability. This paper presents a comprehensive review of RFID-based access control systems, highlighting their fundamental components, operational mechanisms, and advantages over traditional methods. Key innovations in RFID technology, such as integration with IoT platforms and mobile devices, are discussed in the context of enhancing system functionality and user experience. Moreover, this paper examines the challenges associated with RFID implementations, including data security vulnerabilities, signal interference, and high installation costs, while suggesting potential solutions. Through this analysis, the paper highlights the growing relevance of RFID access systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments, paving the way for further advancements in secure and intelligent access control *** research identifies key challenges in traditional access control systems, such as susceptibility to breaches, lack of scalability, and operational inefficiency. RFID door lock systems emerge as an advanced solution, integrating wireless communication, IoT platforms, and mobile devices to address these limitations. This study presents an in-depth analysis of RFID systems, highlighting their components, operational mechanisms, and comparative advantages. Considering issues such as vulnerability to data security, interference signals, and a high price tag for the installation, this paper suggests possibilities with solutions of viable, secure, scalable, and intelligent access control systems. Hence, the transformative RFID technology into a residential, commercial, or industrial domain holds an immense study area. © 2025 IEEE.

The Hybrid Tactile Internet Framework revolutionizes real-time human-machine interactions by integrating edge computing, cloud resources, and multi-modal technologies for ultra-low latency communication and precise synchronization. The framework leverages advanced AI models, including Transformer architectures and ResNet variants, for accurate data processing and hybrid reinforcement learning for real-time decision-making. It achieved an average synchronization accuracy of 99.85%, end-to-end latency as low as 0.95ms under 5G URLLC, and a multi-modal feedback success rate of 98.90% across diverse scenarios. Resource allocation remained efficient, with peak energy efficiency of 91.2% under low load conditions and 78.1% at peak load. Haptic systems demonstrated exceptional performance with feedback accuracy of 98.8% and response times under 1ms. Real-world evaluations in virtual surgery, remote robotics, and VR gaming highlighted a decision-making success rate of 98.5%-99.1%, with user satisfaction scores averaging 4.8/5. The proposed framework offers significant potential for applications in telemedicine, collaborative robotics, and immersive VR, paving the way for seamless, scalable, and reliable tactile internet systems. © 2025 IEEE.

Automatic Smart Plant Watering System is a smarter solution that works on Arduino Uno, which can automatically operate for plant watering at optimal moisture conditions of soil. It checks the moisture with the help of a soil moisture sensor and, once the level of moisture goes down below a threshold, initiates a water pump. This user-friendly system is also energy efficient, making it suitable for busy or travel users, further contributing to sustainability plant care, thereby making it ideal for residential and nursery settings while emphasizing the promising use of smart agriculture and IoT technologies. This paper focuses on developing a smart water framework designed to efficiently manage water distribution based on real-time soil and environmental conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper investigates the barriers hindering the effective transition from theoretical knowledge to practical application in a Sino-New Zealand double-degree undergraduate computing programme. In this unique educational setting, students study at a campus in China but complete both Chinese and New Zealand courses taught jointly by lecturers from both countries. Through a questionnaire administered to these students, we identify critical obstacles such as insufficient foundational knowledge, language barriers, cultural and pedagogical differences, and difficulties adapting to distinct educational systems. Our analysis reveals that these barriers significantly affect students’ academic performance, engagement, and skill development. Based on the findings, we propose targeted interventions, including specialized bridging courses, enhanced language support, refined teaching methods, and improved resource allocation. Image Super-Resolution (SR) is a key challenge in computer vision, focusing on enhancing low-resolution images while preserving details. This paper presents a novel method using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for improving image quality, specifically targeting coffee bean defect detection. The proposed SR-GAN model includes a generator that upscales low-resolution inputs and a discriminator that differentiates between generated high-resolution images and real ones. Trained on a coffee bean dataset, the model optimizes loss functions to balance perceptual quality and fidelity, capturing subtle defects like cracks and discolorations. Enhanced images are processed by two Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs): one identifies broad defect categories, such as defective black beans, brown beans, broken beans and non-defective high-quality beans. This layered approach ensures more precise defect identification and classification, overcoming limitations of previous methods that struggled with subtle defects. Performance evaluations show that SR-GAN and CNN significantly outperforms existing models in resolution enhancement and classification accuracy, offering a robust solution for improving quality control in coffee production. © 2025 IEEE.
