This research advances our understanding of the complex relationship between environmental awareness, climate change recognition, protective behavior, and urban Environmental Quality (EQ). This study underscores the importance of environmental conservation by demonstrating the positive effects of climate-friendly and pro-environmental actions on improving EQ. These findings emphasize the need for educational institutions to play an essential role in fostering students' environmental understanding and responsible practice, contributing to a sustainable future. Addressing the urgent problem of deteriorating urban EQ, this study offers a solution by promoting climate-friendly and pro-environmental behavior. By establishing the mediating role of protective action, this research uncovers new pathways for policymakers, educators, and urban planners to improve EQ. Innovative use of stratified sampling and advanced statistical modeling techniques ensures robust results. This research captures an important demographic ready to lead environmental initiatives by focusing on graduate students. Identifying pro-environmental behavior as a driver of EQ improvement significantly contributes to the field. In conclusion, this study underscores the importance of protective behavior in fostering a sustainable urban environment. By highlighting the linkages between environmental awareness, climate change recognition, and protective action, this study provides a comprehensive framework for promoting positive environmental change. These findings advocate for proactive higher education and urban planning strategies, pushing environmental sustainability discourse forward. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to analyze the distribution characteristics of extreme high temperature, this paper takes the maximum temperature data from 1960 to 2022 in Cengong County as the research object, and constructs a generalized extreme value model. Firstly, a preliminary statistical analysis of the maximum temperature data in Cengong County was carried out, revealing that although the distribution of maximum temperature and the normal distribution can indicate that there are fewer years of extreme high temperature, and the distribution trend is more consistent, there are obvious differences in the tail characteristics of the two parts. modeling the sample data with a normal distribution can lead to underestimation of what will happen in extreme heat. Secondly, the Metropolis-Hastings sampling algorithm is used to simulate the MCMC of posterior distributed random samples, and the three-parameter simulation value of the generalized extreme value model is obtained, and the mean value is used as the parameter estimation value. Finally, the reproducibility levels under the 20-, 50-, and 100-year return periods were calculated by using the three-parameter simulation values of the posterior period. The results show that the Bayesian method can overcome the problem that the asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimation is not necessarily true, and the parameters calculated based on the Bayesian method have a better effect on model fitting. At the same time, the generalized extreme model has good prediction ability, and the longer the prediction period, the more uncertain the future. © 2024 IEEE.

In a power inverter system, IGBT modules are located on the same cooling system, which form multiple heat sources that contribute to the total heat generation. When heat transfers from chips to cooling system through baseplate, thermal coupling will be generated between paralleled IGBT modules. Based on thermal resistance network method, a thermal coupling model to calculate the resistance and junction temperature is built up, considering the thermal coupling between the paralleled IGBT modules. The formula to calculate thermal coupling resistance among IGBT modules is derived. The proposed method is applied to a case study of a 1700V/1400A IGBT module and three-dimensional model of the IGBT modules is built up. To validate the thermal coupling model, the simulation of a three-phase power inverter is established in Infineon-IPOSIM and the proposed method in different output current. The junction temperature in the simulation has a good agreement with the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Machine Learning (ML) has emerged as a promising alternative to numerical methods for physics-based simulation due to its flexibility and efficiency. Flood modeling is a key case study for ML-based simulation due to its relevance as a tool for supporting preventive and emergency measures to mitigate flood risks. However, the complexity of the topography or domain (ground elevation) and the sparsity of the time-evolving precipitations (external forcing) can be challenging for most existing ML approaches for simulating flooding processes in space and time. Another critical challenge is incorporating physics domain knowledge (hydraulics) into these data-driven models. This paper addresses these challenges by introducing a hydraulics-informed graph neural network for flood simulation. Given a (geographical) region and precipitation data, our model predicts water depths in an auto-regressive fashion. We propose a message-passing framework inspired by the conservation of momentum and mass expressed in the shallow-water equations, which describe the physical process of a flooding event. Empirical results on a dataset covering 9 regions and 7 historical precipitation events demonstrate that our model outperforms the best baseline, and can capture the propagation of water flow more effectively, especially at the very early stage of the flooding event when the amount of water in the domain is scarce. Differently from some of the most recent methods for ML-based simulation, which tend to work well only when the domain is a smooth surface (e.g., flat terrain), we show that our solution achieves accurate results for real ground elevation data.
