This paper applies the preprocessing phases of the knowledge Discovery in databases to the automated blood cell counter data and generates association rules using apriori algorithm. The functions of an automated blood cell counter from a clinical pathology laboratory and the phases in knowledge Discovery in databases are explained briefly. Twelve thousand records are taken from a clinical laboratory for processing. The preprocessing steps of the KDD process are applied on the blood cell counter data. This paper applies the Apriori algorithm on the blood cell counter data and generates interesting association rules that are useful for medical diagnosis. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.

This article discusses the problem of searching and analyzing scientific and technical information gathered from open sources in the field of business intelligence. Subject area is represented through ontological model extended by fuzzy links between objects. Using this ontology-based approach, we have created "Cyber-analytic", information analysis system which is capable of extracting facts from natural-language texts in Russian and English, and representing them as object relationships. We use i2 Analyst's Notebook. as a visualization tool.

QuickCN: A combined approach for efficient keyword search over databases

Much research has been done on Keyword Search Over Relational databases(KSORD) in recent years, and several prototypes have been developed. However, the performance of KSORD systems still is a key issue. In this paper, we propose a combined approach QuickCN for efficient KSORD. Firstly, schema graph is employed to generate Candidate Networks(CNs). Then, data graph is exploited to quickly execute CNs instead of submitting them to RDBMS. In this way, QuickCN performs more efficiently than schema-graph-based KSORD systems and consumes less memory than that by data-graph-based KSORD systems. Our experiments show that QuickCN is efficient and effective.

In protein structure prediction, identifying the inter-residue contacts is a very important task to understand the mechanism of complicated protein folding and therefore to predict three-dimensional structures of proteins. So far, many methods were developed to predict inter-residue contacts. However, no special database consisting of detailed inter-residue contacts for each PDB protein chain has been built. Our database of inter-residue contacts in protein chains consists of protein chains extracted from PDB database. For each protein chain, we analyzed its inter-residue contacts, classified it into one class, and obtained several groups of inter-residues contacts.

This volume represents the outcome of the international conference on "Extending database Technology", held in Venice, Italy, in March 1988. data sanitization process is employed to market the sharing of transactional databases among organizations and businesses, and alleviates concerns for people and organizations regarding the disclosure of sensitive patterns sanitization process converts the source database into a released database so that unauthorized person cannot identify the sensitive patterns and so data confidentiality is maintained using association rule mining method. This process strongly relies on the minimizing the impact of knowledge sanitization on the info utility by minimizing the amount of lost patterns within the sort of non- sensitive patterns which are not mined from sanitized database. This study proposes a knowledge sanitization algorithm to cover sensitive patterns within the sort of frequent item sets from the database while controlling the impact of sanitization on the data utility using estimation of impact factor of every modification on non-sensitive item sets. In some applications like market basket analysis, Association Rule Mining (ARM) has recently gained more attention in businesses where the regularities within the customer purchasing behavior are found. On the other hand, these discovered patterns may pose a threat to the privacy of data holder;therefore, these patterns should be hidden before data sharing in such a way that the adversaries cannot discover the regularities in customer purchasing behavior. The Semantic Web has made possible the use of the Internet to extract useful content, a task that could necessitate an infrastructure across the Web. With Hadoop, a free implementation of the MapReduce programming paradigm created by Google, we can treat these data reliably over hundreds of servers. This article describes how the Apriori algorithm was adapted to MapReduce in the search for relations between entities to deal with thousands of Web pages coming from RSS feeds daily. First, every feed is looked up five times per day and each entry is registered in a database with MapReduce. Second, the entries are read and their content sent to the Web service OpenCalais for the detection of named entities. For each Web page, the set of all itemsets found is generated and stored in the database. Third, all generated sets, from first to last, are counted and their support is registered. Finally, various analytical tasks are executed to present the relationships found. Our tests show that the third step, executed over 3,000,000 sets, was 4.5 times faster using five servers than using a single machine. This approach allows us to easily and automatically distribute treatments on as many machines as are available, and be able to process datasets that one server, even a very powerful one, would not be able to manage alone. We believe that this work is a step forward in processing semantic Web data efficiently and effectively.
