Hydraulic system comprehension forms the pillar ofnumerous engineering fields;however, its academic assimilation remains intricate. Addressing this, our research introduces a digital twin-enabled virtual hydraulic workstation simulator developed in Automation Studio™. This simulator mirrorsa tangible hydraulic workstation, including its multifaceted components, to enhance the pedagogical paradigm of hydraulic education. We ensure the symbiosis of theoretical understanding and practical application by meticulously modeling 3D hydraulic components and executing analogous simulations. Our key findings spotlight the utility of time-dependent system behavior graphs in bolstering educational insights. The paper underscores the significance of digital twin solutions in university programs, mainly when physical resources are scarce, reinforcing educational technology’s potential to facilitate studentengagement in technically dense arenas. ©2024 IEEE.

The brain-computer interface (BCI) is a multidisciplinary research field at improving the biomedical engineering with innovator systems for helping people with neuromotor disabilities. This paper proposes a new solution to introduce the BCI as a portable, robust, and attractive technology right in the home environment of the users. The proposed application is related to using the mental commands for guiding a 3D model of a wheelchair by following different movement directions. The mental commands are triggered by the detection of the P300 evoked potentials from the Unicorn EEG headset provided by the GTEC Medical Engineering company. The wheelchair-based simulation is implemented in the LabVIEW programming environment by using the dedicated functions from the 3D Picture control. The control of the 3D wheelchair supposes to enable the corresponding operations of translating and rotating the elements from the 3D structure, as well as to accomplish its movement across different directions (forward, backward, turning left or right). The proposed software application involved the UDP based integration between LabVIEW and Unicorn P300 Speller. Moreover, the LabVIEW simulation provides multiple scenarios comprising different trajectories for guiding the wheelchair to reach the established destinations. The difficulty levels are increasing, and the users are required to achieve challenging tasks related to controlling the BCI by correctly transmitting the P300 based command. This paper presents three experimental sessions composed of three difficulty levels, such as: beginner (6 experiments with 2-3 commands each, intermediate (4 experiments with 7 commands each), and advanced (2 experiments with 13-14 commands each).

Learning is a process that involves the progressive transfer of knowledge, encompassing both the physical and psychological components of the learner. Emotions play a crucial role in the success of learning, yet they are often overlooked in the context of online education. Facial emotion detection technology and emotion analysis offer a solution for effectively recognizing and accommodating students' emotions in digital learning environments. The use of a Learning Management System (LMS) based on the MERN architecture (MongoDB, ***, ***, ***) is also critical in supporting the flexibility and responsiveness of online learning platforms. This research employed the Agile model, which was systematically planned and organized. The Agile model is an approach that allows for continuous adjustments during development. The aim of this study is to integrate artificial intelligence into an e-learning system to detect and evaluate students' emotions, thereby enabling the development of more effective online learning methods. The design process following the Agile Method involved needs analysis, modeling with UML (Use Case, Activity Diagram, Sequence Diagram, and Class Diagram), as well as database and code implementation. The backend development focused on database management, server configuration, and API integration, while the frontend was designed for a responsive user interface. Testing was conducted using Black Box and White Box methods, which demonstrated 100% validity for system functionality, while user feedback through UAT yielded a 94% validity score. The results indicate that emotion detection functions effectively in e-learning, and emotion analysis can enhance the quality of learning, with positive emotional states leading to better outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate and computationally cost-efficient models for fabricated memristor devices are essential for the design of future computers and AI-driven sensor-processor systems, especially for the simulation of large-scale circuits and systems. The variability-aware JART memristor model properly captures both the conduction mechanisms and the dynamical behavior of actual Valence Change Mechanism (VCM) memristors. However, the original JART VCM model incorporates an implicit description of the memristor current that constitutes a computationally heavy approach. Here, we aim to simplify the JART VCM model by replacing this implicit description with an explicit mathematical expression, leading to faster simulations and enabling deeper theoretical studies. The improvement achieved using the proposed model goes over x20 in simulation speed for increasing number of VCM devices, allowing for faster simulation of computing-inmemory and memristor-based AI systems. © 2023 IEEE.

In spite of the broad implementation of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary education Act (UAQTE) - a groundbreaking legislation benefitting over 2 million students since its enactment in 2017 - a comprehensive evaluation of its outcomes has been notably absent. To bridge this gap, an extensive survey was undertaken among graduating tertiary students in selected regions of the Philippines. This strategically designed survey aimed to pinpoint overlooked aspects of UAQTE and capture firsthand insights from its recipients. The methodology employed to create this survey included focus-group discussions with various stakeholders (i.e., students, parents, faculty) and a pilot test reflecting the target demographic. To facilitate analysis of the results of 1462 responses, five regression machine learning algorithms were then employed to analyze questionnaire data. The decision tree regressor with a root-mean-squared-error of 0.6881 was found to be the best performing model describing the collected questionnaire data. Shapley explanations of the best performing model highlighted the desire of the recipient to pursue international employment as the top predictor of satisfaction in UAQTE among its recipients. Furthermore, insights from employed topic modeling among the open-ended questions in the deployed survey suggested potential inadequacy of UAQTE subsidies, specifically to recipients whose pursued degrees are in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses. This substantial finding promises valuable insights into the effectiveness of the legislation and may inform future policy adjustments to better address the diverse needs of tertiary education in the Philippines. Overall, this research provides a robust framework for assessing the impact of UAQTE and showcases a methodologically sound approach in integrating machine learning and qualitative analysis. © 2024 Global IT research Institute - GIRI.

advanced technologies like reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO), and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are crucial for the upcoming 6G communications landscape, particularly for IoT applications. This study uniquely explores the effects of RIS dynamics on the performance of mMIMO downlink (DL) cooperative NOMA systems in dense IoT environments. It introduces a novel methodology for modeling dynamic traffic distribution and integrating RIS, focusing on key performance metrics such as network capacity, spectral efficiency (SE), latency, and energy efficiency (EE). Various scenarios are evaluated, considering different distributions of IoT devices and signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). Using simulation software, the research analyzes performance under unstable channel conditions with varying device distances, speeds, and power locations, employing 256-QAM modulation and successive interference cancellation (SIC). The results demonstrate that dynamic RIS significantly enhances capacity, spectrum efficiency, latency, and EE, paving the way for optimized IoT network architecture in future wireless systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Teaching quality is themain indicator for evaluating teaching level. But it is affected by a number of contributing variables. To address existing issues in teaching quality evaluation and boost the accuracy of teaching quality evaluation, a data mining-based teaching quality assessment model is developed. To begin, this model investigates and analyzes the relevant literature on the present evaluation of teaching quality, generate evaluation indicators of factors affecting teaching quality, and gathers data on teaching quality influencing factors. And creates research samples for evaluating teaching quality at schools of higher education as well as determines the grade of educational effectiveness through specialists. And applies data mining technology to train study samples, forming the model of university teaching quality assessment. Analyzes the superiority of the college and university teaching quality model using real instances. The results reveal that data mining can represent the disparities in quality of instruction grades in universities and produce high accuracy quality of instruction assessment results.

Massively applied in critical systems, formal methods of specification and verification have gained importance in a world where computer systems grow larger and larger. There are long-known challenges to teaching formal methods in higher education. But, as it is often considered an advanced topic of software engineering, it is rarely cogitated in basic education. Aiming at this unusual public, this paper explores a new take on formal specification: the development of fundamental modeling and evaluation skills, rather than the technical competence to prove correctness. Known challenges and strategies are revisited highlighting what changes when the teaching moves from universities to schools. Studies approaching related topics with kids and teens are discussed. Then game design with Graph Grammars is presented as an example of how to tackle the mentioned challenges and employ the respective strategies. © 2023 IEEE.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare, effective data management plays a pivotal role in enhancing health service delivery. This study explores the application of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) based predictive modelling to optimize healthcare data management. The proposed framework leverages LSTM to capture temporal dependencies in healthcare data, allowing for improved prediction of patient outcomes and resource utilization. GANs are employed to generate synthetic healthcare data. The primary objectives of this research include the development of an advanced predictive modeling system for healthcare data and the optimization of health service delivery processes. By harnessing the power of LSTM and GANs, the study aims to address challenges related to data heterogeneity, imbalances, and scarcity. The proposed LSTM-GAN model shows better accuracy with 98.5% which is 4 % higher when compared with SVM and GRU. The implications of this work extend beyond predictive modeling, influencing policy-making and strategic decision processes in the pursuit of effective, accessible, and patient-centric healthcare services. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of hardware description languages (HDLs) and the implementation of techniques like pipelining and dataflow optimization significantly increase the complexity of designing field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). This added complexity poses challenges in translating hardware descriptive code into FPGA-recognizable bitstreams. Despite high-level synthesis (HLS) facilitating the translation of C or C++ into HDL and enhancing deployment efficiency, current HLS optimization schemes remain limited, necessitating complex processes and prolonged simulation times. Addressing these challenges, we propose an HLS-based convolutional neural network (CNN) accelerator that constructs various CNN models, including convolutional and pooling modules, using the C language and optimizes resource utilization via diverse HLS directives. Resource utilization is subsequently visualized through simulation and synthesis. Conducting experiments with Vitis 2021.1, our accelerator effectively converts the C-constructed CNN into HDL, markedly reducing resource utilization metrics such as lookup tables and latency. © 2024 IEEE.
