Wireless Networked control System (WINCS), based on distributed control systems of wireless network, integrate control technology, computer technology, network technology and communication technology. The delay of controlled plant and wireless network transmission may have bad impacts on system performance. Aiming at solving the delay problem, this paper analyzes the existing problems of wireless network and the solutions for WINCS firstly. Then, the components of simulation software TrueTime toolbox and the function of each module are detailed. Thirdly, a wireless networked control system is constructed on TrueTime simulation platform, of which controlled plant is a DC servo and wireless transmission network is ZigBee protocol. Performances of control system are compared under conventional PID and predictive PI algorithms, which show that predictive PI controller can obtain better control effects in a large time-delay system. Finally, this paper analyzes the composition of the system delays, including the sensor to the controller delay and the controller to the actuator delay, and outlines the conclusions.

This article presents the advantage of WSN and analyses the application of WSN in Environment Monitoring. In addition, we explain why we choose ZigBee technology as the wireless communication approach. In this paper, we propose a new Multipath routing protocol for ad hoc wireless networks, which is based on the DSR (Dynamic Source Routing)-On demand Routing Protocol. Congestion is the main reason for packet loss in mobile ad hoc networks. If the workload is distributed among the nodes in the system, based on the congestion of the paths, the average execution time can be minimized and the lifetime of the nodes can be maximized. We propose a scheme to distribute load between multiple paths according to the congestion status of the path. Our simulation results confirm that the proposed protocol-CCSR improves the throughput and reduces the number of collisions in the network. Copyright 2009 ACM.

This article gives a review of modern networking technologies and standards used in the development of distributed control systems. Study of related scientific and professional literature has been performed, and basing on it a multi-level model of digital network structure in the field of small-scale autonomous combined power systems has been proposed. Necessity of integration of autonomous powering into SmartHouse systems and related distributed computing and networking issues are reflected as well. As there is a wide variety of industrial networking standards used, this review covers and groups more frequently used protocols and stacks from the view of OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) reference model and layers of industrial automation. The aim of this article is to give a reference-point in the development of distributed control systems in the field of small-scale autonomous power supply and integration of them in SmartHouse systems.

The objective of this paper is to present a method to characterize a brain tumor. The authors developed a tumor characterization technique using Marker controlled Watershed Segmentation method and region property functions using image processing toolbox. The parameters extracted are area major and minor axis length, eccentricity, orientation, equivdiameter, solidity and perimeter. This method is quite versatile, fast and simple to use. This can be applied to all type of 2D MR Images representing all tumors irrespective of their location in human body and their size. The proposed technique has been simulated on Mat lab and results are compared with experimental data obtained from diagnostic centre.

In Modern Interconnected Power systems, Power System Stabilizers(PSS) are widely used to damp the Low Frequency Inertial Oscillations experienced in the System. In this paper, an innovative Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm is applied to compute the Optimal value of PSS parameters to enhance Power System Stability. The design problem is formulated as an Eigen value based Optimization problem and the PSS parameters are optimized to shift the system electromechanical modes of oscillations at different loading conditions to the left in the complex s- plane for stability. To show the robustness of the proposed controller, Non linear simulations have been carried out under various operating conditions of the system operation.
