ChaosFIRE is an experiment to evaluate the performance and usability of peer-to-peer mobile technologies as an alternative mean to central service based solutions to collect and distribute sensor information in an urban area. The Project runs under the 1st Open Call of Fed4FIRE IP under FP7 and is based on the technology developed in the Chaoster project of MTA SZTAKI DSD. Chaoster is a DTN-PSN (Delay Tolerant networking - Pocket Switched Network) based adaptive, context-aware collaboration platform supporting emergent interoperability for crisis/chaos management. DTN-PSN communication layer of Chaoster is used in this experiment together with the ChaosONE simulator, an extended version of the ONE simulator originally developed for the evaluation of DTN communication protocols.

The calling of users is very uneven and the channel collision detection ability is quite weak in communication system in near space (CSNS). To ensure quality of service (QoS), a novel load measurement access control (LMAC) protocol is proposed. Combined with Markov M/M/n queue model, integrated theoretical analytical model is established for CSNS. The effect which the waiting probability of calling service, calling number and measure parameter have on the performance of the networks are analyzed. Besides, the LMAC scheme Is introduced to greatly increase the maximum throughput to 0.33 and improves the maximum throughput nearly one time compared to the maximum throughput 0.18 of the simple ALOHA protocol and closed to the theoretical bound.

This paper proposes an autonomous train control system based on inter-train communication. In this new system, there is no logical central device and trains can communicate with each other autonomously. The train itself produces the position and calculates the permitted track speed. Therefore, the distance between trains can be shortened and a smooth brake pattern can he obtained. For building this system without hindering the current system operations, the gatway-based replacement technology and its test methods are explained. This research aimed to study the usage of social networking sites (SNSs) for education in the higher education context. The survey research consisted of 412 university students who used social networking sites. The main purposes of students for the usage of SNSs in education were to communicate with their classmates and lecturers rather than collaborate on their academic work or use them as a space for information resource sharing. The students revealed that the main advantages they received from using SNSs were easy and convenient ways to search for information, effective ways to contact or communicate with classmates and lecturers, and closer relationship among friends. Regarding the psychological factors that influenced the usage of SNSs in the educational context were subjective norms, compatibility between technology and users, and attitude toward technology. In addition, SNSs usage also correlated with its positive outcome in the context of education. The problems and obstacles the students faced from using SNSs in the educational context were management of time spending online and misinterpretation of non-face-to-face communication.

Performance of transport layer is measured mostly in terms of packet delivery ratio, transmission delay, and throughput. Congestion control (CC) strategies are responsible for transport layer performance. There are different congestion control algorithms are designed and developed by researchers to handle shared, highly distributed and heterogeneous environment. In this paper, we are analyzing most of the popular congestion control algorithms based on link state, type of traffic, mode of transmission and bandwidth delay product (BDP). In the proposed algorithmic solutions, networking researchers not only looking for congestion but also taking care of effective use of network resources in different types of environments such as wired, wireless, high-speed, long-delay, etc. To avoid severe congestion based on feedback mechanism few packets are dropped randomly by using active queue management (AQM) techniques. Using explicit congestion notification (ECN) mechanism unnecessary packet dropping is avoided. Data center network (DCN) uses a different approach to handle congestion.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a novel computing paradigm that sinks the computing capacity of cloud servers into edge nodes to reduce network latency. By caching the popular content at small base station (SBS) can reduce the heavy backhaul load and the content retransmission in MEC. However, the dynamic and time-varying of the content requests may increase the network cost. In this paper, we study a distributed edge caching optimization problem in MEC scenario with the spatiotemporal requirements. The considered cache control is described as a stochastic differential game (SDG) in which each SBS defines a caching strategy to reduce the cost in terms of the service delay and backhaul link load. To reduce the computational complexity, the original problem can be transformed into a mean field game (MFG). We propose a caching iterative control algorithm that decouples the information interactions between the general SBS and others with the mean field distribution. In addition, we obtain the optimal caching strategy which achieves the existence and uniqueness of the mean field equilibrium (MFE). Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can reduce more storage space and total cost compared to the Kim's approach.

Deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in future mobile networks has recently been considered as a reliable technique to enhance capacity of the network and to facilitate an efficient communication in emergency cases. The improvement provided by such network depends on the deployment of the UAVs with respect to users and also on the power consumption of the UAV. In this paper, we study the power consumption in the wireless networks equipped with the UAVs. We propose the novel solution in which the UAV can either change its transmitting power or relocate itself to a new position as the users move in order to guarantee quality of service to the users. We analytically find the transmitting power and an ideal position of the UAV to minimize the total consumed power by the UAV consisting of the power for communication and the power for a displacement of the UAV. According to the simulations, the proposed scheme brings up to 30% of total UAV power saving in the scenario with users moving in crowd.

In this paper we propose a mechanism of an adaptive multimedia stream service that can support continuous data transmissions in mobile computing environment. This mechanism contains an effective buffeting method, an intelligent filtering and QoS negotiation method, and a playout control method to provide seamless playback of multimedia streams. To implement the mechanisms in the mobile computing environment, we take the concept of proxy It is located in the intermediate place between Two communication endpoints and it plays the role of an agent of the mobile hosts. The proxy uses the buffering method to keep constant transmission rates using feedback so that it can provide an adaptive stream service to the network. If needed, the proxy may transform the streams by applying filters to make mobile hosts' environments more optimal. And it does QoS negotiation with mobile hosts if the network bandwidth cannot support required QoS or if the environment of mobile host was changed.
